Pine Cove House Rental Photos and Description

Privately owned, 'Idle Wine Estates' is a two bedroom and one full bath house located in Pine Cove, 3 miles from Idyllwild town center. The house has an open floor plan and lots of natural light with windows from the floor to ceiling in the front. Both bedrooms have a window and french doors leading to the back yard that faces giant pine trees. The high vaulted wood beam ceilings add to the openness and airy feeling. The house is newly furnished and updated with bamboo floors (except for carpeting in the bedrooms) and stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher and gas stove. The owners of 'Idle Wine estates' love to cook gourmet meals and have fully stocked the kitchen. Enjoy BBQ'ing on the large front deck while watching the playful squirrels, variety of birds and the occasional coyote run by. Idle Wine estates also has a separate laudry/mud room with its own entrance. A separate large storage shed is available for your 'toys'.

So whether you enjoy hiking, mountain biking, shopping and visiting the many restaurants or staying in and relaxing, Idle Wine Estates will add to your vacation experience.

Please note that the cabin does not have cable (we do have movies for your enjoyment or close by video rentals). Though we don't discourage children, the house is not 'child proof'.

About Scott or Nicole

Scott and Nicole live in San Diego and take every chance to get away to the local mountains. They enjoy the outdoors including camping, mt biking and hiking. And after 'playing hard' in nature, they enjoy cooking gourmet meals and a glass of wine, hence the name 'Idle Wine Estates'

Scott or Nicole purchased this house in 2011

Why Scott or Nicole chose Idyllwild

Scott and Nicole have been coming up to Idyllwild on a frequent basis to mountain bike the miles of single tracks and fell in love with the town. The town is big enough to host numerous fine restaurants, a theatre and galleries but still have that small town feel. Idyllwild is an easy and scenic 2 - 2 1/2 hour drive from San Diego making it a perfect weekend getaway.

Great QT

  • 5 of 5

Overall, I was very impressed with this property! It is well maintained by the owner (with an exception for some cobwebs here and there on the ceiling/lights) and very comfortable. You literally feel at home in this place. The kitchen has everything you could need! We also enjoyed not having cable TV as a distraction and the wifi was sufficient for our 2 cell phones. They have plenty of board games, books and movies to keep you entertained. We will definitely come back to this quiet, modern nook but next time we will bring our kids. The only downside is when running the propane heater in the living room, if you try to run the 2 space heaters in the 2 bedrooms at the same time the power goes out. It happened 2x and my wife had to go to the circuit breaker and reload everything. That's the only issue I would complain about but once you know this, you quickly learn not to run too many things at once ;)

Oh, P.S. We had no cell phone reception (Sprint) which can pose an issue in the event of an emergency.

A clean and cozy place for a good price

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for two nights while in town for a friend's wedding. We both felt that the house exceeded our expectations, with a good location (assuming you have a car) and a good setup. This is a good place if you are looking to just sleep, eat breakfast, and unwind a little at the end of the day, but not the best spot for spending all day. The internet is quite slow and there is no cable; I imagine this kind of entertainment is difficult to come by on the mountain. Instead, expect to spend most days on the town, hiking, or sight seeing. This place perfectly fit our needs!

Perfect family getaway - serene and clean

  • 4 of 5

We were so appreciative of finding a clean, clean home upon our arrival. In too many of our stays in other homes we have been greeted with cobwebs, bugs, and mustiness. Not here! They have great housekeeping. This home is newly renovated with Pergo-style wood flooring, a warm cast iron stove in the family room (so not the best place for crawling babies), windows all along the front overlooking the lovely front porch, a fully outfitted kitchen, and laundry room if you have unexpected clothing needs (or for longer stays). It was perfect for our family of 4. (Our 3 & 5yo's shared the 2nd bedroom.) The owner was very attentive to a question we had at arrival, even going the extra mile to call us to make sure we were well taken care of. The neighborhood was nice for an early morning stroll on quiet streets with the family. Convenient to hikes just north of the neighborhood which we were happy to explore for the first time. We will be back!! Thanks again Scott!

Lovely, visitor-friendly house

  • 5 of 5

This is a really wonderful house in Idyllwild-Pine Cove, very close to the town center and trails. The kitchen is absolutely amazing, and quite well-equipped. The rest of the house is also both beautiful and comfortably furnished. The owners have made obvious efforts to make the place inviting and convenient for visitors. We have two young kids, and they've actually been asking to return to the house! I can't really ask for more than that.
