This large penthouse apartment (84 m2) comes with underfloor heating and a beautiful high beamed wood ceiling. It has open plan living accommodation, and is furnished to the highest quality throughout. The well equipped kitchen has granite worktops, soft close cupboard doors and glass splash back. Dishwasher, washing machine and dryer are provided.The living area is extremely spacious, with French doors opening onto a south facing balcony, from where superb views of the Lauterbrunnen valley towards the Breithorn can be enjoyed. There is an outdoor table with two chairs. The living area has two large Lombok sofas, 32' flat screen TV with cable network, DVD player (with a selection of DVDs) and Harman/Kardon iPod/iPhone music docking station. The apartment also has free WiFi. The large bedroom has a reclaimed teak kingsized bed with White Company bedding. On the ground floor there is a ski/boot storage room for use by guests. The apartment has a designated undercover parking space.
Winter.: Lauterbrunnen is ideally situated to access the ski areas of Murren, Wengen and Grindelwald. The transport network is also ideal for non-skiers wishing to meet family and friends for lunch, or to access the whole area. There are other Winter activities to be enjoyed, including snowboarding, ice skating, ice hockey, curling, Nordic walking, sledging on designated trails, including the World's longest above Grindelwald which is 16.5 kilometres. In addition there are more than 100 kilometres of well-prepared winter walking paths, cross country skiing, snow-shoe trekking, ice climbing, and paragliding. Open-air ice rinks can be found in Murren and Wengen.
Spring, Summer and Autumn: The Lauterbrunnen valley is breathtaking at all times of the year. It is famous for its' numerous waterfalls cascading down the 300 metre high sheer cliffs. They are particularly impressive in Spring, when the valley floor is carpeted in alpine flowers. In Summer, hiking tends to be the main activity, and there are many well sign-posted trails which can be enjoyed, whatever you ability. For the more adventurous, there are several 'via ferrata' in the area and endless opportunities for some serious mountaineering and rock climbing. Summers can be hot, and other activities include swimming (pools in Lauterbrunnen and Wengen), and water sports on the beautiful nearby lakes of Thun and Brienz. Other activities include tennis, mountain biking, paragliding and parachuting (tandem flights available) and folklore/cultural events. If you tire of being active, relaxing on the balcony enjoying the spectacular view of the valley, or enjoying a meal at a lakeside restaurant is the perfect way to spend your time in Switzerland.
Local amenities: Lauterbrunnen provides a range of facilities and services, including train station, hotel restaurants, banks with ATM, ski and outdoor clothing shops, a small supermarket, baker, butcher with local produce, wine and cheese shop, and a picturesque church.
Locally produced cheeses and fresh eggs are offered for sale at several farms in the valley.
We were very pleased to find an apartment which is stylish and modern. All kitchen and bathroom fittings, bedding and towels are of good quality and with a comfortable bed and sofas, this made for a very enjoyable stay.
In a quiet neighbourhood and no traffic noise, the location is superb. There's very easy access to the higher meadows using the various cable cars and cog railways - staying for 3 weeks we bought the Half Price Pass.
To go into Lauterbrunnen, it's possible to catch the punctual bus a minute away or walk for 10-15 mins using the footpath by the river.
Queries were answered promptly by Michael and there's a local agent on hand in case of problems.
We found this apartment to be an excellent base for the many walks in the area and have no hesitation in recommending it.
Without doubt one of the nicest apartments we have stayed in. Beautiful open plan living area, lovely bedroom and great bathroom. We thought the photos were good but the reality is even better. Stunning south facing views, beautiful waterfalls, great food, an idyllic location, we have a lot of great memories. Communication with the hosts was so easy and the lady who manages the apartment from Lauterbrunnen is great. Thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful home.
We would definitely recommend this superb apartment in a beautiful setting. There is a really comfy bed with quality cotton bedding, a lovely bathroom and loads of wardrobe space. We only ate out twice in ten days as we preferred to sit on the balcony looking at the mountains. Dinner was easily prepared in the luxury kitchen with quality china, glasses etc. We also did not use our car for ten days as the public transport is so good. We walked miles, the paths are so easy to follow, the wild flower meadows stunning. We absolutely loved it, do not hesitate to book it!
