A warm welcome awaited again at Castaways. Fresh flowers, delicious cake, lovely eggs and tea things ready to go. Beautifully clean and homely, everything you need. An enclosed garden ideal for our four legged friend. Our fourth visit and not our last. The peace and quiet is just perfect for rest and relaxation. We recommend to friends who have already been to visit us during our stays. Newborough Forest and Beach is on the doorstep, the island has so many beautiful spots to visit. Cemlyn Bay RSPB Nature Reserve is stunning, a new find for us. Lligwy Beach, Moelfre, Maltreath, Aberffraw, the list is endless. There are plenty of places to eat out if you wish within easy reach. Thank you to Clare and Jennie for another wonderful stay.

Ideally located traditional country cottage, in beautiful and peaceful surroundings, short driving distance to local amenities.

The cottage was clean, well maintained, fully furnished with facilities to meet all needs.

First class communication from owner, providing details and directions prior to our stay.

Definitely recommend whether for short and long will love it!

An unspoiled idyll

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is a total gem, and the owners could not have been more welcoming. Just so very, very nice to arrive and be able to sit and relax straight away with a plate of home made cakes and a pot of tea ...

So good not to have to rush out for that forgotten item for everything we could need was there, and the sofas were comfy, the armchair was a readers delight and the bed was just right ...

We walked in the surrounding countryside admiring our wild companions from pheasant to red kites, we drove to wild beaches with not a soul other than ourselves in sight, we cooked home grown food from the farms nearby, we talked by the fire and listened to the owls ... and we came home rested and refreshed

Wonderful week

  • 5 of 5

This summer we had a wonderful week in Penrhyn Mawr cottage. The cottage was very clean and tidy and really felt like a home from home.

We enjoyed the sunshine in the garden or visited towns, castles or beaches nearby. We especially liked Beaumaris and Penrhyn Castle.

The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Perfect Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

This was a delightful cottage will everything of a very high spec. It was so isolated and quiet that we ended our week's holiday feeling like we had been there for much longer. The rest was fantastic. You do need a car though as it is very much out on its own in the countryside surrounded by nothing but cows, rabbits and grouse! The owners were extremely welcoming and had left cake and tea ready for us on our arrival. A homely touch which was very much appreciated. We would recommend this property to anyone wishing to enjoy a quiet and peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

An absolute gem. POWNALL FAMILY

  • 5 of 5

If you’re looking for a remote cosy farm cottage to relax in which is fully equipped then look no further? The Castaways has all you want and more. The location is perfect for those looking to escape the rat race and enjoy the tranquillity of the Welsh countryside. If it’s high tech modern living you desire you’re on the wrong web site. There's no Broadband, WiFi, HiFi, Massive flat screen TV, Surround Sound, Xbox, Wii, Facebook Blah,Blah!........It's good old fashioned honest living with fresh air and stunning views. It's heavenly! (There is limited mobile phone coverage in case of emergency though)

As a family of four with a dog to accommodate we required something special for our Christmas and New Year holiday, and boy did we find it. So much so we’ve already booked for next year. We arrived in the dark with three inches of snow on the ground and were given a warm and friendly welcome by the owners Clare and Rai. We entered the farm cottage to be greeted with the smells of festive cheer from the seasonal flower display to the simmering mulled wine and mince pies……nice touch. The cottage oozes character with its rustic beams, uneven floors and duck down door ways. The sign above the door reads ‘mind your head’ but it’s your heart you need to mind as the Castaways will whisk it away! We awoke in the morning to a winter wonderland and views over the Snowdonian mountain range and Menai Straits you would have drove a 1000 miles for. The cottage is situated on the Marquess of Anglesey’s private estate, off the beaten track but close enough to discover castles and picturesque beaches, but if you’re looking for a holiday on Mon you know all about its hidden wonder.

The cottage itself has 3 bedrooms, 2 double and a twin room. There’s a modern family bathroom, small cosy lounge (seating for 4 which is why it’s advertised as a 2 bed room only) and an open plan kitchen diner with a table to comfortably seat 6 which we did for Christmas dinner (parents came). The kitchen has an airy feel with everything and more you require, we can honestly say there is nothing you will need to bring with you, everything is there. The lounge has a living flame gas fire which looks as good as an open fire but without the hassle and the new central heating system was excellent. This was a real home from home for us and we hope to return time and time again. We have stayed in many places through out Anglesey and North Wales and this was the best by far. What an absolute gem. l
