We, Karen and Jim, have lived just outside of Seattle for over 40 years. Because we are both still working, we can visit Casa Campanitas only twice a year and did not want to waste our pearl by the sea, so we decided to share its amazing ambiance and location when we are not able to be there.
Karen purchased this condo in 1996
Almost 20 years renting with glowing reports back....including multiple exclamations of 'the pictures don't do it justice!' We fell in love with Casa Campanitas the minute we walked in the door when looking for a vacation property in 1996 ...the charm of the Old World Architecture, and the location were unbeatable, a combination we saw in no other properties. Every time we stay, it is better than I remember, even after all these years.
This condo is a true find. It has three bedrooms, a great location at the beach and a pool on the terrace level right out your door, open-air rooms with the brick and arches Old World Charm– ambiance that is becoming a rarity as high-rises and modern condos and hotels take over. Casa Campanitas is definitely a marvelously unique experience.
What a great location. Waking up to the ocean in front of you. Watching the sunset each night. A few steps down and you're on the beach.. We had happy hour each night in the condo watching the sunset. Then a quick walk into town for dinner. Sleeping with the sounds of the waves was so relaxing! Can't wait to get back again to PV!
Casa Campanitas was just what our family was looking for - a private getaway with old Mexico character and charm, tropical beaches with all their attractions at the bottom of the stairway, and fun nightlife only a short cab ride away. Our twenty-somethings enjoyed the party atmosphere in town, and we elders enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at the casa. Like others, we found that the pool and terrace were our own private getaway. I loved the convenience of having our own kitchen and prepared a couple of breakfasts and our Christmas Eve dinner. Hortencia, who we hardly saw, quietly ensured that we came home to a clean and tidy abode each evening, and Hugo was available by phone to answer questions about our Christmas Day excursion. We will recommend this rental to our family and friends!
Although our stay was during the rainy season, the weather turned out great. We were able to swim in the pool with no other guests so it felt like we had our own private pool. Hortensia the housekeeper was so personable and made sure the condo was super clean. It was an easy walk down to the beach and so many different restaurants were so close. We met so many wonderful people in PV during our stay that we will definitely return. From the waiters at the restaurants to the vendors that set up our daily activities. We were busy every day. The taxis were so clean and the drivers always gave us information on the town. We brought our daughter and her friend and they were in awe of the condo, the views, the people and had such a great time. This was such a great stress-free vacation.
This condo was splendid. It is the perfect location literally just steps to the beach and yet just a 10 minute walk to the shops and restaurants in the Romantic Zone. You feel like the ocean is in your apartment. The sound of waves all day, the beautiful sunsets enjoyed from the lovely veranda. And if you are not the beach type, there is a pool 20 feet away right outside your door. We were there for a week and nobody else used the pool. It was like having our own private pool. And Hortencia, the maid, is the sweetest woman...we loved chatting with her. I have stayed in other condos but this one is nicer because of the huge open arches and the privacy. It feels like it is just you and ocean. We would stay here again for sure.
We couldn't possible say enough wonderful things about the time we spent in PV. The condo is in a location that can't be beat. An easy walk down to the beach, an easy walk to old town PV with tons of restaurants. The condo itself is spacious, modern enough, while still maintaining traditional Mexican style. The living room opens to the ocean and you cannot beat the sound of the waves each night and morning. We go to PV every year and this unit is by far the best for the price. The rental process was simple and the owners excellent and responsive.
Stayed at Casa Campanitas with my boyfriend for a week in November and enjoyed every second of our trip! First off, PV is a vacationer's paradise with something to do for everyone! We loved the people, food, ocean, beach and jungle-like tropics. All that aside, we feel staying at Casa Campanitas really put our trip over the top! It's such a special place and far superior to any plain-Jane hotel room or large resort timeshare, as those can be found everywhere and are all relatively alike, while Casa Campanitas is one of a kind! The authentic charm of this home is unreal... Beautiful brick & tile work, curved archways, open-air living and the view! Talk about feeling like you're on the edge of the world! There's a lot to do in the Vallarta area, but after a couple excursions, we'd seen enough and couldn't wait to get back to the beach and condo.
Casa Campanitas has an extremely genuine Mexican allure to it, with a location that cannot be beat! We really enjoyed the convenient ocean access and would walk down to Playa de los Muertos every morning (we had no issues with the stairs, but some w/ young kids or bad knees may prefer taking a $2-3 cab ride instead). We'd find a couple chairs, stick our toes in the sand and rotate between swimming, eating, bartering, sun-bathing & drinking! We'd stay down there all day and then trek back to the Casa and get ready for our night. At night, we'd stroll into the heart of Old Town, which is just a short walk downhill. PV has some phenomenal restaurants and many are within walking distance (or a cheap cab fare). Later, we'd stumble home or cab it, depending on the amount of margaritas consumed! Every night we'd sleep soundly to the crash of waves on the beach below and wake up each morning to a view of the ocean I will never forget! We'd start our day w/ breakfast on the patio, watching the beach action begin and once we were ready, would head down ourselves and do it all again!
Hortensia (the housekeeper) really goes out of her way to make your stay as chore free as possible. Her services and thoughtfulness greatly exceeded our expectations set from staying at typical high-end resorts.
Casa Campanitas is extraordinarily special and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to stay some place romantic, full of authentic charm, fully equipped, extremely convenient, beautiful &/or incredibly unique! We had the time of our lives and will definitely return!
Regardless of your desired activity level (or lack of one), Puerto Vallarta has something for you. There is a wide variety of things to do, from sedentary to rugged land and water activities in and around Puerto Vallarta, many begin within a short walking distance of Casa Campanitas.
If you like sightseeing, stroll along the Malecon north to the square for people watching (a true cultural event on Sundays when the whole family comes to town with children dressed to the nines) artwork-painting and outdoor sculptures, visit Puerto Vallarta's most famous church— Our Lady of Guadalupe, take a trolley ride tour of the city or catch one of the tours to Yalapa or Chico's Paradise where you can wade or swim in a spectacular river, or have lunch and watch others as they body surf the pools and eddies. Depending upon the season, there are neighborhood street events and bazaars with great fun, great food and great people watching.
For something requiring less effort, you can relax and have Hugo arrange for a dinner prepared at the casa that includes with cleanup freeing you to dine and relax on the terrace by the pool or in the diningroom at Casa Campanitas. Walk down our steps to the beach to snorkel, swim, and sunbathe, then order drinks or a meal under restaurant palapas— just minutes away on the beach.
Whether or not you like bird watching or whale watching, you will enjoy seeing dolphins and whales that winter in the bay as they dive and spout, and observe the pelicans diving for fish or flying overhead with terns, green mealy parrots and other avian creatures.
Parasail, rent a fishing boat or take any of a number of specialized cruises and tours - hiking, biking, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, boating, or kayaking- that begin on our beach or just a few minutes walk north at the pier. Visit the botanical gardens by city bus or cab a bit south of town and plan for a river swim and leisurely lunch as part of your day's outing.
If you want to shop you can do so on the beach. Vendors stroll the area and offer a wide variety of merchandise. For an even greater selection, walk 10-15 minutes or take a taxi to Old Town Puerto Vallarta where restaurants and shops abound.
Plan a romantic evening at the beach watching the Mexico sun go down and enjoying the evening fireworks, make reservations for an ocean sunset dinner cruise on the Marigalante Spanish galleon, or party 'til the wee hours at any of a number of hotels, bars or restaurants like Puerto Vallarta's La Iguana Restaurant where you can participate in an authentic Mexican fiesta.
There are MANY activities and things to do while you are enjoying the warmth and charm of the Mexican people!
