Why Tony Cardinali chose Torno
We had a dream to create a luxurious vacation property for International Travellers. We fell in love with Villa Matilda in the lake side village of Torno on Lake Como. The locals call it “Il Castello” as it was originally a fortified castle tower. We have lovingly restored this castle, with luxurious and antique fittings, for a unique vacation on Lake Como.

Week on Lake Como
This is one of those rare properties that look even better in person that depicted online. It is truly a beautiful property.
I stayed there last week on a boys trip with my two sons and we had a wonderful time. The views are breathtaking from the villa. The location on the lake is also ideal. It's a short walk to the docks to catch the ferries to take you anywhere on the lake.
Tony , the host, is very knowledgable and helpful when it comes to attractions and activities on the lake. He's there to help with anything you would need. I will not hesitate for a second to stay there again!
Great memories made!
Villa Matilda is a wonderful choice to use as a base for exploring Lake Como. The property has access to a Roman road, which can lead you into the town of Torno for restaurants or ferry access, or also up the hill to a number of hiking trails. Torno itself is a picturesque village only 30 minutes from the town of Como by car or boat and has several good restaurants.
The house itself is divided into a number of apartments so you may see or hear other guests, especially at the pool. Parking is a challenge and we ended up not moving our rental for the duration of our stay, but with the boats and buses, we didn’t feel the need to. The view is spectacular and we spent much of our free time on the balcony watching the boats on the lake. The bedrooms are mostly occupied by the beds, but all of the rooms have been updated and decorated nicely and there is a small family room and plenty of outdoor space.
Tony is a wonderful and accommodating host. He recommended restaurants and regional dishes and which villas to visit, and was immediately responsive if we had any questions. He also helped up move our luggage up and down the steep hill side. Definitely use him as a resource if you haven’t been to Como before.
Fabulous vacation rental!
I do not even know where to begin. The villa is beautiful and our 2-bedroom apartment had all the comforts of home. The view is incredible and the grounds are kept up immaculately. The apartment is tastefully decorated and exudes Lake Como. Tony even stocked the kitchen with staples before our arrival. We had a mishap that was completely unrelated to the villa. My husband was injured while in Bellagio. Tony bent over backwards to help me while I frantically tried to figure out the logistics of a Como hospital and getting back home. I highly recommend and we will return, hopefully without injury. Do not hesitate to book.
Family fun in Como
The apartment was the perfect size for a family of four. Tony greeted us on arrival and checked in on us from time to time. The complimentary snacks were greatly appreciated and it was wonderful to return from a hot day of sightseeing to the on-property pool. I would recommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for a comfortable stay in Como.
Great visit on Lake Como
The property was beyond our expectations. The owner, Tony, was fantastic! He provided us with a variety of meal products, including wine. He gave us great information about the area, including a reservation at a hard to get restaurant. We had dinner with Tony and his son at a small local restaurant. He even drove us to the airport in Milan instead of us taking the train. Best vacation ever! Would do it again in a heart beat.
Fabulous place to stay in Lake Como
This property was amazing - it was immaculately clean, the host provided snacks, Champagne, a bottle of wine and breakfast fixings in the stocked kitchen. The pool is such a delight and was wonderful to relax at on the warm summer day. I would highly recommend this VRBO!
Torno is a really charming village which stretches out into lake Como with its rocky promontory. It has maintained the forms of the ancient village in the narrow streets, historic houses, beautiful local churches, the characteristic fountains and the quaint piazza on the lake, it's called the little Portofino of the Como Lake.
Torno is 4 km from Como, 15 km from Bellagio and only 58km from Milan. Milan is easily reached by high speed train from Como and we can also offer a private shuttle service to both Milan Malpensa airport and Milan Linate airport.
Torno has is very own lake historic ferry stop which offers a beautiful and relaxing way to explore all of Lake Como. Torno is perfectly positioned on the main ferry routes for all of Lake Como. Services run regularly (every 20mins) both to Como, Cernobbio and across to Moltrasio. There is also a high speed service to Bellagio.
Villa Matilda is only a short walk to the Bus stop, ferry stop, and main piazza which offers bars, restaurants, gelaterias and services (banking, pharmacy etc).
