Giselle and Paul purchased this apartment in 2006
We bought our home here because we loved the area having visited three times before for holidays and wanting to buy a home in Italy. There are so many fantastic regions and areas around Italy but having driven up this coastline we were smitten by its lack of commercialism - the real Italy! We looked and looked for the right property and by chance, the day before we were coming home on our third trip, we spotted a newsletter outside the local agent with a picture of a property close to the beach. We went to view and could not believe that it was on the beach! We had looked at so many property details but had found nothing that was really suitable for us, our children and grandchildren. So a decision was made to buy it and do the necessary renovations. At that time and for a few years after nothing else came up for sale so close to the beach, shops and restaurants! Family and friends just love our home, the private garden and location.
We chose Silvi because of the greenery, mountains and beautiful beaches. The beach, the beach, the beach .. so very close and no roads to cross! The rarity of this type of home on the beach was an absolute deciding factor for us! Not having to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas as we have our own to use on the public beach by our home. The use of these is included in the holiday rental cost!
We had a wonderful time at your beach house, would you believe this actually our 4th time here and I have no doubt we will return again,
We will leave the keys on the table along with €50 for cleaning. Thank you again for making our stay so pleasant.
Danke, Giselle. Wir kommen gerne wieder, wenn wir dürfen!
With family and friends I have stayed in this apartment four times! It really ticks all the boxes, food - very reasonable cost wise and locally produced. As is the wine, all so delicious. The region is Abruzzo where it is locally produced. Sometimes I look on wine bottles in England and see the Abruzzo label, selling at much higher cost!
The apartment caters for all ages with all requirements. Everything is provided and the apartment is very well equipped. Being a few paces to the beach no need to worry with small children. No roads to cross to get there.
I have never been anywhere so often ever,I love it so, because it is just so idilic, the venue and situation and just the whole area. Italy, that particular coastline and the local area of Silvi is very unique. Usually populated with local Italians, it has never been over crowded nor completely deserted, in all the times I've visited. It feels you are close to places that are familiar and yet one could be a million miles from anywhere they have been before.
There is so much to explore, with or without a car, it is easy to get around. Walking is fun, just have good walking shoes and possibly the best way to see anywhere. Recently we have hired a car, mainly to use getting to the airport further up the coast, at Ancona, approx an hour and a half north from Silvi. Pescara, is the more convenient option, eight miles or so from Silvi.
Visiting further across the country to Rome is possible to do in a day, on a trip from Pescara by bus taking less than 3hours. We have driven through the mountains to Rome, with more than one driver this is managable, taking under 3hours. This time we might go by train to Rome! Also leaving from Pescara.
There are many local places to explore and within an hour can be high up admiring views across the sea from Silvi Alta. Last time with friends, we spent the best part of a day here, having a lovely meal with all local produce before heading home. Atri, is another must for any visitor. Only a few miles inland and it was a Sunday, lots of people pouring from the big Church at the centre of Atri. A place that has gone back in time, somewhere very quaint and I shall visit again, next time.
There are very many good small shops locally and a hypermarket in Silvi. A wonderful market comes to Silvi on a Thursday, there's nothing they don't sell! In Pescara there are all the big city stores.
Writing this I can't wait for my next visit!
You will have the best holiday, I assure you
This apartment is home from home in the holiday sense of the word. Staying here blending in with the locals esp on market day,Thursday seeing a bit of local life in Silvi, everyone is so helpful. Lots of routes we discovered for a nice walk or jump on a bus and get into Pescara, the financial capital in 20 mins,Or stay on your doorstep and so easy to take a drink and book 120 steps to the beach,to sit and loose yourself! Fifteen mins walk along the beach to the town for all essentials. An easy journey to Rome for the day is possible, too. The tastefully decorated apartment is equipped catering for all needs. There is a comprehensive list of restaurants locally and all the necessary places one might need while staying away, chemist bus times etc.
My husband and I stayed here in September a couple of years' ago. I went back for "me" time for a girls' holiday last May and we are booked for this July with another couple. Three times in as many years says more than one could ever write esp from a person who never goes back to the same place twice! It ticks all the boxes and all needs thought of I would just say give it a try I am sure you will not be disappointed.
We had a lovely week here...The apartment was clean and well furnished and just a few paces from the beach where we relaxed for hours. We also enjoyed discovering some of the nearby towns and interesting drives into the hills.
My family stayed in this lovely apartment with good friends in May 2008 (7 of us altogether). It was newly furnished, very clean and decorated in good taste, with every amenity we could possibly need. The location is traditionally Italian (not too touristy) with a colourful local market, but also there are lively beach front restaurants and bars to wander along. The beach is indeed extremely close - just walk along a short path and you're greeted by clean sand and sea. No problem carrying both your deckchair and drink at the same time! We rented a car at Pescara airport and found the location easily with the help of the owner's directions. We recommend car rental if you want to explore the lovely nearby traditional villages and some fabulous restaurants up in the hills. If you prefer not to travel around, it's nice just to relax on the sand or have a long beach walk (stopping for great ice cream along the way!).
The location and facilities is near to everything you could possibly want but in an area secluded enough to be in your own little bit of heaven by the sea. The property itself is situated in a quiet area in square of houses which are traditionly of Italian design, with only a short 200 yd walk to an unspoilt beach, it's just fabulous. The property has been recently refurbished and is clean modern, extreamly comfortable and well-maintained. It has everything you could want and more, the three bedrooms are all large and comfortable, and the two large bathrooms make it an extra bonus. If you go to the beach the garden has an outside shower you can use before going into the house. On exploring surrounding arears, you have the beautiful mountains on one side where you can visit the laid back and the Ancient City of Atri and then you can try out as we did all the fantastic restaurants and coffee places back down to the sea, far too many yummy places to mention, but we had fun trying lots of them out. Buying the most amazing fresh foods in the local supermarket made it just as much a pleasure to eat in. We had great fun in the nearby local market and bought fresh produce there and we really did have the best time, the people are friendly and you can melt into the Italian way of life so easily. We really did have the best time, would highly recommend and can't wait to re-book.
Silvi Marina in Abruzzo is a typical Italian seaside town, popular with Italian holidaymakers although open all year round for the locals who live and work in the area. Silvi has many playgrounds along the beach as well as cafes serving fish and local cuisine, pizzas & ice cream. No car is needed as Silvi Marina is only 25 min from Pescara airport. A walk along the beach or road takes you into Silvi which has shops and restaurants.
Silvi Alta has amazing views and is a 5 min drive up into the hills. Aqua parks - one at Giulianova and one at Vasto. We are 2.5 hr car drive from Rome. Take the bus €15 each way and do Rome in a day! Abruzzo - a captivating region of Italy with dramatic scenery, skiing, superb local food, wine and great walks.
Ski: Skiing is available one hour's drive from Silvi. Roccarosso, Campo di Giove and other known ski resorts are all accessible by car.
