Most Brevard area homes with amazing mountain views are half an hour or more away from town. Here, just drive 5 minutes and you will arrive downtown with all it has to offer. At night, experience the dazzling view of the city lights. Despite its proximity to town, this house is very private. From the expansive back decks on a summer day, you can often hear distant music drifting up through the trees from the Brevard Music Center. In the fall, take in the amazing mountain view of changing leaves. Enjoy a huge stacked stone fireplace with large dining room and living room both with fabulous views. The kitchen has river rock granite counter-tops and new stainless steel appliances.
For cyclists... there is also a garage to store bikes or other outdoor equipment. Bracken Mountain Trail is almost just outside our back door.
The property also features a private pool with a 'twisty'slide and hot tub (both open only during the summer) surrounded by beautiful stacked stone rock work. There is a gated playground with a swing set, and a custom made tree-house for the bigger kids. The playground also has a picnic table and fire ring for backyard camp-outs. Also enjoy a lower kids deck with ping pong table and tire swing. For kicking back after an active day, the kids can hang out in the indoor game room with a Netflix ready TV/DVD with wifi and an air hockey table.

One of us is a cyclist/hiker and the other an art/ theater lover. Brevard, Asheville and surrounding areas are a haven for both. We live 30 minutes away from the house.
Robin McCollough purchased this house in 2002
Husband grew up going to camp here as a child. We vacationed here for 20 years before finally buying a house in the area.
When we considered selling this house the realtor said it was so unique he wouldn't know how to compare it to anything. It's a private family vacation compound in the middle of the woods, but you can get in the car and in minutes be in downtown Brevard. When we bought the property in 2002, the pool inspector gave us the history of how the pool had been built and the rock work implemented. It is remarkable because it is on the side of a mountain. He told us that he had actually submitted a bid to build the pool, and had made it outrageous never believing that it would have been possible to do. We also have an eclectic mix of antiques and contemporary art in this house.
Your home has surpassed our expectations. How beautiful and relaxing even with kids and grandkids! Each child had a spot to relax in and the adults were able to talk. We loved having our family reunion, birthdays and July 4th here. My parents came up twice. They are not in good health so it was perfect for them to come and go as they needed to. You were the perfect host and hostess - helping us with the pool etc. We have made some precious memories here.
Our trip was focused on mountain biking. As described, it's located near a trail head and very convenient to Pisgah National Forest. Only 25 minutes to DuPont State forest and 10 minutes to 2 local bike shops. The house is exactly as you see it in the pictures. It's was great and had everything we needed. The garage was great to store our bikes at night. Assuming we return to Brevard next year, I will rent this house again.
We loved this clean, inviting, cheerful house overlooking Brevard. Views were gorgeous both day and night. The home was warm, inviting, and comfortable, with lots of room for our family of 5 to spread out. Great for: families, probably best with older kids, since they're separated from the parents by a floor (master on main, kids' rooms down a level). Beautiful modern kitchen combined with rustic and homey decor. The owners, who are local, were wonderful - One evening we had a problem with the water supply, which they sprang into action to fix for us as quickly as possible. In spite of NO water at 5pm, we had enough for the night by 8, then a complete fix during the next day, with everything back to normal by that night. The house was a perfect home base for our rockclimbing trip in Pisgah National Forest. The town of Brevard was also inviting, with several great restaurants and shops. We would definitely recommend Brevard House to friends and family.
This was a great cabin - the views were incredible. Great for families. Nice location as it is only a few minutes from downtown but you feel like you are in the secluded mountains. We would love to stay here again!
This was a last minute booking; the owner was very accommodating and helpful. Even though we came in winter, our family had a wonderful 5 days at this amazing house. The house was clean and well maintained. It was actually much bigger than we needed. It was very spacious for our family of 5 adults and 1 toddler. I can see how you can fit up to 10 people on the property comfortably. Pictures do not do the property justice, the views are amazing. Due to a knee injury the day before vacation, we did not do very much in the local community except go to the grocery store. We cooked 3 meals a day in the fully stocked kitchen, had nightly fires in the fire pit and rarely had the tv on while staying at the Brevard House. This was the perfect home for reconnecting with family. Mornings, I spent in solitude watching the sun rise through the trees on the screened in patio. It was the first vacation we have had that was truly restful and relaxing. This was the perfect vacation....even without using the amenities of the pool and hot tub. Lastly, I was very impressed with how well this house was well equipped with everything one would need for a vacation in the mountains. Almost everything I brought with me was unnecessary because it was provided....except for my Keurig. :) You won't regret renting this house.
This is a great house in Brevard. We wanted to be as close to Brevard as possible, but in a house with a mountain view and mountain cabin feel. This is the place. Beautiful floor to ceiling windows with panoramic view looking over Brevard from the mountain. The drive into town takes 2-3 minutes. Very nice kitchen. Great space downstairs for kids/teens. Two large screened in porches. Very private. We were there third week in February, and look forward to a chance to come back during warmer weather and take advantage of the pool. We had a few problems, and the owners worked very hard to get them corrected. Highly recommended place to stay.
My family had worked hard all year, and we wanted to treat ourselves to a fantastic vacation for New Year's weekend. We were blown away by the beauty of this home and its location. The views from this home - sitting squarely at the top of a mountain - are stunning! Windows abound from all sides to allow the feeling of living in natural beauty that comes from the mountains. This - on top of endless activities in the home for the whole family to enjoy ... From ping pong and air hockey matches, to movies downstairs, the tree house and of course some of the best hiking in North Carolina in the Nearby Pisgah National Forest. This vacation was a WOW!
