A gorgeous cottage in idyllic countryside close to the historic town of Cluny, the religious village of Taize and the many wine routes of this beautiful region.
The cottage is in the grounds of a large country house, but is very private with panoramic views of glorious countryside. There is shared use of the owner's 12 meter swimming pool for summer visitors.
The cottage was fully restored to an exceptionally high standard by the previous owner. The front door opens into a kitchen/diner with custom built oak units and granite worktops. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a microwave and a dishwasher. The kitchen dimensions are 10'9 x 14'4 (3.28 x 4.37) excluding the staircase.
Off the kitchen is a short passageway with fitted cupboards housing the fridge and washing machine/drier. Opposite them is the door to a luxury bathroom that has both a bath and a separate shower cubicle.
At the end of the passageway is the living room with the original bread oven and bi-folding doors that open out fully onto the private terrace with wonderful views. The sofa opens up as a very comfortable double bed. There is a satellite TV (showing both French and British channels) which has an integrated DVD player. There is also free Wi-Fi. The living room dimensions are 12'6 x 14'1 (3.8 x 4.3).
Stairs from the kitchen lead up to a large, characterful mezzanine bedroom with oak beams, a 6 ft/180 cm bed and a large fitted wardrobe with plenty of hanging space, shelves and drawers. The bedroom dimensions are 11'6 x 11'9 (3.5 x 3.58) excluding the staircase and alcoves.
There is a spacious car port attached to the cottage for your sole use.
Fantastic beautifully restored cottage - lovely owner who has developed these former farm buildings into a real home from home. Very well appointed kitchen and bathroom. Very spacious sleeping mezzanine and comfortable sitting room with satellite TV. Wonderful accommodation with the added bonus of a lovely swimming pool adjacent to cottage and main house.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Richard's cottage. He was a perfect host , there when you needed him but not intrusive. The cottage is well equipped and the swimming pool a great asset. We particularly liked being able to eat out on the terrace suttounded by attractive gardens. Cluny itself is a great town to visit and the surrounding countryside has something for most people. We would have no hesitation in coming to this cottage for another stay.
Met by Richard who was great host, his holiday home was even better than its description and far exceeded our expectations. The large pool was an added bonus, but rather chilly after the recent spell of cool weather in this part of France. The views are fabulous.
It is well situated for visits to Cluny, Joncy, Taize, Cormatin, Brancion, but the local villages and hamlets are a delight in themselves.
Fantastic value for money, too. Well recommended.
Spent the last 2 weeks at this wonderful gite. The location is idyllic with great views in every direction. Amenities only a 30min walk or 10 min car drive away. The gite was the best equipped we have ever stayed in. It was clean and comfortable and had high quality equipment. Richard the owner was very friendly and helpful. We would love to return.
"Had a lovely week here.....very comfortable and quality accommodation, in a very beautiful and peaceful setting. Fantastic pool, and loved watching the wildlife....saw a hare in the drive! Lots to do and see, and particularly enjoyed the walks
locally....Salornay sur guy has some well marked and enjoyable country walking trails from the centre of the village. Owner Richard was very kind and considerate and gave us plenty of space. and shared his homegrown tomatoes and courgettes too! Just the week we wanted. Maggi and Colin Stewart. Cambs UK
A wonderful stay with a lovely friendly welcome. Superbly equipped kitchen and very comfortable lounge area. The bedroom was much larger than the photograph portrays. Lovely pool area just for the two of us. We would highly recommend.
The historic towns of Cluny and Taize are very close, with Macon, Beaune and Dijon within easy distance. As one of the most famous wine regions in France, Burgundy has many delightful 'wine routes' to explore. The area also offers plenty of sight seeing with numerous historical sites and famous chateaux, Cormatin being the closest. There are many glorious walks on the doorstep or you can cycle along the 74k long "Voie Verte" (Green Way) a disused railway track that passes through stunning countryside. Then come back to the cottage and relax by the pool.
