Very peaceful rural location, 30 miles from the Mediterranean
Can Llouquette is recently renovated and set in 11 acres of forest and garden with it's own stream. It has a large pool, a mature garden, vegetable garden, fields, a stream with picnic tables, hammocks and BBQs.
We are in the Eastern Pyrenees, in the most southerly valley in France. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty only thirty miles from the Mediterranean at the start of the Pyrenean mountain range. We are only minutes from Spain and can be reached from Girona or Barcelona, as well as Perpignan airports.
What makes Can Llouquette extra special is that it is set in its own little valley. It is extremely private with no neighbours and has acres of meadows, forest and stream for you to enjoy. Yet the local bakery, cafe and restaurant is only 5 minutes away and market towns are only a quarter of any hour away.
We have four restored holiday cottages for rental: La Bergerie (for four people), Le Pommier (for two people), El Casot (for two people) and L'Atelier (for four to six people).

Why Simon Williams chose Montferrer
We searched for years for a property with land and a river with several outbuildings. After two years of circumnavigating Canigou on the French / Spanish border we found this place and fell in love. It is tucked away in its own valley, and feels safe and secluded.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
You can see the stars at night and listen to owls. There is no light pollution, no noise from roads and no neighbours. Listening to the stream, birds and butterflies it was hard not to fall in love with the tranquility of the place. And the air quality is wonderful, it is a joy to breathe the night-time air!

Best place we have ever been.
We found Can Lloquette to be a haven in France. Couldn’t say enough about our hosts, Simon and Ashley. The peace and relaxation we felt was restorative to say the least. The casual interactions with the other guests was also an informal but fun surprise for us. We loved meeting with guests from all around the world. Blue, the resident dog, is an exceptional piece de resistance to an authentic experience in the Pyrenees mountains of France. Visit this Mas at your peril, you won’t want to leave. Convenient to the Med and many other places. This is the real France!

A little something special
From the moment you drive into Can Llouquette, you know you're in for something pretty special. We arrived to a warm welcome and were quickly settled into Le Pommier, an apartment that opens out on to a lovely open view. A beautiful setting; a very high standard of accomomdation; friendly, knowledgeable and discreet hosts ... it's a lovely place to switch off and just be or as a base to explore the towns in the local area. A week just wasn't quite long enough.
Superb, superb, superb!
We could not have had a more splendid vacation. Can Llouquette is exactly what we needed. The property's gorgeous surroundings are something out of a postcard. We were finally able to relax and enjoy some tranquility. Simon and his family have really created a special place in this valley. Their advice for what to do in the area was excellent, and their hospitality was great. It was sad to say goodbye! Thank you for everything, we plan to return! -D Johnson
Just lovely, a real find.
We flew into Bezier and drove up. . The rural roads are windy but very easy and almost traffic free, and the views are spectacular.
And when you arrive Can Llouquette is just lovely, a real find. Meticulously cared for, pool, garden, fields, river and the holiday cottages. Ours was an old apple store and beautifully refreshing on hot, hot days.
It has a lovely terrace with BBQ and it was such a pleasure eating here listing to the birds and the stream.
We really enjoyed the picnic tables at the river too.
The area is breathtaking ... and there is so much within a short distance.
If you are looking for a bucolic break, away from the crowds but with plenty to do for kids and adults in the vicinity, you'll do hard to find better.
Amazing hospitality in a stunning setting
Simon and Ashley were the perfect hosts during our wonderful stay at Can-LLouquette. If you are after an über relaxing break in a beautiful corner of France with exceptionally knowledgable and hospitable hosts, then you would do well to find anywhere more suitable than here. The setting is stunning, and both the property and the expansive grounds are extremely well maintained making it very hard to leave the place everyday. However, on the days you do want to explore, the location is ideal for accessing the mountains, the coast, and everywhere in between. There is no shortage of interesting towns and villages to explore locally with lively markets etc. on both sides of the French / Spanish border. In short, highly recommended.
We are in the Vallespir Valley of the Pyrénées Orientales, on the outskirts of the village of Montferrer. This is the southern-most region in France and the sunniest, averaging over 300 days per year. At the heart of the region is Mount Canigou dominating the horizon from almost every vantage point. The planes undulate with vineyards laid out before the impressive mountains. The higher valleys are covered with oak, ash, beech and chestnut. The views are exceptional, the roads ‘untroubled’, and the weather very agreeable. There are no properties overlooking us, no busy roads, no light pollution, just perfect peace. The nearest market town is Prats de Mollo at 15mins. The nearby French and Spanish Mediterranean coast has many long beaches and secluded coves: Argeles, Collioure, Roses and Cadaques. Perpignan at 1hr is the capital and other famous cities and market towns within reach include: Ceret, Figueras, Carcassone, Montpellier, Girona, Besalu and Camprodon. Other Activities: Cuisine, wine tasting, sight seeing, Spain, Vallespir Rally, spas, watersports. Golf: There are some outstanding courses not far from the house. The two closest courses are Domaine de Falgos and Camprodon (over the border in Spain). The closest of the two is the stunning 18-hole course at Domaine de Falgos. Established in 1991, it is a Par 70 of 5044 mt, where you'll also enjoy an exceptional panorama: the snows of Canigou and blue of the Mediterranean. The Camprodon Golf Club boasts a 9-hole course located in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Camprodon Valley. The club has made the most of the natural course of the River Tortell which cuts across many of the holes: meaning that skill, strategy and focus are required. Please Note: we have four gites, the above rates are based on 2 adults, please inquire about possibilities for more or less people. Our swimming pool is open from May to end of September. A shopping service is available for your arrival day, please ask if required. Security deposits are returned after your holiday. Please note, gas, electricity are included in the rental price. We charge a cleaning fee amounting to 70 Euros for the two smaller apartments, 90 for the larger. Sheets are 20 Euros a set, towels (a set of hand, bath and pool) are 6 Euros a set. Taxe de sejour (0.33 cents per day per adult) is also paid at the end of the stay. Please note: since 2016 payment through certain websites (HomeAway, FewoDirekt, Homelidays etc) have started taking service fees on top of card transaction fees off your payment to us for your holiday. Even though we pay substantial marketing subscriptions to all of them bar Airbnb (which is wholly commission based). You always have the opportunity to pay us directly to save such transaction fees, so in such instances where you have chosen to pay via the third party (which we have no issue with) we will however ask that the holiday rental fee is fully honoured, to cover this additional new expense to ourselves.
