Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Frank & Sherry,

Thank-you for making your cabin available to renters.

We had a very good time here - fishing every morning & night – using your Pontoon Boat & paddle boats & canoes & fires nightly. We loved the Loons, geese, Blue Heron & just the atmosphere of Uncle Frank’s Cabin. We also loved the location & enjoyed the nearby cities & beaches.

This was a very nice house. Everything that you need was at the cabin. As for the fish, they didn't show up. We would stay again.

Beautiful, serene and restful

My wife and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. My wife soon took to believing the loons were family pets. Nothing like the call of a loon across a northern Michigan lake. We thought the cabin had whatever we needed, was neat and tidy throughout. Only 15 minutes to Cheboygan, a little more to the bridge, which facilitated a few day trips. We always desired to return for a campfire at day's end. It was great to have the variety of boats to peruse the waters...canoed every day. I did some snorkeling as well. I hoped for better fishing, even though a few bass were accommodating in the shallows...the panfish appear to be stunted. Perhaps the DNR can come up with a plan. Great get away, thanks a lot!

Having stayed at the cabin this year for the first time we were looking for something quiet and laid back. We are two adults and two teenagers, fishing was fun the pontoon boat was fun the cabin was clean and rustic. However there was a down side during the day the cabin was "HOT" after being gone all day even with the fans we could not cool down the beds were small and uncomfortable not much room to move around and the shower was two minutes and out of hot water. We had a small issue with the washer Frank came over the next day to fix. We did not want to use the oven because it created to much heat in the already hot cabin I was disappointed because everything we read was this was a go to place. They seem like nice people but they are slow to return phone calls and yes I know they have a day job it just took to long in my opinion to return phone calls we will probably not stay there again. They may try making hot heater bigger and a ductless HVAC unit something to cool the cabin down just my 2 cents worth. This is why I can only give a fair rating.

A fantastic Michigan outdoor retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Uncle Frank's Cabin from 7/30/15-8/8/15 and can't speak highly enough of this cabin's amenities, location and owners! We enjoyed fishing everyday either morning or night and caught several bluegill, redear, crappie, bullhead, northern pike and largemouth bass topped off by a 21" 5+ lb. monster caught by my wife on our final evening! Our son was also thrilled to have caught his first two "lure caught" bass (had only caught fish with live bait in the past) ever on one of our evening pontoon ventures.

The cabin is both private and scenic, and it's location allowed us to "day trip" to Tahquamenon Falls, Soo Locks, Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City, have beach days at Petoskey State Park and Wilderness State Park both, and even a drive through the "tunnel of trees" south of Cross Village on our one rainy day. The cabin is also conveniently located just minutes from Cheboygan with a 24 hr. Walmart and several other grocery and shopping options if needed. Very easy access from I-75 and US-31 as well!

I must also mention that during our trip we experienced a brief power outage due to some strong storms that passed through the area (main line elsewhere, not at the cabin), and the owners could not have been more accommodating as they immediately contacted the utility, dropped off fresh drinking water for us, and made sure to check in with us for when the power was restored, even offering to reimburse the day if we needed to book a hotel for the night (which we did not)! A situation that was well beyond their control, though they did all they could reasonably do to try to avoid it negatively impacting our stay!

Thank you so very much for what was and will remain a VERY MEMORABLE vacation for our family and we certainly look forward to staying with you again! Your home is most certainly a Michigan jewel!
