Glen Ellen House Rental Photos and Description

Indulge in your own private villa nestled in the heart of wine country, located perfectly on a short cut between Sonoma to Napa Valley, 2 miles from the main Sonoma road of wineries, 9 miles from Sonoma Plaza. This stylish mid-century modern home was built on a spectacular 4.5-acre setting located in the hills above the Sonoma Valley and is a Licensed Vacation Rental with the County of Sonoma. Take a dip in your private idyllic pool, styled as a lake amongst the trees. Hang out in the outdoor hot tub with views of mountains and redwoods. Spend hours playing bocce on a court next to a private vineyard. Test out that new recipe you have been dying to try in your own gourmet kitchen. Dine al fresco on your private deck, then sip cocktails on outdoor seating while the sunset casts a warm hue on your amazing view of the “Valley of the Moon.” On a cold night, cozy up by the warm fireplace. Take in a movie, or relax, on the sophisticated and modern furnishings. This property is behind a private gate in a tranquil setting that cannot be seen from the road. The home is designed to maximize outdoor living, with plenty of windows to take in the view, and doors situated to allow easy outside access from almost every room! Each bedroom has its own private exit. The home is surrounded by amenities, and tranquil settings.

While you visit, see wine country and relax. This villa is well-located and is very convenient to Sonoma and Napa valleys. The house is about two miles from the Sonoma Highway (Hwy. 12), which is not only a beautiful drive, but it is also dotted with many wineries, such as, B.R. Cohn, Valley of the Moon, St. Francis, Arrowood, Imagery, Mayo, Wellington, Kunde, Kenwood, Ledson, and many others. A short drive or taxi ride down a scenic road are the restaurants and wine tasting rooms of the towns of Glen Ellen (~2 miles), Kenwood (~5 miles) or the Sonoma Square (~9 miles). Key towns in the Napa Valley are also close by. Yountville, with the French Laundry and Bouchon restaurants, is ~11 miles away; St. Helena, with its shops and restaurants is ~14 miles away; and Highway 29, the main road through the Napa Valley is ~8 miles away.

This villa has so many amenities to entertain you, it creates a great vacation. You will be tempted to return year after year.

Why Eric chose Sonoma County

We live in San Francisco, but fell in love with wine country. After years looking, we finally found a home on our favorite road in Sonoma, between the Sonoma and Napa Valleys. We have always been fans of Mid-Century Modern Architecture. We fell in love with this home at first sight. We hope you love our home as much as we do!

What makes this house unique

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION AND AMENITIES! This home has many spaces to lounge while you are home, and puts you in the heart of where you want to be when you are out -- in the center of the wineries. There are top rated restaurants just down the hill, and the elevation provide spectacular views.

Memorable anniversary vacation

  • 5 of 5

We recently celebrated our 40th anniversary with our children and granddaughter at Eric's beautiful home. It was beyond our expectations. The house had everything we needed. Even if we didn't visit any wineries ( but we did) we would have been happy just hanging out at the pool and playing bocci ball. It was one of the most well equipped and operational kitchens we have had in a rental. The sunsets were breathtaking and the sunrises were worth getting up for. And we are already looking forward to returning next year. Thank you Eric for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Wine Country Trip

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this magnificent home for our Wine Country Trip. The views from this home are beautiful and the area is very quiet. We enjoyed the outdoor space with the pool, hot tub and boccie court. The house had everything you needed to feel like you were at home. Eric is easy to deal with and quickly responds to any of your needs. We had 6 in our party and had plenty of space for everyone to relax and have some quiet time when needed. The sunrise and sunsets are amazing and being up in the mountain you get to see the fog in the valley while you are about the fog line. The large windows and sliders in the house make it so open and airy. I would recommend staying here if you want to be close to both Napa and Sonoma as well as just relaxing for the day if you so chose. If I have the opportunity to be in this area again I would certainly stay here again. Thanks Eric for having a beautiful home to rent.

