Vacaciones en Bretaña

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage, very well presented

  • 3 of 5

The gite was extremely clean and well presented. Bread, milk and wine etc. on arrival was very welcome after a long and delayed journey. It is as the pictures suggest but there are no longer bunk beds upstairs.

The garden was fantastic and we enjoyed lots of time outside when the weather was good.

We had a good holiday but felt it could have been better. I agree with q the review below in that a folder with local attractions, markets etc. may have been useful. We managed to go to a local moules festival, but only found it because our friends gite nearby had info on it !

We have 2 children under 2 and found the interior of the gite very difficult. There is not much space downstairs for 'play' not great when the rain strikes !! The stairs, whilst beautiful, are very shiny wood - not great for crawling babies and toddlers. We bought our own travel stair gate which is a must if you stay here with children.

My dream of sitting out in the evenings with a glass of wine didn't happen as there are no windows at all facing the garden. It is impossible to hear the children from the garden. If you stay here with kids you will need a baby monitor to be able to relax.

In summary, I would recommend this property for couples and families who are over 6 years of age.

Ask for your exit instructions when you arrive, they are a little different than we were used to !

Excellent setting - lovely building and facilities

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable facilities in a very well converted farm house. The owners - Janine and Steve were very helpful and friendly with nice touches such as home grown vegetables and home cooked cakes. Having a fluent French speaker proved a bit of a life saver as we had a serious breakdown! I would thoroughly recommend this gite if your after a quiet location and have a car.

Only one minor suggestion - if you haven't done some research before you come out its worth doing so! Steve and Janine are helpful but perhaps a couple of sheets with some suggestions as to better beaches, good days to visit market towns, rainy day options etc etc.

Le Plessix Gite

  • 5 of 5

What a superb place to find. The gite was perfect even better than described. There are all mod-cons but none of the character has been lost. It was clean, well maintained and there were some lovely little extras. There is a full sized table tennis table and a large trampoline. The gardens are superb as is the equipment provided. Sun loungers tables chairs and a huge barbecue. This garden is huge and private with no one to overlook it.

There are supermarkets within easy reach and a boulangerie in the village of Plumauden together with a pharmacy a general store and a bar. Within easy reach there is the Mediaeval city of Dinan and also Le Mont St Michel together with wonderful beaches close by.

On our arrival we were welcomed with lots of goodies. These were wine, butter, jam, bread and super home grown ( by the owners ) crispy lettuce. The owners Steve and Janine are lovely people and anything you asked for was dealt with straight away.

Mid week we were given more lovely lettuce and a wonderful dessert which I must have the recipe for.

I would recommend this gite to anyone including my family. To finish I would like to say go on do yourself a favour book a couple of weeks. I will endeavour to do so.Thank you Steve and Janine for a lovely week.

Relax in this beautiful gite.

  • 5 of 5

We had the most relaxing time in this pretty, compact gite. It has everything that you could wish for, from the warm welcome from the owners complete with local bread, wine, butter, jam, and home-grown organic vegetables to a fully-equipped kitchen, washing machine, comfortable beds, and satellite TV (which our 9 year-old son appreciated). We enjoyed exploring the beautiful and immaculate surrounding villages on foot (we brought a scooter for our son), and in the car. Dinan is only about 15 minutes away by car and is worth several visits. We also saw Mont Saint Michael (2h away), and spent time in Rennes (1h). Our hosts, who live next door, were gracious and very helpful when we needed them, but were completely unobtrusive. Do be aware that local stores are not open all day every day (as Californians, we had to adjust!), although there is a supermarche in a nearby village that has everything you could want, and it is absolutely worth walking to the local patisserie every morning for fresh baguettes and pains chocolats. This is a stunning part of France, the local people were very friendly, and if you want to get away from the everyday hustle of busy life this is definitely the place for you.

Le Plessis is situated just 10 minutes from the magnificent medieval fortress town of Dinan. A place of great beauty and historic interest, Dinan overlooks an ancient port on the river Rance. 30 minutes to the vast sandy beaches of Cote d'Emeraude, Mont St Michel 1 hour. Within easy reach are many other places of interest including St Malo, Dinard, Rennes, Carnac, local châteaux and megaliths, and the Cote de Granit Rose. The forest of Paimpont, on the lake of La Marette, is steeped in Arthurian legend. There one can visit the tomb of Merlin the Sorcerer and the Fountain of Youth. Numerous local markets and cultural heritage festivals take place throughout the year.
