About Ron and Debbie
In 1972 we relocated from our home in upstate N.Y. to attend college. We fell in love with this valley and other than a 5 year stint in Florida, have resided here. Debbie has worked as a nurse for many years and Ron has been employed publicly and in private practice as a school psychologist/counselor and building contactor. Our daughter is a JMU graduate as well as myself and our son. We love to travel and spend time outdoors camping, kayaking, hiking and biking.
Ron and Debbie purchased this Apartment in 2003
Why Ron and Debbie chose Grottoes
The Shenandaoh Valley is widely known as one of the most beautiful areas in the U.S. . It has a deep and rich history particularly intriguing to Civil War buffs with the battlefields and relics so plentiful. We have incredible caverns, breathtaking mountain scenery, meandering rivers and rural tranquility. We have lived in Canada and throughout the US and find this area to be our favorite. Folks are friendly and helpful, quick to extend a wave or a freindly smile. A great place to unplug and unwind.

Quiet & Relaxing Weekend Getaway
We enjoyed our stay at Here'N'Back with Ron and Debbie! This little apartment has everything you need to be comfortable, a great view from their beautiful little porch, and easy access to the surrounding Shenandoah Valley. The town is lovely and walkable and a visit to the Grand Caverns is a must!
Here N Back is an adorable home away from home!
Ron and his wife are so accommodating and friendly. Ron gave me his cell number to contact him at anytime if I had a question about anything in town l. He recommended Lil Gus’s (which was amazing) in Grottoes and it’s just down the street. The little balcony is so cute and perfect to enjoy your morning coffee with the home-made biscottis. The bed is comfy, and the pillows are perfect. I have a bad neck and I didn’t wake up in pain, so that’s a huge bonus!! I’d highly recommend staying here. It’s worth the 20 minute drive to Harrisonburg.
Couldn’t be more comfortable!
The apartment is private with safe, easy access. And it’s centrally located within an hour drive of Shenandoah National Park’s 100 miles of hiking and Charlottesville’s fantastic sights with Vineyards, Breweries and Distilleries all in between. So happy to see Ron & Debbie are still offering fresh biscotti and coffee!
Property was very clean with all the necessities. Nice location to several wineries and to the several hiking paths in or near Shenandoah National Park. Wish we had stayed another 1-2 days to have time to visit the Presidential historical sites around Charlottesville.
Would visit again and would recommend this place for couples.

A cute, clean, well- decorated hide-away for two! Ron and Debbie are amazing hosts ready to answer any question with wonderful recommendations. Ron shared his fresh roasted coffee & biscotti with us. It was the perfect get-away...only a bit more than an hour from N. Virginia but it felt like we were in another state😀. We can’t wait to return!