Having camped in Lauterbrunnen previously we thought we'd go for a bit more comfort this time and this superb apartment didn't disappoint. Lovely location with amazing views down the valley and only a few minutes walk into the village. The apartment has everything you need in the way of facilities but what we really loved was the view. We stayed four nights and didn't turn the TV on. Would definitely recommend.
Nothing has been left to chance by the owners who have made this penthouse into an opulent out of this world place to stay. Everything is catered for in sheer luxury. We will be back!! The views from the balcony are stunning. We can't speak highly enough of how the apartment is maintained and felt like we were the first people to stay there. It felt brand new in everyway. We would thoroughly recommend this property to everyone we know. Camping Jungfrai restaurant was most pleasing. We went to the Schilthorn for Champagne Breakfast and were amazed at how breathe taking the views were. The skiing was brilliant as was the sledging! An amazing holiday and a truly stunning location.
This apartment does not disappoint. In fact, the listing undersells how fabulous the place is. Lauterbrunnen has a special place in the heart of our family. We've been several times, and have always stayed at Camping Jungfrau. This time we decided to research places in the village, and when we found the listing for the penthouse we were certain we would be comfortable and enjoy our stay. We ended up loving the place so much that we will surely return the next time we visit Lauterbrunnen.
The apartment decor is high end, with super comfy couches for relaxing after a day of hiking. Meals are spent out on the patio, with para gliders and the snow covered mountains as the backdrop to a wonderful meal. You're guaranteed a great nights sleep in the bed, with linens that are soft and inviting. If you need an extra blanket the bed has a warm furry blanket that is great for bedtime or just cuddling on the couch. You can literally unpack your bags and feel like you are home in this perfect apartment.
The kitchen is better than well stocked and makes meal prep a snap. The appliances are high end and the convection oven makes baking a snap. We dined in all days but one, and we never lacked for cooking tools in the place. The owners have thought of everything.
We happened to stay at the apartment during the World Cup, so having television set up with English channels was a real treat. And, the wifi is an added bonus that let's you stay connected while affording you the ability to research excursions before you venture out. The location is absolutely perfect for setting out to explore the village or the valley.
We also very much appreciated the in-unit washer and dryer. It made check out day easy, as we moved on to our next holiday stop with clean laundry...a real plus!

The spectacular Lauterbrunnen valley with its dramatic mountain scenery lies at the heart of the Jungfrau region. It is probably the most spectacular glacial valley in Europe. Surrounded by unspoilt beauty, the area is dominated by the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. The valley is the perfect starting point for all year round hiking, and Winter snow sports. The famous 300 metre Staubbach waterfall is near to the property. Lauterbrunnen is ideally situated for accessing the car free resorts of Wengen and Murren, the Jungfraujoch (the highest railway station in Europe) and the revolving restaurant at the summit of the Schilthorn (made famous by the James Bond film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service). Travel time from Calais is approximately 9hrs by car and the airports at Geneva, Basel and Zurich are all within 3 hours. Bern airport is approximately 45 minutes, whilst Interlaken with its' shops and main rail links is 20 minutes away.
Ski: Lauterbrunnen is an ideal location for easy access to the slopes above both sides of the Lauterbrunnen valley. The area lies at the heart of Jungfrau skiing region, with access to Wengen (1274m), Mürren (1650m) and Grindelwald (1034m), with over 213 kilometres of pistes, and over 30 kilometres of cross-country skiing paths. Heli-skiing is available. The famous Lauberhorn FIS World Cup downhill and slalom races are held in Wengen each January. The Inferno downhill race is also held annually in Murren in the week following. The apartment is just a few seconds walk to the ski bus service to Lauterbrunnen station (connection to Wengen by cog train), Murren cable car and the Schilthorn cable car at Stechelberg for access to Murren.To access Grindelwald, you can ski from Kleine Scheidegg on superb long pistes beneath the north face of the Eiger, or if you wish, take the train, Postbus, or if you have a car, drive to the village in about 20 minutes.

The rates quoted are for 7 nights for a maximum of two people. However, fewer nights will be considered, but a minimum of four is applicable. The rates include, bed linen and towels, electricity, heating, hot and cold water, covered private parking, boot and ski storage, taxed garbage bags, daily visitors tax and final cleaning. Payment is in Swiss Francs unless otherwise agreed by the owner.
