This charming c 1803 home was restored and updated for our own family's vacation use. Originally owned by William Thompson of Thompsonburg.
Although the photos genuinely represent this home, they don't capture the peace and tranquility one experiences once in the home. It has a way of simultaneously feeling roomy and cozy~and despite the beautiful dining room, we found ourselves eating almost every meal in the kitchen with the small fireplace and drinking our coffee in the comfortable chairs. While on vacation, we typically look forward to wood-burning fireplaces, however, aside from in the kitchen, we found ourselves enjoying the sheer convenience of the gas fireplace in the family room. I could have spent every morning soaking in the antique claw-foot tub with the spa like hot water~ but then we would have missed walking around the property, shopping and just enjoying how beautiful Vermont is. The only additional amenity that we could have asked for is a small cable upgrade to access some of the networks with movies. Since my husband and I both work Monday through Saturday, we really look forward to relaxing with a movie or two while away on vacation. With that said, we would still be excited to stay again and recommend without reservation.
We had a wonderful stay! House was clean and adorable! Our dogs absolutely loved the yard and wandering through the garden paths. The house is set close to the road compared to the pictures, but the side yard is so large that there was no fear of the dogs going near the road. We plan to come back in the future.
We recently stayed at this property for an extended weekend getaway. It is a lovely historic home with beautiful grounds and nice privacy. It is well situated within minutes of the local grocery store (Clarks IGA) and the charming town center with other dining options. The house is very spacious with a master BR on the first floor and other bedroom upstairs. The kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs and had all the modern amenities. The highlight for us was the screened in porch area where we could relax and dine to our heart's content. We loved the general area for exploring especially with Lowell Lake basically next door. The flowers in the property were beautiful and we enjoyed walking around the yard with our dogs. The owners have done a nice job decorating to keep the integrity of this 1803 home. Also the owner Nancy was a pleasure to work with. It was so hard to leave this amazing place. We can't wait to come back again!
My husband and I greatly enjoyed our week's stay at this beautiful spacious home. in the dining room, living room, and screened in porch, we could pretend that we were citizens of Vermont shortly after the American Revolution-enjoying fabulous views of flowers and lawns. In the family room, kitchen and bathroms we enjoyed all the beneits of reently updated features and 21st century technology. Nancy and Tom, the owners, gave us great tips on surrounding attractions, from restaurants, to the farmer's market, to a great hiking trail with breathtaking views. We enjoyed a side trip (15 minutes) to the Weston Priory and the Vermont Country Store. We highly recommend this home to one and all!
This nineteenth century farmhouse sits on a very large and beautiful property. We had a fantastic week with our family of four. Our children loved running around the grounds and sitting in the hammock. We ate meals in the beautiful dining room or the lovely screened in porch. The family room has great games, a large TV and a foos ball table that kept us entertained on rainy days. We drove to the Londonderry farmer's market and a wonderful restaurant called SoLo Farm and Table, both of which are very close by. We've been vacationing in Vermont for 10 years and this is by far the nicest place we have stayed in. We highly recommend it!
Years ago we admired this house when we bicycled past it. The large boulders in the yard attracted our attention. We were pleased to find this house we knew was available.
Our younger granddaughter accompanied us for this visit. She was enthralled with the floors and the furnishings. This is a great place to visit and would be a wonderful place to live.
We found everything we wanted or needed in the kitchen so that we could prepare meals for the three of us.
We hope to return here again some summer.
