About Marguerite Tremelin

We live in NE Ohio but have been visiting the beautiful island of Boca Grande since 1986. Many vacations with our two children, and a few parents-only trips, kept us coming back to the island again and again. Lighthouse is everything we dreamed about in a beach home: right on a gorgeous, quiet beach; walking distance to town; enough bedrooms for friends and family; cozy and comfortable. We love it and know you will, too.

Marguerite Tremelin purchased this townhome in 2010

Why Marguerite Tremelin chose Florida South Central Gulf Coast

We always dreamed of having a home here on the island, so Lighthouse #15 is truly a dream come true for us. We live on the island from October to May and have our beach home decorated and outfitted for our own pleasure. Everything about it is much nicer than a typical rental property. Look at the pictures and notice the paneled ceilings, gourmet kitchen, beautiful decor, original art and high-end furniture. Our rates are right in line or lower than other rentals, some with just two bedrooms. Compare and see. I know you will love our home here.

What makes this townhome unique

Walk barefoot from front door to the beach, thanks to decking added on ground level.

Exceptional Property. Wonderful Family Get Away!

  • 5 of 5

You know that excited feeling you get when you first arrive at your vacation destination? You run up to the door to see what you have booked and hope for the best? Well...THIS WAS THE BEST! We were so thrilled with our choice! The lighthouse #15 was absolutely perfect. We did not want to leave. The owner was sweet sweet and accommodating with our special requests and I cannot say enough about the cleanliness, uniqueness and fun we had on this vacation.

The beach is a private beach so it's quiet, with plenty of room to stake your umbrella and safe enough to leave it up all day if you need an air conditioned nap indoors. In just the one week we were there, the neighbors made us feel like we were at home. We met so many wonderful people. I have to say the outdoor shower was a huge hit with our family. It has both hot and cold water and it felt amazing coming off the beach. The first morning we were there I was having coffee on the enclosed porch as I watched dolphins play on the shoreline.Seriously? It was heavenly :) My kids spotted several manatees meandering their way along the shore the next day. We spent most of our time on the lower level as the breeze coming off the gulf was incredible. We snorkeled right off the beach in the crystal clear blue-green water of the gulf and found live conch, a sand dollar, and a crab :) I cannot thank you enough for sharing your home with us. One week was not enough.... we are already planning our stay for next year and we have all decided we need 2 weeks:) - that includes my 19 & 20 year old sons-...(YES...they want to come back with us!)

A few island tips:

1. You are just a few blocks from downtown but it was hot...even in May! Reserve a golf cart early because they book up quickly.

2. Get gas before you get onto island as there is no gas station.

3. Get Groceries... the Publix in Cape Haze is the closest and just over the bridge. Hudsons is the only grocery store on island and they are closed on Sunday.

4. Try out "Sisters Restaurant" for the best Italian food we have had in a long time!

5. Bring bug spray and after bite. It's an island so the no-see-ums come out as soon as the sun sets!

6. Don't forget your camera! You are going to want to remember this!

Thank You Thank You for a wonderful Family Vacation!

Family Beach Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful time staying at the Lighthouse. There was plenty of room for the 6 of us with 3 levels to enjoy. We took advantage of the kitchen for most meals and visited town by renting a golf cart. The long stretch of white sand beach was right out front. The ocean was wavy a few days but mostly calm and clear. The outdoor shower was great and helpful to keep down the amount of sand in the house. I would recommend this property to family, friends, and will return soon.

This a wonderful unit! Updated and beautifully decorated. Everything you need for your stay is provided. The unit perfectly located and within walking distance to the Village. The sunsets are the most beautiful you will ever see and the beach is pristine.

Beautiful Home, Beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

Lighthouse Unit 15 was perfect for our family of 6. Usually when we stay at a VRBO property we wind up spending a lot of extra money on things like laundry detergent and coffee filters. Not here. The kitchen had all the basics and some very nice extras. I was able to even bake a birthday cake without having to improvise on equipment. On top of that, the place has a closet full of beach stuff for the kids. The beds were beautiful as were the rooms. You can tell when a home is well cared for and this one definitely is. With the beach only a few steps away and a view of it from the screened porch and the kitchen the kids were able to have a bit of freedom. During our stay we couldn't figure out how to make the speakers work...after just one email to Gulf to Bay Sotheby's, the directions were sent to us and we were able to listen to our music. Boca Grande in July is sleepy and just what we were seeking. The local hardware store Barnichols, and the local grocery, Hudsons have friendly staff. We recommend Tarpon fishing on The Blaze, renting a golf cart and dining at Sisters and at South Beach Grill. We are already talking about a repeat visit to the SAME property next year....as we need to finish the sand castle we started.

Prohofsky

We are a family of four, including an 18 year old daughter and 15 year old son. Our daughter chose this VRBO as her graduation gift. This was the most relaxing vacation we have EVER been on. We had a blissful week of R & R. The weather was great the first few days, more rainy the last part of the week, but we still had a great time. We read, watched movies and played games during the rainy times. Tons of privacy on the beach for sunrise and sunset. Chairs, umbrellas, etc. were easily accessible. Fully stocked kitchen, towels, etc. We stocked up on groceries and cooked most meals. The only surprise was the fee to enter the Island ($6.00), but it was worth it for all of the privacy on the beach. Florida is becoming our favorite state. This was our first VRBO, but hope to use VRBOs for most of our future travel plans.

Another day in Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in Boca Grande at the Lighthouse apartment. The duplex was beautiful, lots of room, well equipped kitchen, but our favorite was the outdoor shower with hot water. The view of the ocean was outstanding. We loved riding our bikes on the bike paths, out of the way of traffic, swimming, shelling, and observing turtle nests. Since we were there in August, we had most of the beach to ourselves which was peaceful and romantic. Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise with us.

Map

Our address is 29O Gulf Blvd., #15. The GPS locator seems to site our place too far north on a street map. Instead, look at a map and find the intersection of Pilot Street and Gulf Blvd. Our place is DIRECTLY across Gulf Blvd. from Pilot Street, right on the Gulf of Mexico.
