This contemporary three level home was designed by a Portland architect to capitalize on the spectacular view. The spacious open floor plan, outside decks and grounds can accommodate many people comfortably. This is a perfect house for a wedding party, family reunion or retreat.
Choose to relax on the deck as you watch the birds, read a book, watch the sunset, or walk on the beach at low tide. The home is situated on the southeastern tip of Vashon Island with magnificent views of Mt Ranier and Puget Sound. The small country road deadends in a half mile at Manzanitta Beach making this location a very peaceful place.
The beach is at your doorstep. The bulkhead has a seating area, firepit and ramp to the beach. If you have a kayak, it is a perfect place to launch. The beach seems endless allowing for long walks, beach combing or bird watching with bald eagles, herons, cormorants, ospreys and many species of ducks to name a few.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped with all the things necessary to prepare your favorite meals. There are also a variety of restaurants in the town of Vashon a short 15-20 minute drive away.
The master bedroom with a king bed and bathroom are on the main level as well as another full bathroom. The kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry and two car garage are also on this level. The upper level has a spacious bedroom with a queen bed and couch that could be used for a child to sleep. A loft is also on this level with a couch. In the daylight basement, there is a bedroom with a queen bed, a full bathroom and a spacious family room with a hide-a-bed. There is also two trifold pads to sleep on as well as a blow-up mattress.
During the summer, Vashon holds several special events including the Strawberry Festival, the Lavender Festival, and weekly farmers markets to name a few. Shopping in some of Vashon's unique shops or wine tasting is also fun.
Vashon Island is a short ferry ride from the Faultneroy dock ( southwest Seattle) or Pt Defiance in northwest Tacoma.
Plan a short or long trip to Vashon Island and book our beautiful home on the beach. It is a very special place.

In 1964, my parents bought an old beach cabin and property. In 1977, my dad, a Portland architect, designed this house. It has been carefully maintained and upgraded through the years and enjoyed by our entire family. My family has enjoyed many vacations here through the years. My two sisters have enjoyed the new and old cabins for a life time as well as some of their kids and grandkids. After my father passed away last year, my mother and I decided that we wanted to do vacation rentals. This is our first summer at doing this. We have a local person on the island who will be available to take care of all the immediate needs since we live off the island. It is a wonderful place and I'm sure you will thoroughly enjoy it.
The location of this house was chosen because of the ideal location. It has gorgeous views, southern exposure, away from the traffic, and is located on the beach. It is the 'banana belt' of Vashon Island.
This unique location enables you to really experience the beauty and excitement of nature in Puget Sound. There is always some animal to observe, and the sparkling water is breathtaking.
A very nice property. Outstanding views out of extensive picture windows. Five seals playing just off shore one morning, and an evening view of Mount Rainier. Three levels give some separation. Very comfortable for 6, could have easily fit more. Parking is tight. Ferry is easy to Seattle or Tacoma, takes some thought about scheduling though.
This house is so charming, the views are truly stunning, and there is lots of great living space. The owners were really great to work with, and we had a perfect time. The only downside is that you are not close to town or the ferry. It takes about 20+ min to get there.
We just returned from our two night stay in this very very special beach home. When walking into the house and out to the deck I literally had to just catch my breath Just spectacular. The house is unique and built for the view and to accommodate multiple families if desired. The kitchen is well furnished and all the extra bedding would accommodate many more people than we had. For all the special features of the house it is the view that is so breath taking. The deck gives a view of Mt Rainier and the full beach plus over to pt Defience One can sit on the deck or take the quick path to beach and fire pit. There was a burn pan but still the bulkhead and fire pit are so relaxing and a great gathering place. One of the other great features is the access. You can drive to the house and into the garage. This is not the case with many beach places where you have to cart supplies down many steps. It was a wonderful visit and We will be booking again. Owner very helpful and responsive. Thank you Lynn
This house has AC! Such a unique and beautiful house. We slept 6 adults and two babies here, there is plenty of room for more. The beach is beautiful and it's so close to the boat launch. We will definitely be staying here agin
Our four days Lynn's Family Home went exactly as promised. The setting on South Maury Island was terrific and allowed for walks down to Manzanita Beach, kayaking off the bulkhead, and boating from Dockton Marina. We had a mix of beautiful and crummy weather, what a treat to finally see Mt. Rainier jump out on our 3rd day. The accommodations, while not a high end resort, were very nice and reflects the love and care this family has given this home for several generations.
I found it best to introduce myself to the close-in neighbors on both sides and were welcomed by them and they helped us best negotiate the tight shared parking.
Sure there were things I might have wanted differently (like being able to watch the Mariners Channel), but our whole group of parents and adult children were just so very pleased to have a comfortable and stunning setting for our 'family fest'. I found Lynn to be conscientious and responsive owner. This place is worth considering.
A nice place for friends to stay. We'll-stocked and comfortable. But only the master bedroom had a good bed. The other two mattresses are kind of old. While the bathrooms were nice and clean, the kitchen cabinets could use a good cleaning. And the furniture should be moved when vacuuming to get all crumbs and dust under the couch.
