About julie Sheridan

We are both professionals spanning finance and IT and know the ins and outs of traveling. We acquired our cottage a number of years ago so we could spend time with friends and family when we visited the State of MI. We are a family of six, 4 of us have four paws and we travel often with our 'kids'. Our dogs are our family. We wanted to share our cottage and beautiful location with others so they could create cherished memories as we have done through the years.

julie Sheridan purchased this cottage in 2005

So nice

This was our second year staying here, we love it. The cottage is so nice and cozy, very relaxing, our dog also loved it, we did a lot of walking . even on rainy days we had a good time just sitting on the back porch reading.

Could not have been better!

  • 5 of 5

Could not have asked for a better location! Just a block from the bike trail and a short distance from town. Private, no traffic, and right on the water! Launched kayaks in front and lots of parking for boat trailer, etc.. Did not need A/C or furnace while we were there. Loved the museums and local history. Tawas State Park was great! Great places to eat. Home was very well equipment. Friendly neighbors. WIFI was great, too. VERY clean with great cooking utensils! All on one floor. Do not think twice about renting this one! Washer/Dryer, stove and frig looked almost new. Not a lot of beach to walk on because of the unusually high lake level this year, but there are a couple of great, free beaches just a 5 minute drive away.

Everything you could want and more!

  • 5 of 5

We were thrilled with the cottage and all it had to offer. Having owned a log home just down the street, we knew that the area was wonderful. This was the first time we had rented and were very happy. The cottage was spotless! It had everything we needed and more. It was great to have WiFi and TV for those times when we just needed to relax. The kitchen was perfect and had everything we needed. So much better then staying in a hotel. The water level was up this year so there wan not much of a beach. It would have been nice to have more sand and area for our grandson to play. The only suggestion I could make is to have a mirror in each of the bedrooms. That would help free up the bathroom when getting ready. We would love to rent it again!

We loved the cabin. It is very pretty, well furnished, and comfortable. We had a handicapped elderly Aunt with us who delighted in sitting on the back porch watching the animals and the water.

The back porch was a perfect viewing place for the evening "geese parade" as the goose families with babies walked up and down the shore.

Will come back again if we can.

good place to unwind

  • 4 of 5

This cottage was pretty much as described. It provided a relaxing environment especially with Lake Huron's waves rolling in only a few yards away. Not a sandy beach but still nice and the public beach was only a ten minute drive while the state park wasn't more than a half an hour and there was a doggie beach there. The sunrises were gorgeous and watching the different skies was educational. We picked up rocks (including petoskys), watched sailboats, ducks and geese(one family had 11 babies!). I was kinda annoyed when lawn maintenance arrived shortly before 8am on tuesday just has we were on our way out with dog & coffee in hand to sit and enjoy the simple joys of the morning. We wondered why this couldn't have been done between renters since there had been good weather but a couple hours later he was gone and i had to be reminded that not everyone was on vacation. The screen porch provided a good spot to still enjoy the lake but be out of the direct sun or wind whichever was the case. Beautiful area. Thank you for sharing.

I appreciate you letting me know and will call to ensure our future guest's morning is not interrupted. Many thanks and hope you will return next year. Kindest Regards, Julie

Ultimate in Relaxation and Comfort

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home is nestled in a real neighborhood with what appeared to be no other rental cottages and wonderful neighbors. What a treat! Over the period of 10 days I was joined by family and friends. We all became enthralled with our stay. My friends, who also own some VRBO cottages in another city, absolutely loved the house and furnishings. We all had such a wonderful time enjoying the screened in porches (front and back), swing overlooking the lake, expansive yard for playing yard games or just relaxing. Even on bad weather days, we were so comfortable within the house. The dominoes game, Mexican Train, rules in this house!! The walls are probably still echoing the laughter around the dining table. Lovely sandy beaches in this bay invite you to take long walks. The privacy of this neighborhood invites you to bring a bike and go for long bike rides on the road or join up with the 10 miles of bike trails which wind through Tawas along the shoreline. We brought binoculars and were able to watch the freighters go by as well as some interesting sailboats. I woke up one morning to a young eagle landing on the lawn. It turned out to be one mature adult with 3 youngsters about 1-2 years old hunting for fish right off the beach. What an amazing experience. I can't say enough good things about this cottage as well as the Tawas area. Lastly, my dog is still searching for that daybed on the front porch where he would lay for hours in the sun while watching for rabbits, chipmunks and anything else that happened by. I now understand why Julie gets repeat renters every year!
