About the property

Turn of the Century, beautiful cottage with a New Orleans Flair!!

La Maison Scott was constructed in the early 20th century in New Orleans' Faubourg Marigny neighborhood, which is adjacent to and within walking distance of the French Quarter and Frenchman St. It has recently undergone a major renovation that brings out the charm of this early 20th century residence, updated with all of the modern amenities.

The home has 13 foot ceilings, polished hardwood floors, 1 decorative fireplace and large windows throughout which give the home a light, airy feel. La Maison Scott has central heating and cooling, and most rooms are equipped with a ceiling fan that takes the edge off of those days when the mercury is running high.

Guests may enter to a formal dining room featuring a fireplace with a decorative mantle and two extra large windows that flood the room in sunlight. This room is furnished with a large traditional dining table that seats up to 8 people and is perfect for those evenings when you just want to order in or prepare yourself a feast in our fabulous kitchen.

The spacious, light-filled living room has a leather comfy sofa coffee tables and a lounge chairs. The living room also features a 52inch flat screen HDTV, along with a DVD player and an iPod dock. Wireless high speed internet is available throughout the home.

When you are on vacation nothing is more important than getting a good night's rest. Each bedroom has a dresser, nightstands , HDTV with DVD player. Upstairs master bedroom has private balcony with sitting area and fabulous views of the Marigny and courtyard. This bedroom has an ensuite with a jacuzzi tub and a large tiled seperate shower and a walk in Closet. The main floor master bedroom at the rear of the house offers a pillow top queen size bed, HD TV, ceiling fan and a large ensuite bathroom.

Also featured is a powder room off of the living room. Each bathroom is supplied with high-quality Egyptian cotton towels, bath sheets, toiletries and hair dryer.

Our large, modern eat-in kitchen is delightfully bathed in sunlight with two sets of windows and a side door that leads to the courtyard or side yard. Indeed, our kitchen is uncharacteristically large and airy for historic homes in the Marigny neighborhood. The kitchen features stainless steel appliances and is well-equipped with a complete supply of cookware, dishes and cutlery. Small appliances include a toaster oven, a microwave and a Keurig coffee maker. After you have brewed your morning coffee, simply take a stroll through the French doors into the courtyard to sip your coffee and listen to the sounds of morning in New Orleans, which might include the horn of a paddle-wheeler making its way down the Mississippi a few blocks away!

And while you are in the courtyard, you might as well enjoy all of the amenities offered, sit around the fountain, throw some Louisiana shrimp on the grill or just relax on the outdoor furniture. It is so comfortable that you might not want to leave!

My husband and I are retired and live a few blocks away. We are always available to offer assistance and recommendations to ensure that our guest have a great experience in New Orleans!

About Suzanne Scott

We fell in love with New Orleans and particularly the Marigny area after my husband's work brought us here. We purchased this lovely home a couple of years ago to enjoy as a second home for guests and family. We now live in New Orleans permanently just a few blocks away from La Maison Scott, so when are guest require assistance we are always available.

We established La Maison Scott in hope to share our lovely get away with our guests.

Suzanne Scott purchased this house in 2011

Why Suzanne Scott chose Downtown

A home away from home with a New Orleans flair. Location, location location..So nice to be walking distance to most attractions and not need a rental car.Although if you do have a car there is plenty of parking.Great neighborhood which offers our guests a real New Orleans experience..

What makes this house unique

Love the historic feeling ,yet the modern amenities.. come and visit and we promise you will return to La Maison Scott!!

We also have two 1 bedroom apartments nearby, equally as beautiful with similar amenities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved our stay in this very confortable home! The location was perfect, close to Frenchman St, French Quarter and parks. After a long day of touring the city it was nice to come back to a relaxing quiet courtyard. The layout of the house was great for our family of six, linens and beds are extremely comfortable. We loved the large bright kitchen fully equipped to entertain.

Could not have asked for a better home to celebrate our anniversary !!

We highly recommend this home!!

