About Paula Morris/Deborah Hyman
We purchased what was then called ‘Llangollen' in 1991. We have been fortunate to have a lovely cabin to which we continue to escape where the air is fresh, rush hour is only created as we hurry back from the pond so not to miss out on our nightly ritual of sitting on the expansive deck while sipping wine as we gaze out toward the mountain to watch the sunset. We want to share this alluring peaceful get away with people who appreciate mother nature and crystal clear starry or moonlit skies. You'll have both the rural mountain feel and all of the conveniences of home. Perfect for a romantic getaway or for kids who will love to romp in our back yard. Over the past 25 plus years, our cabin has been modernized with new floors, windows and doors, new electric oven, frost free refrigerator, window A/C units, efficient ceiling fans all topped off with the mountain facing deck.

Why Paula Morris/Deborah Hyman chose Lost River
Almost heaven Red Bud Haven is located in the pollution free mountains of West Virginia. Only two hours drive from Washington D.C., (3 hours Baltimore, 3 1/2 hours Richmond, 5 hours Philadelphia) this newly renovated cabin is tucked away in the woods and offers you the pristine beauty of the Shenandoah Mountains. Nearby is the George Washington National Forest and Lost River State Park, there is a wide range of recreational activities: swimming, horseback riding, hiking, antiquing, fishing, canoeing, archery, as well as fine dining or simple, country eating. During the winter months, skiing is convenient. There is a local museum that has World War II artifacts. You can even take a yoga class at the local yoga center. Lots to choose from or just relax and enjoy the beautiful unobstructed mountain view seen through the large a-frame window. Washington magazine writes, “Tucked between two mountain ridges, the valley, a couple of hours from Washington, is drawing more weekenders. The lure is rugged woodland scenery, tumbling mountain streams and outdoor fun - hiking, fishing, biking, canoeing, swimming, rafting, climbing, horseback riding.' You'll have your choice of the Lost River State Park, where the Hidden Trails Stables is located for horseback riding, archery, outdoor pool, tennis and a restaurant. Also nearby is the Trout Pond Recreation Area at the George Washington National Forest, with fishing, a gentle lake with a beach for swimming, lovely light walking or more serious hiking.

A great Thanksgiving retreat
We spent the Thanksgiving holiday there (4 nights) as a family retreat with our three kids and our beagle. Everything went super well; the cabin was clean and functioning as advertised. The place is beautiful and quiet. The Lost River State Park is indeed a hidden gem, we had great hikes there. During the reservation and pre-travel process the owners were very helpful and kind. Definitely recommend to people looking for a nature getaway!
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Redbud Haven is a unique cabin that shelters over 30 years of guests and our family fond memories.
Our get away has been graced with folks who sought a quite place for creating music, a safe road to stroll under a moon lite night, or a cozy couch on which to snuggle while reading or binging on their favorite Netflix series.
Come to Lost River and be a memory maker.

Quiet, cozy, and clean, with a well-equipped kitchen. Responsive owners.
We needed a weekend away from DC and politics. This cozy cabin in the woods was the perfect antidote to city life - at least for a few days. The dogs enjoyed the new smells in the woods - coyotes, deer, and bears - oh my! The kitchen is small but has everything you need - pots, pans, utensils, dishes, cutlery, coffee maker. Bring some wine, favorite DVDs, and books for a restful evening away from the big city. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the Lost River Diner and drinks at the bar at the Guest House at Lost River are recommended - and both nearby (5 minutes and 1 minute away, respectively). Or bring your own supplies and enjoy a relaxing time in this sweet cabin.
Thank you so much for your glowing review. This weekend getaway is just a 2.5 hour ride from the DC Metropolitan area. Redbud Haven will have heat available in addition to the very efficient existing wood burning stove before year's end.
The reviews speak for themselves. We are so excited that our cabin is making a hit with our guests.
Clean and comfortable in a gorgeous setting. A wonderful escape!
We had a great weekend. The house was comfortable, and when it got a little cold the wood stove kept us cozy. Be sure to get out on the deck after dark - the view of the night sky so far from city lights is breathtaking.
The owners were very responsive and friendly. We were in the area for a wedding, but I'll be keeping it in mind for the next time I want a quiet weekend as well. I'd return in a heartbeat!
Thank you Joshua . We are so happy you and your friends had a great experience at our lovely cabin. The moonless sky allows the Stars to twinkle even brighter. Next time you can make a cozy fire in the outside pit and lay back and gaze at the stars. We look forward to you being our guest again real soon. Deb and Paula
This sweet Cabin served us well in one of our favorite getaway places. It had all we needed to relax

Cute little cabin in peaceful forest
We had a lovely time. It is a beautiful little cabin. Everything was in excellent order. Did not hear a peep from anyone bar the birds. Back deck in the late afternoon is wonderfully relaxing.
Quietude is paramount.
Glad you enjoyed your time at our cabin.
Great spot to get away for a long weekend
We really enjoyed our weekend here. The house was nestled away and private, but close enough to activities as well. We went hiking and fishing and swimming at Trout Pond Lake nearby. The house had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked. It was just what we needed!
Conveniently location within a 20 min. drive to one state and one National park. Both offer swimming, hiking and biking trails. Lost River State Park has fee based horse back riding trails, picnic shelters and swimming pool facilities. Trout Pond is nestled within the George Washington National Forest. Beautiful stream fed pond with clean beach sand and gorgeous views. State annually stocks trout for recreational fishing. Permits are required.
