There is a lot within walking distance. The private beach is two blocks, with an upscale restaurant about five blocks from home. Across the street from the restaurant is a sandwich/breakfast place, plus get a newspaper or a bottle of wine! It's about four short blocks from there to Bay Head center - a bakery, wine, spirits and cheese shop and a number of gift and women's wear shops. Another six or so blocks is the train station with service north to New York's Penn Station. Overall, it's about a mile from the house to the train station, a flat and easy walk past pretty Twilight Lake.
My wife and I live in the Atlanta area. Our most recent all-summer tenant left us after nine years to buy another house of their own just up the street! We miss them, as they came to love this house as much as we do.
. purchased this house in 1961
This location suits our lives very well. The house has been in the family for more than 50 years. Bay Head has the small town flavor that we grew up with, and we can walk easily to a restaurant, the bakery and get the morning paper. And if we are ambitious that day, it's a mile to the train station where New York City and points in between are great to visit.
We love the way this house provides a cozy and welcoming environment, where you can mix the sand and the surf with civilized living.
Stayed here with 5 adults and had many fantastic nights relaxing on the sun drenched deck while barbecuing dinner.
Being only a couple of minutes walk from the beach (with included beach badges) and handy for the small town made it so easy for us, giving us the option of sandy walks, dips in the sea or wandering to the shops to pick up a treat - either a new top or something sweet depending on who was shopping!
The house is so comfortable with everything we needed already provided and super accommodating owners who are delightful to deal with.
Such a lovely place, easy to escape on the train from New York, recharge & take a break from the city.
