Great Location on Lake Michigan

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Michigan and we loved it!! The house was exceptional. We based our decision on the photos and we were not disappointed. Every day we noticed something else in the house that impressed us. The attention to detail was clearly obvious. The rooms were lovely, the kitchen was well-equiped and the location was perfect. We were able to walk down the steps to the beach and walk along the lake for as long as we wanted. The house, itself, was equipped with supplies, soap, etc.; better some other homes we have rented through VRBO. Charlevoix is well located between Mackinaw City (and Mackinac Island) and Petoskey in one direction and Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes in the other. We thought Charlevoix and Petoskey were very nice towns to walk around. If we were to return to this area we would certainly look to rent this amazing property.

Exquisite Lake Michigan Property!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful property exceeded our expectations! Had a campfire every night, loved the kitchen, tons of room for the whole family, superb views of Lake Michigan (even had eagles paying a visit!) and an easy drive into Charlevoix, Petoskey or Harbor Springs, all with great restaurants and shops. Danielle, the property manager was a joy to work with and answered all of our questions. Also a bonus, being able to pay through PayPal!

Thank You for a lovely vacation at your place.....

  • 5 of 5

As a Michigander, I have gone "up north" for many summer vacations and experienced different places . This log home is the cutting edge! It has everything: a beautiful inside decor with all the conveniences and the natural beautiful decor outside plus the convenience of WiFi. You can spend your entire time there in this peaceful setting or it is located near the charming town of Charlevoix and close to many other areas to visit, to name a few: Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Suttons Bay, Leland, the Sand Dunes and a day trip to Mackinaw Island.

The beach area is lovely - you can swim or boat right in front of the cottage or sit on the upper deck and watch the waves or go down a few steps and walk the sandy beach looking for Petoskey stones. Even rainy days are picturesque and Lake Michigan has beautiful sunsets. This Lodge is a wonderful place to vacation for a large family or a few people.

charlevoix gem

  • 5 of 5

The house was simply perfect: the kitchen , the views, the decks, the interior. Everything met our expectations and even went beyond. Only one suggestion, make sure that all the window and door screens are fixed. Being up there with the cool lake breeze and no AC is the best!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to work with you! We will be sure to place more screens for next season. The home IS air conditioned but we agree that there is nothing like that Lake breeze, it's so nice at nights. Also, we noticed the door to the back deck's screen was stretched over the summer. We apologize for that but will rectify for the upcoming season and it will be replaced! Look forward to having you back! Thank you!

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved our vacation at this home. It is beautifully appointed; exactly as described. The location is perfect for enjoying Charlevoix and the surrounding area. It also worked well for attending a wedding at Castle Farms. Our only suggestion is to have it better stocked with liquid dish detergent, toilet paper, and paper towels. We also would have appreciated more towels so we didn't have to do laundry so frequently. Everything else was terrific and very comfortable. Danielle, the property manager, was very helpful, too!

Owner's Response: Julie - I'm so glad you and your family had such a wonderful time! It was a pleasure to work with you and plan your vacation at this property. I agree with you on the location, it's so peaceful, yet a quick trip to town. I am so sorry that you would have liked more of those items. I wish you would have called, I would have been there in a heartbeat to take care of it! The same amount is put out all summer but I understand every group of guests is different and may need more of one thing and less of another. I will be sure to talk to the cleaning crew and we can increase these items to ensure your next stay is just as awesome as this one! I look forward to working with you again soon! -Danielle-

Wonderful, private executive log home.

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazing, large executive log home located in a private setting with Lake Michigan in the back yard. We stayed for a week and took day trips to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (south-east) and to Mackinac Island, both just under two hours away. The city of Charlevoix is about twenty minutes North, but ten of those minutes are the slow-paced drive out of this lake shore drive (20 mph) and through back county roads to return to the highway.

We had a number of rainy days, which were perfect for spending the day inside this beautiful, cozy home, reading a book or taking a nap. The water level in Lake Michigan was high, such that there was no 'beach access' because the 'beach' was all under water. Not a problem though, because just two miles north of the neighborhood is a state park with beach access.

The sunsets on the lake are as wonderful as the others have described here.

The whole house audio system was great for creating a nice atmosphere. The kitchen has top-notch appliances and pots/pans/dishes/etc. It is obvious that the architect, builder and designers knew what they were doing when they created this masterpiece of a home.

The property manager was friendly and responsive. But I found that the best method of communication was via text messages, not via the web or email.

The city of Charlevoix is a nice, quaint town and fun to visit. We did eat at the Weathervane Restaurant, as others recommended and it was great (about $35/person). You can park near the restaurant, walk out to the pier and see the lighthouse that is in the typical photo of this area. The water is crystal clear.

Be sure to visit the Art Barn located on SR 31 as you head into Charlevoix. They have lots of different art pieces and it is worth visiting.

I would highly recommend this property as an excellent single (maybe extended) family getaway. There are three bedrooms (master + 2) and a central sunroom that has a couch with a hide-away bed - with little privacy. You could sleep 8 comfortably (4 beds x 2 people).

Don't forget to pack the bug spray! The owners spray for bugs and the mosquitoes weren't particularly aggressive at this property. But they were very aggressive at some of the areas that we hiked (Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes).

If you plan to do the 'dune hike' at Sleeping Bear, be sure to take sun screen and plenty of water (we did) - it is a strenuous 3 mile hike through sand and hills.

Owner's Response: It was such a pleasure to have you at the house! Thank you for the kind review. The beach is still walkable from our property for miles and miles but because of the heavy snow and vast amount of ice from this years record breaking winter, lake levels are the highest we've seen in years and some areas of the beach will require water shoes. Look forward to working with you again to plan another stay!
