5 Bedroom Cape Cod Style Cottage With Panoramic Views Of Skeleton Lake
Located on water's edge of Muskoka's cleanest lake, this stunning cottage offers beautiful southeast to southwest panoramic views of Skeleton Lake. Perfect for families or those who want more space, this recently built cottage provides comfortable accommodation and plenty of access to your favourite outdoor summer activities.
The property includes ~300’ of shoreline and is located on the corner of a very private bay. Entry to the water is hard packed sand that extends hundreds of feet into the lake, making this a fabulous spot for families with toddlers, non-swimmers, or anyone who want to play in the water. The southwest shoreline facing the bay includes over 1,000 sqft of decking, complete with a hot tub, boathouse (with fridge), a new Weber Genesis BBQ, two modern outdoor dining table sets, and most importantly dock space and beach chairs for unrivaled sun exposure until sunset.
The southeast shoreline includes a deep-water dock with a boat lift if you choose to rent a motorboat from a Skeleton Lake marina. A few steps up from the shoreline is a natural in-ground fire pit, providing a beautiful nighttime hangout with views of the lake and starry sky.
This two-storey Cape Cod style cottage provides very spacious and comfortable accommodations for large families or groups. The main level has a full-size kitchen; living room and dining room with panoramic views of the lake; two bedrooms; 3-piece washroom and laundry room. Upstairs are three spacious bedrooms with beautiful views of the lake through the dormers, and a second washroom. The cottage comfortably sleeps up to 12 people in five bedrooms, each with beautiful lake views.
Skeleton Lake is often referred to as Muskoka's best-kept secret. Skeleton Lake is the largest open body of water in the Muskokas said to have been originally formed by a meteorite impact. This has gifted Skeleton Lake with its uniquely crystal clear waters, sandy beach coves, and wide-spanning views across the lake. The lake is spring-fed, isolated from other waterways, and guarded by the surrounding granite rocks and cliffs. As a result the lake survives in pristine condition, incredibly low pH levels, and in a class of its own in terms of cleanliness and water clarity.

Great cottage for families
We just ended a great week at this cottage. It was perfect for our families with young children. The waterfront was great for our toddlers. The water was super clear and the lake bottom was soft and sandy. There is a nice shallow little bay where the toddlers played. The dock and floating dock were fun for the older kids to play. There were water toys, two kayaks and a canoe available in the boathouse. The hot tub on the dock was great and the kids would alternate jumping into the lake and hot tub. We rented a boat from skeleton lake marina and didn't have trouble docking it at the boat dock. We had several campfires at the fire pit which the kids loved.
The cottage itself was spacious and clean. The three rooms upstairs are quite large and airy while the two downstairs rooms are smaller. The cottage is almost right on the water which gave each room great views of the lake. All in all a great cottage week for our families. Thank you Dave!!
Wonderful week in Muskoka!
Our party of 10 (4 adults and 6 children) had a wonderful time vacationing at this property! The lot is perfect for young kids as there's a lovely sandy beach entry as well as ample water toys onsite for them to enjoy. Would definitely return here again :)
We can't say enough good things about David's cottage! 10 of us stayed at David's cottage in July 2017, ranging in age from 4-77 and we all loved it. The views from the cottage are absolutely outstanding; the cottage sits up high and has long south facing lake views from virtually every room. The cottage also has western exposure, which we enjoyed while the children played in the shallow bay, ate dinner on the deck or watched the sunset. We have stayed in Muskoka a number of times, but this was our first time on Skeleton Lake and we were very impressed. The lake is quiet, very clear and the bay and shore near David's cottage is shallow, warm and sandy. The cottage itself is very well laid out and even larger, brighter and nicer than the pictures suggest. The family room/great room was large enough for all 10 of us to sit in once the sun went down. The dining room table can easily sit 10 people and all of the bedrooms are large with vaulted ceilings in each of the 3 upstairs bedrooms. The cottage was extremely clean when we arrived and very well equipped. The boathouse was also very tidy and had plenty of toys for the children (track ball, floats, tubes, noodles, life jackets) and adults (2 kayaks and a canoe) - we all enjoyed the floating dock and slide in the bay as well. There is plenty of seating on the lower deck where both the new grill and hot tub are located. David is very easy to deal with and quickly responds to all phone calls, e-mails and text messages. Thanks for sharing your beautiful cottage with us - we can't wait to come back!
Classic "Muskoka" ... Awesome time!
For our family this was the perfect venue to celebrate our 50th anniversary with the kids and grandkids. We had an awesome time! Classic “Muskoka” … rugged topography, rock outcroppings, pines, birches and a spectacular lake! Cottage is nestled directly on the shore with wide and long lake views and ability to catch a cooling breeze when windy or the quiet rhythms of water lapping on the rocks when calm. The west dock area is where we spent most of our time … extremely private with crystal clear, sandy shallow wading water; lots of decking with BBQ, 2 patio tables, multiple chairs and loungers and all-day Sun exposure. The kayaks were a great feature to explore the lake close by the cottage. We brought a boat … Skeleton Lake is picturesque with huge rock faces, islands and more! Mooring the boat can be a challenge because of the shallow and rock filled water and it does get rough. We improvised using the swim-raft for docking and mooring … we had to ferry passengers from shore using another small boat we also brought (need long mooring and spring lines, fenders). We ventured into Huntsville for the Wednesday night “Concert on the Docks” … the Northern Lights Steel Orchestra first-class entertainment followed by huge ice cream cones at Kawartha Dairies. Smokey camp fire with S’mores until we were chased in by bugs. The Beds were great. Dave was very accommodating and responsive to any issue or concern expressed.
Lovely stay on Skeleton Lake in fabulous home
Our multi-generational family enjoyed our 4 nites at this beautiful home. It was spotless, nicely appointed, spacious rooms and had an, amazing view over the lake. It was situated on a private lot with an extensive multilevel dock. My nephew learned to fish and it seems that close to shore is one of the best spots on the lake. He even caught something off the cottage dock. My dog loved scrambling over the rocks to retrieve his ball and dove in and out of the water all day. The kitchen is very well equipped. There were fans in some of the rooms so there was no need for air conditioning. The lake was a nice swimming temperature and did not have a mucky bottom. We only used the firepit one night and the mosquitos got us but that was the only time they were an annoyance. I would love to return for a girls weekend!
