The year 1912 Victorian House apt. Is fully refurbished with all modern comforts by its Scandinavian owner and the interior has been sourced from the USA and EU. The garden vegetation is mature, rich and inspired by its Mediterranean setting on the ocean road. The house comes with private access to a small beach(stone) across the road (currently inaccessible of subsidence of the access path) and the public beaches (sand) start 300 m down the road next to kite+windsurfers paradise, idyllic harbors, the nature resort Maures, wrecks sunken next to Porquerolles for the experienced diver, golf clubs on all levels within 1hr drive and with access to private tennis courts in walking distance. It is 35 min drive from dining in St Tropez, 7 min drive to restaurants and bars in Hyeres. It is not the place for people who seek a tranquil countryside holiday, however, ideal for young couples (with or w/o children) who seek an active water sport or sun worshiper holiday on the popular and beautiful beaches of Hyeres.
We have spent three summer holidays with grandparents and children in this place and plan to come back. Having rented a variety of summer homes in France, Italy and Spain, we rarely found a house with such a tasteful setting at a comparable price.
The mixture of old architecture and new design pieces is something special and the landlady was quick to take care of any issues arising with the older items.
The next beach is just a few minutes by bike or on foot. When we did not spend our time there, the well-kept garden was a nice playground for the children. Thanks to the old trees surrounding it, the dining table just outside the kitchen is a comfortable place to be at any time of the day and long into the evening.
We just had a lovely weekend stay in Hyeres enjoying long walks on the beach and trips to Porquerolles. Easy to get around. I saw one of the previous comments, so just wanted to mention we found the property in great condition and everything was as described and in excellent order. Charming house and lush garden. Highly recommended.
We loved this place. Chic scandi minimalism but with a French twist in a gorgeous Victorian house. The apartment takes up the ground floor of this gorgeous building and has a lovely garden with shady terrace for long lazy lunches. Lovely private shared beach across the road down steep steps well worth the effort. Gorgeous restaurant towards hyeres just within walking distance. No shops nearby so if you get the late flight to hyeres make sure you bring tea and coffee and stop at a supermarket in hyeres to buy milk and wine or you are in for a hungry and thirsty night! Everything else provided including beach towels. We had the best time, visiting porquerolles and the islands and generally soaking in French life. Recommend the market in carquirannes on Thursdays (Centre ville) and the marches en puces ( flea market) on the way to giens on Sundays.
Loved our stay- we will be back (but with anti-mosquito cream next time- we are all a bit lumpy!)
Thanks so much- we loved it.
We have stayed in this house three times. It is probably the nicest house that you can rent around Hyeres and has the best interior design anywhere in this part of France... The rooms are modern, clean and supplied with everything you'll need, trust me!
Here are the strong points:
– nice garden with real grass!
– trees and shrubs make the garden feel like a mini-park
– the furnishing and decoration is very tasteful. Like a design hotel – in a good way
– romantic terrace for outdoors meals, conveniently located close to the kitchen
– dishwasher, fireplace, good coffee machine, flatscreen television, etc
– you can play tennis nearby
– nice beaches are easily reached by car or by bike
– the location within a real (upscale) neighborhood is very pleasant
– Jorgen, who is in charge is really wonderful
The place is strongly recommend for people who want to enjoy a private and joyful time with their family or friends – in a very tasteful setting.
Spent nice 2 weeks in Hyeres. A good place to explore the Cote Azure.
The Pros:The house and the garden are very nice and we had a lot of fun. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
The Cons: The private beach near the house is of no use at all, very steep iron stairs and a not cleaned gravel-beach. Theres a road next to the house with quite a bit of noise, so the garden is not very useful in daytime; the evenings are quiet.
There are millions of ants around the house, one night we were flooded with ants that came through a micro-hole in the wall. Poison is essential.
