Our house provides the perfect self catering accommodation, ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway to families who want an active holiday. We purchased the house in 2006 as a 'rustico' building because of its stunning location/views and renovated it to a high standard. It is situated on a hillside around 1km from the lake by road and only a short walk via the numerous paths that wind down the hillside.

Their is a double bedroom, single bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor with a fully fitted kitchen and lounge on the floor above. In addition to this, above the lounge, is a third bedroom on a mezzanine floor with two single beds. The lounge has doors that open onto a balcony and there is access to the terraced garden from the kitchen. The house is equipped to a high standard and has all mod cons such as flat screen TV, DVD, PS2, CD etc.

Also available at the house are three bikes (with a child seat), kayak, pushchair, travel cot and a large collection of books/DVD's.

We enjoyed the week staying in your comfortable house and loved the view over from the house over the lake. We enjoyed walking up Monti Grorna and Monti Di Nava (Walks 1 & 5 in the Mennagio Guide). We also walked to Dongo and got the boat back. We were luckly with the weather all week and left more tanned than when we arrived.

A comfortable house with stunning views over Lake Como.

As soon as we arrived at the house we felt at home. When we saw the views it was overwhelming! It's so peaceful and relaxing, a real getaway location.

There's so much to do and so many places to visit that we look forward to returning. We hired a boat from Dongo, visited Villa Carlotta, took the ferry to Bellagio and enjoyed Menaggio.

There are plenty of good places to eat and the food was one of the highlights of our holiday. We also ate at home for quite a few nights, the kitchen is well equipped and it was just nice to relax and not have to go out. This was a special holiday for our 30th Anniversary and it certainly felt special. We look forward to returning.

Beautiful views of Lake Como

The house was well equipped and comfortable. The balcony in the living room and the garden had beautiful views of Lake Como. We did find the road along Lake Como very busy and Como itself was so busy that the first time we went there we had to come away as there was no parking to be found. Pianello Del Lario is a very small village, the "beach" was extremely small, but we did find the beach at Dongo to be really good and only a few minutes away and a lot more in the way of facilities. The shop, sport bar and beach were reported as being 1km away, however, this was a vertical measurement and you need to be fit to do the climb up and down the mountain, especially as we had wonderful 35 C temperatures.

great location on Como

This is a great holiday home in a beautiful location overlooking Lake Como , it is clean and well equipped with modern appliances , a proper kitchen and a good supply of instant hot water for showering and washing theres even a comprehensive collection of DVDs and CDs to choose from plus a kayak and use of 3 bikes ! as a family of 4 we had a lovely week in the spectacular surroundings of Lake Como doing many of the things suggested by the owners . Neil and Tracey , the owners , were helpful and plesant to deal with and I would have no hesitation in recommending this house to any one .

A Great Holiday

I stayed here with my husband and one year old daughter in September.

We had a fabulous time, the house is very comfortable and has everything you could possible need. The decor is very tasteful, and the beds comfortable.

We also loved the location of the house, which is up on the hillside of the lake giving you spectacular views. The house really makes the most of the outlook. We were very pleased with the bikes and the inflatable kayak - but less pleased with the temperature of the lake!!

The village itself has a wonderful bakery with delicious focaccia.

I would recommend this house to anyone who likes a taste of a real Italian community with a beautiful backdrop.

A lovely holiday at Casa Verdi

This was the second time we had stayed at Casa Verdi and our fourth visit to Lake Como. The house is exactly as described, very welcoming and has everything you need for a perfect holiday. Neil and Tracy provided us with all the necessary information for the house and surrounding area and were always exceptionally helpful - even offering the use of the house free of charge when we thought we were going to be unable to fly home due to the volcanic erruption - sadly our flights went out as scheduled so we didn't get to spend a few more days there. The house is in a lovely area above Lake Como and offers spectacular views. It is in an ideal location, near to the lovely towns of Mennagio,Gravedona and Bellagio, yet far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet of rural life around Como. Como has everything you need for a perfect holiday; some spectacular walks, good birdwatching/wildlife and lovely cafes & shopping in the beautiful Mennagio/Bellagio/Varenna. A two hour drive will take you to the mountains in Switzerland - we visit Diavolezza just outside St Moritz to enjoy the mountain views. A car is essential for this type of holiday and the roads can be a challenge. My only hesitation in recommending this villa is that it may become too popular and we may find it difficult to book it again - as we hope to do year after year. Although I have recommended this for 55+, we are a group of female friends (not quite 55+) who enjoy walking, sightseeing, birdwatching, shopping, eating out etc. Como offers something for everyone. Great Location

I went to Casa Verdi along with my sister during the month of October. Just as the owners state the house has super views of the lake and is in a great location to explore the area (car required). It is very peaceful at the house, finished to a high standard and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this house to others.

Pianello Del Lario is centrally located on the west coast of Lake Como around 15 kms north of Menaggio. It is a quiet area made up of several traditional Italian villages that sit on the hillside adjacent to the lake. There is a pebble beach, served by two bars / restaurants, and an attractive lakeside footpath. The lake itself offers sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, swimming and motorboat sports. There are a number of shops, a small supermarket, several bars / restaurants, a bank and post office. There is easy access to the lake ferries and local bus service.

Within a short drive / ferry ride are the popular attractions of Menaggio, Varenna, Bellagio and Villa Carlotta. Further afield, within an easy drive, are Milan, Lake Lugano and St Moritz.

On your doorstep are the local hills / mountains which provide excellent opportunities for walking and mountain biking. In the winter skiing is available at popular resorts such as Madesimo (60km) and St Moritz (85Km).

Golf: Golf is available at Menaggio Golf Club. Enquiries would have to be made with the club house themselves for Tee times and fee's.

Ski: As a family we are keen skiers and spend a lot of time in the local mountains. Large snow sure resorts such as Madesimo, St Moritz and Aprica are within easy reach. In addition to this smaller more traditional Italian resorts are accessible. These tend to have a smaller area but are always cheaper and quieter mid-week. We can usually ski from early December through to the end of April.

  • The Master Bedroom commands beautiful views of the Lake from the Bedroom window. The furniture in this room comprises of one double wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a bedside table, half moon table and long mirror all in a typical Laura Ashley painted furniture style. High quality solid wood floors The single bedroom downstairs also has a window facing the Lake so a stunning view can be enjoyed. There is a single brass bedstead with bedside table, lamp and a double bedroom cabinet all in limed wood plus a full length pedestal mirror. High quality solid wood floors. The mezzanine floor above the lounge has two single beds, two chests of draws and bedside lights. This space is quite large, around 15 sq mts in size, has a roof window. It is ideal for adults and children alike. The two seater sofa bed settee in the lounge is available for use if required.

Notes:
This is our holiday home and as such it is equipped with items that might not ordinarily be found at a holiday rental property, ie bikes, books, DVD's, kayak, pushchair, childs bike seat, snow chains, etc. You are more than welcome to use these items but we would ask that you take care of them and replace anything if any damage occurs. The house is accessed via a flight of steps into the first floor kitchen (approx 20 steps). The house was planned in this way so every advantage could be taken of the spectacular views.This should be noted if mobility is an issue. Although the house is on a hillside this should not cause a problem as a car is is considered necessary. Pianello is at an advantage to other lakeside villages because the main lakeside road bypasses the town through a tunnel, thus keeping traffic to a minimum. Access to the main road is very easy. Larger shopping facilities can be found as you travel north and south along the lake, particularly at Colico.
