Lovely Riad

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience staying here with our 2 children. Lots of space, well equipped kitchen and beds were very comfortable. The location is optimal being in the center of the Medina.

Exceeded expectations, has a real 'wow' factor

  • 5 of 5

We have used HomeAway for holidays in the USA, Barbados and Italy, all were fantastic. We were a little more nervous about Riad Zalia as we have never been to Marrakech and have no interest in slumming it. As others have said, the pick up from the airport worked great, (also one of smartest airports that you will see), and is only a fifteen minute drive to the drop off point. Mustapha is there to greet you to help with bags etc. and walk you through the alley ways to the Riad. If you have never been to this sort of place it is certainly different! What you realise after a couple of days, is this is one of the smartest parts of the central Medina. Immaculately clean, well policed and no hassle from street sellers.

After a five minute walk through a maze of alley ways we reached Riad Zalia, my fifteen year old daughter had the look of 'where have you taken us'. At the moment Mustapha opened the door all my fears evaporated, the lighting, the soft music playing, the Riad looked absolutely stunning.

It is so much bigger than the pictures suggest. We were a family of four with two teenagers and loved all the space we were afforded. We arranged breakfast for each morning which which we had on the terrace. Majda is wonderful, her english is great. She is discrete but very chatty should you want too. We wished we had done the cooking class earlier as it was useful to get a feel around the market and where to buy food.

Useful tips :- (we traveled at Easter)

a. the house has as many towels as you want to use.

b. there were no mosquitos

c. there are many many mid priced restaurants within walking distance

d. the Riad is part of a housing group who pay for the ally way to be kept clean and the security guard located at the end of the passage is paid for by them and you do not need to tip him, He will escort you day and night.

e. the street opposite the taxi drop off point has all the fruit meat and veg you need for cooking. The supermarket has a good supply of beer wine and spirits.

f. Mustapha can arrange for you to use the taxi driver when and where you need its just a call. He will wait for you while you go shopping.

g. Mustapa is your concierge who can sort, trips, taxis shopping, meal bookings he makes a real difference to your stay.

Imagine all the service of a hotel with maid and reception but in your own private house.

We often say we will come back to a place, but of course never do. Riad Zalia may just be the exception! Truly blown away.

Beautiful Riad!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Riad Zalia in December 2016. The property is a quiet retreat not far from the hustle and bustle of the Medina. The staff was professional and kept the house spic and span for us. We opted for daily breakfast which always included fresh squeezed orange juice and was delicious as well as reasonably priced. The house was impeccably decorated and Joseph was very efficient with great communication. I would definitely stay at another of their properties!

Beautifully decorated oasis in the Medina

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time. We though Riad Zalia was beautifully decorated & provided a lovely peaceful haven for our trip.

We celebrated the birthday's of our daughters being 21 and 18. Majda provided a cooking lesson for our eldest daughter on her birthday and the produced an amazing meal which we all enjoyed.

It was extremely hot during our trip - well over 40 degrees most days. We did spend a lot of time in the plunge pool which helped us cool down.

The Riad was well appointed & the addition of hair dryers in each room was great with 3 women in our family. Its location was great for the Souks & Jemma El Fna square, we found the Moroccan people were friendly too.

The food prepared by Majda was amazing - she is a lovely lady & an asset to the Riad.

Mustapha was helpful organising trips for us.

The Atlas mountain trip to the Berber Village which Mustapha organised and accompanied us on was amazing - the scenery was stunning. We met with Saied - he took us all round the hillside village - followed by lunch in a local Berber house, followed by a trip to the lake, where we all had a paddle, before journeying back to Marrakech - a fantastic day out.

Mustapha also helped us organise a Quad Bike trip to celebrate our other daughter's 18th, many thanks to him and the Dunes & Desert team for an exhilarating and amazing experience - well worth it and would definitely do this again.

We would love to comeback to Marrakech and Riad Zalia would be our preferred property, but maybe when the temperature was a bit cooler!

We felt very at home in Zalia!

Great place, wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

We picked this place because we wanted something in the center of town and we were not disappointed. The house has a great location that is close to some great restaurants and shopping.

The riad itself was perfect. We stayed in several rentals during our vacation and this was my family's favorite place. The lowest level was pleasant and cool, the middle level had great bedrooms with adequate air conditioning and interesting furnishings and the roof was a great space to hang out and enjoy the sun. Everything is much bigger than the pictures let on.

The staff was very helpful. Mustafa was great at organizing trips and Majda made a great breakfast and did a great job cleaning the place. I wish we could have some more of her orange juice.

The best thing about the house was the location. My family - wife and 2 teenage girls - couldn't decide if we wanted a nice big house a little bit outside of town with a nice pool and access to other amenities or if we wanted to stay here. In the end we decided to stay here. It was a great decision. There were fantastic restaurants close by (recommended by Mustafa) and the souks and the markets and museums were all very walkable. At night when we would come back to the riad there was a security guard who would often walk us to our door through the maze of the neighborhood where the house was located.

I stayed at Zalia as a young single mum with 7 year old boy, I admit I were a little nervous about visiting Marrakech.

After a late night flight, we were greeted at the airport by mustapha, on route to zaila, he kindly stopped and picked us up some food to take home.

When we walked in to the house, what an amazing wow feeling. Stunning even late at night.

Spacious, clean, lovely little pool on top floor which did get plenty of use. Fully equipped for a great holiday.

We had Majda come and serve breakfast for us each morning, even had Majda cook an a amazing meal for us both one evening. Delicious!

So my son and I took to the souks and visited the main square. ( most days ) What an amazing experience, and such friendly people to help you, if you get a little lost.

Whilst in Marrakech we booked a tour to the Berber villages where you seen how Berber folk live, your invited In To there home, where you enjoy fresh mint tea. Amazing day. Well worth a visit.

We also visited a local waterpark which my 7 year had a great time.

Majorelle gardens is another fantastic place we visited.

We loved it that much, both at Zalia and Marrakech I've come home and booked flights to return for our Christmas break.

I'm in love with Morocco!!! Thanks for an amazing stay at your beautiful house, Joseph, Adam, mustapha, Majda. xxxx