We stayed in Suzanne and Terry's beautiful home March 9th-16th and found it a perfect place to call home during a crazy whirlwind week discovering New Orleans. Our group was 5 adults - 2 couples and a friend. The presentation and decorations are so beautiful and well done in the style and feel of New Orleans, but the best aspect to us was the overall comfort of the home. The living spaces are fantastic. A modern well stocked kitchen made it so easy to prepare the meals we had at the house. And although the food choices in New Orleans will never leave anyone wanting, it was really nice on a couple evenings to relax over drinks in the beautiful backyard and fire up the bbq after a busy day. The kitchen is the most well stocked kitchen I have seen in a vacation rental and with quality glasses, dishes and pans. I recommend you take stock of what is in the cupboards before you shop, as there is a wide variety of spices, oils, salt and pepper etc. The dining room is a great setting for sharing meals and laughs. The living room is warm and comfortable. You will not want to get off that leather couch after a long day! We all found the beds really comfortable with quality bedding and pillows. Lots of room for your clothes and belongings. With 5 people we utilized the back bedroom. Access to that room is through the second master, but was not an issue at all. The set up allows for privacy with curtains and a door. These 2 bedrooms share a bathroom, which was also not an issue for our group. The bathrooms are stocked with quality plush towels and face cloths and good toilet paper LOL. Sounds funny to comment on, but we have been to many rentals that used threadbare towels and cheap motel grade toilet paper. There are lots of suggestions for tours and restaurants found in the office area. The WIFI works fast and without lag despite several devices. Laundry facilities work great and make packing for vacation a little lighter if you're worried about baggage charges. There is really nothing extra you need to bring while staying here...hairdryers, iron, etc all provided and again great quality. This is a older home that has been restored beautifully with all the modern amenities you could ask for. We had an amazing week in NOLA and a large part of our great week was having this home as our base. We recommend this rental to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay with all the comforts of home. Thanks so much Suzanne! The Dingwall

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for our family vacation! A short walk to Frenchmen provides access to many bands and great bars (and at least 2 awesome restaurants too). We really felt cozy and at home when we weren't out exploring. A short walk to the bus/trolley line too!

This is a great property in an exciting location. We love staying just outside the French Quarter but within walking distance. And so close to Frenchman Street! The house is very nice with plenty of room and privacy. It was clean and had everything that we needed. The back yard was delightful and the house was fantastic. The owner was pleasant and responsive. Thank you for a great stay!

Wonderful Home for a New Orleans Visit

  • 5 of 5

The house was in a great location and very comfortably furnished - perfect for a family reunion to celebrate a 70th birthday weekend in New Orleans. The home has been lovingly restored and is beautifully decorated. Nice touches that let you know that you are in New Orleans tastefully. All three beds are very comfortable as well as the living room furniture. The wifi was great and we even got the wireless printer to work! The backyard has a gas grill and a lot of seating to enjoy the nice weather. Suzanne and Terry were very helpful with information before we arrived and after we got here. There is a lot of well organized information available on the desk as well as the most recent magazines to help you decide what to do as well. There is a cable car stop very close by and the $3 daily ticket is a great deal. The walk to the French Quater is easy and we found Uber very easy to use as well. Cabs charge an extra dollar for every extra person after one, so if you have a party of 3-4, we found that you will save money using Uber. We hope to be back and hope that this wonderful home is available for our use once again!

Great Place to stay near Frenchmen Street

  • 4 of 5

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Suzanne and Terry's place in New Orleans. We were pleasantly surprised to see how well stocked and equipped the kitchen was with spices, coffee, tea,and even a case of bottled water. Suzanne was very accommodating in allowing us to check in early and start our holiday escapade. She returned calls promptly and offered many good recommendations for restaurants and activities. The master bedroom upstairs is lovely but the steep and windy stairs could be a challenge. The two bedrooms on the main floor worked out fine for us even though the back bedroom access is through the first bedroom. If you need a break, enjoy the extensive DVD library. The location, which is in transition, is very convenient to both Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter. We walked everywhere.
