We had been coming to Vail for over 25 years and finally decided to take the plunge and buy our own mountain getaway! Now that we have moved to Colorado we couldn't be happier with our home away from for our weekend getaways. We hope that you will enjoy your stay and return to use this as your own place to get away from it all as often as your own schedule allows.
Todd and Amber Peterson purchased this condo in 2012
We have stayed in Avon, West Vail and in East Vail and have found that East Vail was the best fit for us offering easy access to Vail mountain and the surrounding areas while providing a serene retreat at the end of a busy day. We both love to ski but are now looking forward to many summer adventures as well and are excited to find out why the locals say 'you come for the winter, but stay for the summer!' Skiing till we are exhausted and coming home to a warm hot tub and cozy fire are what we look forward to most. We hope that you will enjoy your Vail vacation as much as we do!
Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort is the only lodging in the Vail Valley that is located on over 20 spacious acres of Colorado beauty. No other resort in Vail can match an offering so unique. The Vail Racquet Club provides a newly renovated fitness center with cardio and strength equipment, numerous classes with a schedule available weekly at the front desk and a year round outdoor pool and two hot tubs. Blu's Restaurant is located at the Vail Racquet Club.
Perfect spot for a ski vacation. Cozy, comfortable, and clean.
The humidifier was great to have offsetting the dry electric heat.
Everything we needed was onsite. Perfect for a couple.
The property was great. Clean and well maintained. Nice views. Loved the location. The owners were extremely nice and responsive. I have only one suggestion. A small breakfast table would be very helpful. There's really no place to sit and work on a computer comfortably. This is probably not a problem for most people. I, unfortunately, had to bring some work with me. Other than that, the property was perfect for me and my wife. We would definitely recommend the property to friends and family. We enjoyed our stay and would love to return again sometime. Perhaps in the winter for some skiing....
My wife and I stayed two nights in June for a quick getaway. Overall the unit was as described and we enjoyed our stay; here's a few things we liked and a few to be aware of if you are looking to book a place.
1. The unit was clean, comfortable and best of all dark and quiet for sleeping. We even had a somewhat large and loud group below us, but we barely heard them.
2. Check in was quick and easy. The club has onsite staff which is reassuring if there is an issue.
3. Onsite restaurant was decent and very conveinant after the long drive
4. East Vail is quiet and peaceful, we hiked to nearby waterfalls after checking in and that was lovely. Not sure if we were on an official trail or not, but that might have made it more fun.
5. Great access to the Vail bus- we didn't use it, but it was there if you don't want to deal with parking
6. We didn't use the pool or hot tubs, but they looked nice.
7. Nice selection of movies available for guests.
The not so good:
1. Unit is right next to Gore Creek and the creek was raging with spring runoff. Cool to look at, but if we had our daughter with us, I would have been a little concerned. I bet it is real nice once the peak flows die down.
2. East Vail only had one restaurant open (on-site), so you have to drive to town for any food. There was a market down the street that sold the basics and a little more, at Vail prices of course.
3. There is some highway noise outside. Not sure if you can really escape this in Vail since the interstate is never far away, but something to consider. Couldn't really hear it inside the unit.
That's it, sorry for the list- I'm an engineer.
Condo is lovely w/ beautiful view and great location w/in the complex. Very comfortable king bed; not great sofa bed. Nice updated kitchen and bathroom, though small. Good use of space.
We took shuttle from Denver, but I recommend renting a car to get from the airport, as at the Raquetclub, you are a distance from restaurants and groceries. Shuttle bus was very convienient to take to the slopes, but took 25 min w/many stops to pick up skiers.
We never managed to get groceries during our 3 day stay, so I appreciated being able to get coffee at clubhouse in the mornings. Wished there were somewhere to get breakfast. Dinner at Blu's was very good. Ate there 2/3 nights. Stayed in Vail after skiing one day so had dinner in town. Didn't make sense to go back to change then go back again on shuttle.
Definitely leave your skis in a ski check overnight, and get a locker during the day so you can change out of your ski boots. In ski boots it is a lot of walking from condo to bus stop and then to slopes from where bus drops you. Then you can stay in town for dinner with regular shoes.
Clubhouse facilities very nice; staff friendly. Be aware they stand firm on checkout times. Had to vacate unit and transport our luggage up to clubhouse to wait for our 12:00 airport shuttle.
Overall very nice for a couple with a car. Still good without a car as long as you plan how to manage with a few obstacles. We aren't great planners while trying to be free and easy on vacation! It was generally a good experience.
Could not have asked for a better place to stay nor a more reasonable price for this condo!
thank you Todd and Amber!
my husband and I arrived to celebrate his 60th birthday on Valentine's day! we came in a rental car from the airport but once at Vail only used the car for groceries at the local Safeway or City Market (i.e. Kroger's). The Vail bus system is very convenient and the condo is very well located to catch the bus.
We had a small fire each night in the fireplace to stay warm. We loved cooking in the kitchen so much, we only ate out one evening and that was at the local Blu restaurant there at the raquet club.
The tips we have or learned for others -
1) rent a locker at the Golden Peak are and leave your boots overnight. the lockers are indoors and the boots dried just fine and were perfect the next morning. It saves you lugging them back and forth each night.
2) we splurged and ate lunch on the mountain each day. We loved eating at Wildwoods - get a baked potato and chili and split it. excellent lunch! or salad and use chili as dressing!
The condo was clean, the staff at front desk always answered our million questions (and then some!). it was very peaceful.
thanks again for making our trip so fantastic!
My husband and I stayed at Todd and Amber's lovely condo in Vail over the holiday weekend. With the wood burning stove, lovely decor, and comfortable couch and bed we felt right at home. Waking up to fifteen inches of fluffy powder made the easy walk to the bus and quick trip to the slopes an absolute bonus. I also appreciated that they included the price of the Racquet Club amenities (pool and hot tub) in their price. We hope to stay here again for our next trip to Vail. Thanks Todd and Amber!
