We grew up on the East coast but moved to San Francisco in 1991. We bought our home on the edge of the Presidio in 1999 and have raised 2 kids, 2 dogs and a gecko here. We spend a few weeks every summer on an island off the coast of Maine and like to rent out our home during those weeks to help defray the costs of maintaining a summer home so far way to guests who will respect and appreciate that this is our home, not a rental property.
Jan D'Alessandro purchased this house in 1999
This house is great for families and respectful adults who want to stay together during a wedding or special occasion in the Bay Area. We are on the edge of the Presidio, not far from Marin or downtown. There are hiking trails all the way to Baker Beach and a golf course just outside our door.
Looking out over the Presidio Golf Course, you feel as if you are in the country. In fact, you are just steps from the ethnic restaurants of Clement Street, the stately homes of Presidio Heights and only 20 minutes from downtown San Francisco. You will love being here as much as we do.
Thank you for having such a beautiful home. I did not know what to expect, but it was more than my family could have wished for in a house rental. The house was very large and clean, and we are a family of five and we all had our own space. While the house had all the modern amenities, the charm of this Victorian home was present everywhere. The home is on a very pretty dead end street and from the kitchen you can see easily see the Presidio golf course. The area is extremely quiet and peaceful so it made sleeping a bit later in the morning quite easy. The kitchen had every gadget and within walking distance you can shop at two markets. One had very excellent prepared foods. The food is pretty remarkable in San Francisco and I grew up in NYC. We made visits to Golden Gate Park, played golf course twice and went to Planet Granite. I had never been to San Francisco before but the charm of the house would entice me to come back. I do hope the state of California get some well needed rain.
Our group needed to book a last minute rental for an event at Golden Gate Park (after our original plans fell to pieces). We were lucky enough to find Mark and Jan's property still available during the dates we needed.
The house is fantastic. Spacious, tastefully decorated, and located in a really nice area with shops and restaurants within walking distance. It was great to able to use the bikes at the house to zip over to our event and back each day.
The entire house is brimming with love! Their kids are lucky to have such cool parents (as evidenced by the many concert stubs plastered all over their son's bedroom door).
Jan and Mark were great with communication and accommodating to any requests/questions we had. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
The home is lovely and very well situated. We loved it.
It is located on a cul-de-sac so you feel like you are in the suburbs one block from coffee shops, restaurants, etc. It was close to everything we did, though it was a pity to leave the house because it is so beautiful and so comfortable. We walked to restaurants and to get get baked goods and fruit for breakfast.
We have a large family and it easily accommodated us (check out the picture of the dining room) and gave us great space for hanging out together and apart.
I have recommended it to all my friends and highly recommend it for your stay in San Francisco.
Our house is located north of Lake Street in one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods on a cul de sac overlooking the Presidio Golf Course. Imagine being within a quick walk to Julius Khan Playground, Mountain Lakes Park, and Baker Beach. Enjoy the cafes, restaurants and boutiques of Sacramento Street, Clement Street and Laurel Village (with two full grocery stores). Great public transportation nearby, and downtown is only minutes away.
