Gloucester House Rental Photos and Description

5 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 9

Located above the western shore of Gloucester’s historic harbor and lovingly renovated in 2011, this beautiful and spacious five bedroom Victorian vacation rental home has been in the same family since the 1880's.

From the side entrance on a quiet lane, you will step into a bright back hall with full bath and separate laundry. The formal dining room has a table sized to fit the whole family, while the living room boasts a working tiled fireplace and cushioned window seat. The TV den/office alcove flows into the eat-in fully applianced kitchen with pantry. The screened-in side porch is a great place for the children to play at dinnertime and to put some burgers on the grill.

The parlor contains a recliner sofa and love seat and 50' smart flat screen TV, making it easy to unwind after a day at the beach. The elegant front hall and staircase lead up to 5 second floor bedrooms, a full bath, and a large deck from which you can still see wooden schooners under full sail. There are AC units in the king and 2 queen bedrooms and new bunk beds added in 2014.

Walk down to Stage Fort Park with its playground, two beaches – Cressy’s (named for the original owners of this house) and Half Moon, a splendid sandy beach set among rocky outcrops with sun and shade – tennis courts, concerts, fireworks, and a seasonal neighborhood restaurant and ice cream store. Across the street and a short walk up one of the oldest roads in New England is the entrance to Gloucester's 500 acre nature preserve, Ravenswood Park. Or you can stroll along the boulevard past the iconic Man at the Wheel sculpture into Gloucester, where shops, restaurants, whale watch excursions and schooner cruises await you. Wingaersheek Beach and Good Harbor Beach are just a 10 minute drive; rinse off the sand in the hot/cold outdoor shower after your day in the sea and sun.

Reviewer Comments:

Our family stayed at Beachmont for our son's wedding. It was a wonderful home for our entire family. It is spacious and very comfortable. My favorite room was the kitchen. We spent many hours around the kitchen had all the conveniences of home. My only negative was the condition of the grounds. The outside of the home needed more care. There were large weeds growing, cracked sidewalks and the outside needed considerable attention. We loved the inside and it provided a wonderful space for our family to gather. Thanks for sharing your home with our family.

Reviewer Comments:

My family and I had a wonderful experience overall. The house was large and rambling providing great space for all. The kitchen was well equipped and towels were plentiful. One queen mattress could use a replacement though because it was pretty uncomfortable.

Reviewer Comments:

House was nicely appointed and in a great location. The yard needs work. Lots of weeds and generally looks unkept.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. As this summer has been particularly hot and dry, the grounds were starting to reflect that. We are taking steps to make sure that the condition of the garden is improved. Thank you.

Our family rented this very comfortable home for two weeks. Everyone loved it. It is near a park with a playground and small beach, perfect for the little ones. The house was very clean and well equipped. We would not hesitate to rent here again.
