Paciano is a medieval walled town built in 1324. It was voted 'one of the most beautiful villages' in Italy. It is a quiet and peaceful village with a population of less than 1,000 people. While tucked away in the splendid countryside, Paciano is 15 minutes by car to Chiusi, a train transit point South to Rome and North of Florence. During your stay at Casa Lagovista, you will hear the birds singing in the morning and see millions of stars at night. The atmosphere causes instant relaxation!
Casa Lagovista (means lake view in Italian) is located in the historic center of Paciano, steps away from our main piazza, 2 restaurants, 2 coffee bars and 2 food markets. The casa is a completely renovated apartment (1000 sq. ft) built into the ramparts of the wall of the village. The bedroom contains a comfortable King bed, sumptuous linens, a large closet and a balcony overlooking a green forested area and Lake Trasimeno. The bathroom is over-sized, contains a walk in glass-enclosed shower and lots of towels, soaps and lotions. The completely modern kitchen is furnished with granite counter-tops, dishwasher, a bright orange refrigerator, electric oven, gas cook-top and all of the requisite cooking tools to allow you to indulge your cooking whims.
The large living area contains a fireplace, a large comfy sofa, a dining table and a desk. WIFI internet connection allows you to stay connected from anywhere in the casa.
You can meet our on-site property manager, an American who has been living in Paciano for 10 years. She is fluent in Italian and a veritable fountain of ideas to make your stay in our village relaxing, informative and fun.
Please note that we have an adjacent renovated apartment, Lagovista Loft, also available. Accomodations for 2 adults. The two apartments occupy the whole top floor and afford lots of privacy.
Kerry Norman and Cordell Brown -- we live in Oklahoma City and have been traveling to Italy every year since 1990 and began renting places in Italy soon after. We dreamed of having our own place and decided on Paciano because of its location and charm. We love Paciano so much that we travel there twice a year and have made many friends, both Italian and ex-pats who have moved there to live.
Kerry Norman purchased this apartment in 2006
Casa Lagovista has every amenity you could want. After renting in many other places in Italy, we have made sure that we have included things that we missed in other properties. From the smallest detail (candles, tablecloths, novels which take place in Italy) to more functional items like umbrellas, robes, shopping bags, we have tried to anticipate your every need and want.
Sitting on the balcony sipping coffee or wine (depending on the time of day) and overlooking the wooded park behind us where all during the year there is something blooming is enchanting. On the other side of the apartment, the view is over the rooftops of the village and the countryside beyond!
We recently stayed in Casa Lagovista for the third time – and I can honestly say that each trip has been even better than the time before. Our daughter came with us on this visit and she stayed in Lagovista Loft. It was an ideal set-up for providing privacy when we wanted it but a nice open space for sharing wine, meals and conversation. This arrangement worked perfectly for us!
We were exhausted when we arrived in Paciano after traveling for over a week and Margaret had everything ready for us. She is a wonderful resource both before you arrive and once you get there! The beauty of Paciano is what a great home base it is. There are literally hundreds of day trips you can take and still return in the evening and enjoy dinner at one of the great restaurants close by. Depending on how long you stay, the biggest problem becomes fitting in enough meals to try all the places you have found!
We can’t imagine a better way to experience Italy and feel like a local. The apartments are so comfortable and clean with wonderful American bathrooms and every amenity you could want. We try to spend at least one day just hanging out in the village and soaking up the Italian culture – Casa Lagovista is in the middle of it all. We can’t wait to return!!
My husband and I just returned from our dream-come-true stay at Casa Lagovista. It was everything we had hoped it would be. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and quiet. The bedroom faces east and has a nice balcony for morning coffee or evening cocktails. The kitchen faces west and looks out over the rooftops of Paciano. I loved watching the pigeons while enjoying my morning coffee. The kitchen is very well equipped if you want to eat in. As far as dining options, there are many to choose from. Our three favorites were L'Oca Bruciata for great pizza, Il Casale for traditional Umbrian fare, and Lillo Tatini in Panacale. Paciano is the perfect location for day-tripping to the beautiful hill-towns of Umbria and Tuscany. We were able to explore 16 gorgeous towns during our two week stay. Chiusi is about 7 miles away and has a train station if you want to go to Florence. We also picked up our rental car there. This charming village has a post office, an ATM, a grocery store, a butcher shop and some great restaurants. One of the highlights of our stay was a wine tour with Annie. The ever-helpful neighbor, Margaret, put us in touch with her. Margaret was an immense help when my husband needed some antibiotics for a tooth problem. Our two weeks went by way too fast...we loved every minute!
