A large expanse of windows provide a panoramic view of Green Lake. Double tier deck great for barbecuing and relaxing outside.
Green Lake is 2000 acres, all sports lake with a large portion of its shoreline dedicated to a state park, nature reserve and the world famous Interlochen Academy, Green Lake has maintained a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. We provide kayaks and a canoe for casual summer fun.
Our cottage is just minutes from Traverse City, Grand Traverse Bay, Crystal Mountain Ski & Golf Resort, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, numerous wineries, concert halls, casinos, golf courses, Little Betsie River, and much more.
We currently live in Grand Rapids, Michigan and enjoy taking the short drive to our cottage to get away from our busy schedules We own a company in the construction business so our property is kept in great shape
Cathy purchased this cottage in 2012
The Interlochen area has so much to offer all year round. Traverse City has festivals almost every weekend of the summer so you'll never get bored Walk 40 feet from our cottage to the beach and you can relax, fish or catch some rays on the sun deck The sandy beach will entertain your kids for hours
Green Lake is unique in that it has miles of shore line dedicated to State Parks or Interlochen Arts Academy
The lake is so clear you can see down nearly 15 feet It's not uncommon to see large fish swim under your boat or come up to the dock We enjoy snorkling in the clear water
I am not one to write reviews, however, I felt our experience at Interlochen last summer was worth sharing. My husband and I stayed at this cabin over the holiday break last July and had an absolute blast exploring Northern Michigan! We wanted to stay in this area because of how close it was to all of the tourist destinations such as the dunes and Traverse City, however we ended up spending most of our time at the lake instead!
The lake was crystal clear and felt like bath water. It was the first time we had ever been able to snorkel in an inland lake...highlight! You are tucked back into a cove, so boat noise was never an issue. We took advantage of the kayaks and spent most of our time gliding across the water stalking out fish and turtles swimming right beneath us :). I can't place enough emphasis on HOW clear Green Lake really is. Another great way we enjoyed it was laying on the beach or tanning on the sundeck (which I thought was very unique and perfect for my style of relaxing!).
The most unique feature about this specific location is that it is right across the lake from Interlochen's Academy of Arts. During our stay, we were able to hear concerts going on while sitting at the fire pit right off the water....very cool. While taking a bike ride through their campus one morning, we found out that they offer free tours every day for the public. We didn't take advantage of it, however we plan to next time!
The cabin itself is as beautiful as the lake. We typically don't prioritize on the interior of a cabin we stay in as much as the location, however, with this one, we hit the jack pot! The spacious layout was great when our extended family visited for a few days. Everyone was able to have their own space with the convenience of two full bathrooms. The kitchen (oh the kitchen...) is better than ours at home! I found myself WANTING to cook and grill out everyday because I never felt like I was missing anything with the large windows overlooking the lake.
The pictures capture the beauty of the interior, however, do not do justice for the outdoors. I would recommend this cabin and location to anyone without reservation!
If you are interested in renting this place everything is brand new! Its in the perfect location. You must check this place out!!!
While you feel like your miles away from the hustle and bustle of every day life you can enjoy a wonderful performance at the world famous Interlochen Center for the Arts just 3 miles away (you can see the auditorium across the lake) You can also explore several small towns and over 40 wineries in the area. Traverse City has many restaurants, bars and unique shopping and is only 20 minutes away. There are also over 20 golf courses in the area.
Our cottage is also close to Crystal Mountain Ski and Golf Resort, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, Little Betsie River and several casinos.
