I love San Francisco. I grew up here. I enjoy taking a bike ride or run, and eating at our great local restaurants.
Mike & Amy purchased this apartment in 2003
It is centrally located. You can walk every where, or take public transit. Our world famous cable car is just right outside of the building.
Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Financial District are all within an easy 20 minutes walk, or take the Cable Car.
A large apartment and very clean. It is very close to Chinatown and public transport. The front bedroom is very noisy and has no way of blocking the morning light so if you are a light sleeper, you will need to think twice about this apartment.
The owner is very helpful.
Staying in this apartment enabled us to feel that we were part of Nob Hill and the life in San Francisco, not just tourists. We loved the safe, quiet building and the feeling that we could see daily life outside from the bedroom bay window. The view of the Bay Bridge is awesome, the photos do not do it justice. At night, the artwork light installations on this bridge create a seemingly endless variety of patterns, it is worth spending time watching this. The location on the hill provided great exercise when the cable cars were full, and when they were not we enjoyed the trips on them to and from various locations. We also visited the Cable Car Museum just up the road, entry is free, and we would recommend this highly to anyone with an interest in engineering or historical matters. The MUNI cards were a huge bonus and we were able to travel around free using these, thanks Mike and Amy. We were able to walk to many places from Nob Hill - North Beach, downtown, the Ferry building, etc.
I would definitely stay here again. On the less positive side, the cable cars are a little noisy at night outside the bedroom but that is just life really, and we loved watching them going up and down the street from the bay window during the day.
Overall, a great experience, highly recommended.
Very clean and functional apartment with good location to get around the city. Providing public transportation passes was a great help. Would have liked to have a coffee maker, but there was local cafe about a block away. Would've also liked a second comfortable seating option besides the couch (recliner, rocking chair). But overall it is a good stay option for a week in San Francisco. To
The location of this condo could not have been better. We were next to Chinatown, all the restaurants on Hyde Street and half way between between Fisherman's Wharf and Market Street. From the bedroom window you can watch the sunrise in the morning over the mountains and at night the light show of the Oakland Bridge. The condo was very clean and had everything for your stay, much better than staying in a hotel room for the week. Mike was there to greet us when we arrived from the airport and help with our luggage. He had a map and list of restaurants he recommended, and the ones we tried were very good. The best part of the rental were the Muni passes, we were able to go anywhere in the city by bus or trolley for free. We will be looking forward to staying there again the next time we are in San Fran. Thanks Mike and Amy.
The appartment met all our wishes, it was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The view to the bridge is lovely!!
For perspective, we were traveling with two older children. The location of the property is excellent. It is on Mason St which has a cable car running, even late. I thought the soft sound of a rumbling cable car really added to the ambience as did the view which shows a portion of the Bay St Bridge. Mason St was a little 'vanilla', not crazy busy with noise (the aforementioned cable cars weren't terribly loud) and there weren't thousands of people walking by (such as on Powell St one block away). I thought Mason St was awesome for this reason. Close to the action but not too close. Getting to Powell St one block away, and you've really into Chinatown. A little farther, and you're into Little Italy (and several excellent restaurants). Chinatown/Italy were both within walking distance which, I should point out, takes into consideration San Francisco topography. In short, the hills up or down into the heart of Chinatown/Italy aren't so crazy/numerous that they can't be done unless there is physical handicap.
The property is about 30 steps from a little Chinese grocery (C &Z) which carries eggs, milk and other essentials if needed. The Cable Car Museum is a block away. The museum is neat, takes about 30 minutes, but it's on a lot of maps so it serves as an excellent reference point when you're trying to find where you're staying when looking at the sight-seeing maps.
The property is reasonably close to the Old St Mary's Cathedral (it partially survived the 1906 earthquake/fire) which has interesting photos of the cathedral after quake/fire. So if you're Catholic, the Cathedral is relatively close if going to Mass. If not, no problem, there is historic value to the building which is worth checking out. This was the first place I've ever seen services done in Cantonese, very cool!
The property is excellent. Very clean and safe, and the neighborhood was very safe. I felt comfortable walking with my 12 year old daughter around the block, watching the elderly jog or exercise in the nearest park. I didn't hear a siren the entire time we were there. The property amenities were more than adequate, and the owners were great. The property instructions were superb. I strongly recommend reading them upon arrival. Sleeping involved a regular bed with bridge view and a 'pull out' couch. Both were great. I slept in both. The pull out is heavy, needs two people. If I come back to SF, definitely want to stay here again!