I spent two weeks with four friends in beautiful Paciano, UM, Italy, and it was a wonderful time! Three of us stayed in Casa Lagovista while the other two stayed in the adjacent "Loft". The accommodations were outstanding! The owners have thought of virtually everything to make the stay absolutely perfect. The town of Paciano is ideally located for "day-tripping" around Tuscany and Umbria and contains enough characters to make just hanging out in the town a treat! We were awakened one morning by a bagpiper walking up the street in front of our apartment. On another day, we were treated to an unexpected "parade" of antique cars...Italian style! On the night of our arrival, we joined the locals for a wonderful home-cooked multi-course dinner and the next day watched a grape stomping contest! Not your "usual" Italian tour experience! Can't say enough good things about this beautiful place!
An amazing break from reality. Paciano took us back to the early 1300's, a time we couldn't even visualize before seeing and experiencing it and the lifestyle it represents. A small village within the walls providing most everything you need...bar (American translation is all-day cafe and convenience store), post office, restaurant, butcher and recently added parking lot for your rental car.
The apartment is quiet minus the old world sounds of pigeons chattering and a bell tower that rings every half hour that I found myself missing after our departure.
Modern comforts of American living with fully equipped kitchen, open feel within living spaces, private bedroom with king bed, abundant closet space (even a place to put my yoga mat). Loved the bathroom with VERY large shower w/ great water pressure. Good wifi for all the research you'll want to do for your day trips from Paciano.
One of my favorite things was the access to outdoor breezes and sounds with the many screened windows that open plus the balcony off the master with table and chairs to read, eat, and more.
We were able to view Lagovista Loft (next door) that the owners of Casa Lagovista also own and lease. It is incredible too. Hard to choose between the two! If you are going with another party, renting them both would be so much fun!
We enjoyed the location and it's proximity to many other places with their own unique personalities. We spent most of our time in nearby Chiusi (also where we rented car) and Lake Trasimeno/Castiglione del Lago. We also enjoyed taking the train from Chiusi to Florence for the day and took the rental car for a day in Asissi (take your good shoes for walking uphill for Asissi).
You will find helpful and friendly assistance from neighbor, Margaret who is American and walks a perfect balance between Italian and American worlds. She is an invaluable resource and friend in Paciano. The owners make the connection between you and her upon booking of the apartment. She is wonderful for setting tours, drivers, cooking classes, recommendations for restaurants and so much more. She is the piece of the puzzle that enables visitors to pretend like they live here while removing the stress of navigating new and foreign surroundings.
We highly recommend the entire experience for anyone who likes to see new sites and other cultures while staying in the comforts of home. A rare opportunity to live in a world that's been reserved for native Umbrian Italians for centuries.
We stayed in Casa Lagovista and had family/friends staying in Lagovista during the May/June time frame and had a wonderful time. The apartment is very nicely appointed and very comfortable. Far better than staying in a hotel, inn or b&b. Easy train trips from nearby Chiusi to Florence and Rome and we couldn't wait to get back to the peace, quiet and enjoyment of Pacciano and Casa Lagovista. Lovely views of Lake Trasimeno from the balcony and it is a great experience to stay in the village. We were fortunate to participate in a village dinner, which was a fund raiser for the village's participation in the Vatican flower art festival (Infiorata), and loved meeting the locals, as well as very interesting expats, and, needless to say, the food was spectacular. Great location for fun and easy day trips by car to many lovely hill towns. Paciano has two very nice restaurants (L'Oca Bruciata was a favorite, lovely family staff) and the bar just a few doors down from the apartment is perfect for morning croissants/expresso and evening prosecco). A very special, easy and enjoyable way to experience the Umbria/Tuscany area and we would highly recommend Casa Lagovista. Kerry and Cordell have developed a real jewel and have really thought of everything to make the trip fun, comfortable and easy (including plenty of electric outlet converters!). Those who visit are very fortunate to have the opportunity and should thoroughly enjoy. This would definitely be our choice for another Italian hill country adventure headquarters!
Fabouslly appointed apartment where every need has been anticipated by the owners. Whether you are an adventure seeker or seeking peace and quiet, this spot works. Lovely breakfasts or romantic dinners on the balcony overlooking the Umbrian hills and Lake Trasimo make great starts or finishes to your day. Amazing day trip possibilities to Florence, Spoleto, Assisi, Spello, Pienza, Cortona, Orvieto, all the wonderful villages surrounding the Lake area and so many more that we didn't have time to visit. A car is a must in this area but parking is provided 50 yards away from front door. Owners provide a wonderful reference library for the area as well as a notebook packed with suggestions on restaurants and area sites. Every effort has been made by the owners to make visitors feel welcome and comfortable. The on-site manager was very helpful with suggestions on current happenings in the area. All you have to do is get there--everything is set up for a wonderful stay! A quiet haven!