Perfect Wine Country Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 5 girlfriends could not have asked for more ideal accommodations for our recent wine country visit. This home is immaculate with plenty of space for visiting with each other while also providing for comfortable bedrooms and areas to get a few minutes away from the group. The pool and hot tub were a treat and beautifully kept. The kitchen and bathrooms were nicely stocked with the basics to . We found the drive into Sonoma/Glen Ellen (10 minutes) most convenient, but also headed to into Napa (20 minutes) very easily. The home and property are safe, secure and well lit. Eric was excellent to work with and very timely in our correspondence. I highly recommend this rental and hope to be lucky enough to stay again on our next trip to the area.

Beautiful, private and well appointed

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 enjoyed Eric's home over Thanksgiving. We were all very impressed with the comfort of this lovely, contemporary home (and surrounding property) perched on the side of the mountain. The unobstructed view of the morning sunrise (illuminating the valley) out of the HUGE front window is breathtaking! Sonoma and Napa are so beautiful in November and much quieter than in the summer. The color changes of the trees and vineyards were an unexpected bonus to our trip.

Eric's home is pristinely clean and well appointed with all the comforts of home. The beds slept well, the kitchen is fantastic, the natural light that streams in from the many windows is uplifting, the views are ridiculous and the fireplace was cozy and warm! You do not see any other properties or hear any other people, traffic or barking dogs from this property. There is a nice automatic security gate at the entrance of the long driveway. The pool is stunning and the vineyard on the property is a sweet addition. We would all recommend this property to you! I will say that the road down to the Sonoma side is only about a 5 minute drive; however, the road to the Napa side is about a 20 minute drive. This was not an issue for our family b/c we were aware of it prior to booking and we planned our morning to allow for the drive. It was a pretty drive down to the Napa Valley and it afforded us some time to discuss the daily plans and enjoy conversation (which made it seem like a quick trek). You spend your days in the valleys, so why not spend your mornings and evenings up on the mountain; it's so quiet and gorgeous up there...a perfect respite after busy fun-filled days!

I'd also like to note that Eric is an exceptional communicator and always quick to reply.

Thanks Eric!

Perfect Place to Celebrate Wine Country

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful, well-cared-for, mid-century modern home. The home does not disappoint. The location is perfect. The house is situated far enough up the hill to provide a spectacular view; yet a 10 minute ride to fabulous wine-country restaurants. The local cab company (Vern’s) provide an inexpensive van out to dinner.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about this place. The location is center to Napa, Sonoma, and the Russian River Valley. We went to all three. The house is stunning and comfortable. There is a lot of seating for everyone both inside and out. In the morning, the views are breathtaking. The town of Glen Ellen has some fabulous restaurants. I just can't say enough. When I returned home, I had to email the owner to tell him how much I loved his place. I just hope it is available when I want to return.

Map

Car: necessary

This property is located in the heart of wine country. The home is well-located for a tour of world renowned wineries -- two miles from a restaurant hot spot amidst the Sonoma wine region. It is situated on a scenic ridge between Napa and Sonoma, overlooking the Valley of the Moon (aka Sonoma Valley). Two miles down the road is the quaint village of Glen Ellen, and the Sonoma Highway. Glen Ellen is the site of multiple fine restaurants and a high-end gourmet grocery store. The Sonoma Highway is part of a 17-mile stretch of wineries. Just to the North of Glen Ellen is Kenwood, just five miles away from the property and home to the world class Kenwood Spa and additional restaurants. A 9-mile scenic drive south leads to the historic Sonoma Plaza with restaurants, wine tasting, supermarkets, etc. If you head down the mountain in the other direction, you will find yourself in the Napa Valley, starting at Oakville, with Rutherford, Yountville and St. Helena just a few miles beyond. San Francisco Airport is about 60 miles away. There are plenty of activities nearby. Hike the scenic Overlook Trail, horseback ride, or even rent kayaks.

Notes:
Private Bocce Ball Court, with outdoor dining, and with view of hobby vineyard, is located on property in the back yard. This property is a single family residence on a large wooded lot, with no guest homes. There are neighbors in the area, but trees maintain a sense of serenity and privacy. We own the property down the hill in the view areas, so no homes obstruct the view.
