About the property

Guest House, 1 Bedroom; 1 Bath & day bed for 3 person. All amenities!

Permit #: 17-0043552

Casita de la Paz (the Peaceful Place) is nestled among the pinon trees in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. This superb location provides both the serenity of a mountain retreat AND immediate access to downtown. It is one the closest homes you can get to the Santa Fe Ski basin - a 12 mile drive up through the Santa Fe National Forest.

Casita de la Paz is a guest home in an exclusive gated community and only an approximate 5 minute drive through lovely native landscape between Casita de la Paz and downtown Santa Fe (The Plaza area).

This 850 square ft. casita is a 1 bedroom/1 bath home. The bedroom offers a King bed. The bath is slate-tiled. Large windows with views of land and sky create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. The open, light-filled great room has a Jenn-Air style kitchen and a dining area opening to a view of sunsets through junipers. From the great room, step out back onto a private outdoor deck with table, chairs and a grill—still embraced within this natural Southwest scape.

There is an additional 5-foot-seven-inch daybed in the living area. Other amenities include high-speed wireless access, Cable TV, A/C, and a washer/dryer.

Casita de la Paz is The Gateway to the best that Santa Fe has to offer. It's close proximity to the Santa Fe National Forest trail heads, the world-famous Ten Thousand Waves Japanese Spa, and the Santa Fe Ski basin will appeal to nature lovers and hikers. When you stay here you can easily enjoy the pleasures of both! The casita is actually only a 15 minute walk (1 mile drive) to the trail head of the Dale Ball hiking trails. These trails provide access to the network of trails throughout the Santa Fe National Forest.

Guestbook comments from the manager

I want to spend a few of my last minutes here at the Casita thanking you for all of your help in advance of my trip and your gracious flexbility when I arrived.

The Casita has been a sanctuary -- a place of gentle lighting, fluid design, and rich art and reads within. Nooks inside and out that allowed me to wander, sit, and get lost in books or thought. A warm rock, the hammock, the reading nook, the bedroom .... lovely.

Peace and easy, endless goodness...may they always be your companions.

Casita de la Paz

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely 5 day stay with our little dog at the Casita. The location was perfect as we were close to the square, close to 10,000 Waves but felt like we were hidden away in the mountains. Very secluded and private. The casita was very clean and well appointed and comfortable. The patio was great and let you experience the sounds and smell of Santa Fe. The only thing I would change is to replace the grill on the deck. Other than that, it was perfect.

Beautiful, Quiet Spot Close to Everything

  • 4 of 5

Spent 5 days in Santa Fe recently with the goal of spending lots of time in nature but still stealing into town for art and food. This location was perfect. Close to Dale Ball Trails and lots of other natural spaces bit still only a 10 minute easy drive to Canyon Road and Cerrillos for art galleries and great food. The space was a great size and well appointed for 2 people with enough space to stretch out. Great art on all the walls. Comfy bedding. Really convenient kitchen and laundry.

Beautiful and quiet

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here. It was very quiet and peaceful. The kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed being able to hike close by with our dog and be close to skiing, biking trails and town. We hope to stay here again on our next visit to SF.

Thanksgiving in Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

Richard as a host was extremely professional! He welcomed us into his guest home providing a wonderful place to relax in! The property is exactly as described and pictured. It is fully self-contained and has a fully stocked kitchen in order to prepare meals without wishing you had an extra utensil. The bed was comfy, the shower great, and furnishings in nice condition. It's more of a contemporary style which suited us well. On more than one occasion we spied deer picking into the windows! That was a cool surprise in itself. The home is positioned in a nice gated community secluded enough but 5 minutes from town and less to numerous hiking trails, 10000 Waves and the Santa Fe Ski Slope just a few miles away. We just loved it and would be so nice ready to come back at the first opportunity!!

Just wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We stayed the week of sept 10-17th. The house is beautifully designed. It is like stepping into an art gallery. We cooked dinner almost every night and there was high end cook wear. I am so glad we chose to stay in the mountains and visit the tourist areas during the day. The house is close to everything, but you have a feeling of being away from it all. I know it would not be as esthetically pleasing, but I do wish there was a television in the bedroom. After wandering around for the day a cozy nest would be great...even though...it wouldn't be as beautiful.

Peaceful location near town and hiking trails

  • 4 of 5

Casita de la Paz was a very nice place to stay. I received good directions to find the place and get there. It's clean and modern, yet is set in the mountains like a cozy cabin. Even though it only sleeps two, it feels very spacious with plenty of room. (A third person would have to sleep on the futon or couch in living room.) Furnishings were all nice and updated; the kitchen is very well-stocked with pots, pans and utensils. The location was perfect for me -- 2 min drive to Ten Thousand Waves Spa; 5-7 min drive to the Plaza; and, very close to a number of hiking/biking trails just down the road. You definitely need a car to get around. The few things giving this a 4 rating instead of a 5 were: 1) no window treatments on the bedroom windows made it a little creepy for a female by herself; 2) the bathroom doesn't have counter space to put in eye contacts, etc. where you need a sink and mirror; 3) no dishwasher. These were minor details (except the window treatments) that certainly didn't impact my stay in a negative way. I would stay at Casita de la Paz again.
