About Nathan Libri & Gaia Biggi

Hello there,

We are Nathan Libri and Gaia Biggi, the owners of Castagnatello Estate.

We live between Italy and the UK, were we both worked as scientist for about 10 years.

When our first son Alex was born we decided to settle in Tuscany... no regrets so far!

Nathan Libri & Gaia Biggi purchased this villa in 2009

Why Nathan Libri & Gaia Biggi chose Monte Amiata

Castagnatello was carefully restored by Hilary and Giorgio, Gaia's parents.

The Estate is now Gaia's and we have been managing it since its opening in 2009.

Castagnatello is an elegant example of a Tuscan Estate at its best, the area is really beautiful, far from the tourist crowd and deserved to be discovered.

What makes this villa unique

Castagnatello is a beautiful stone made estate. Incredible is are also the countryside views: really stunning!

The location is also great: we are between the Val d'Orcia (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Amiata mountain.

The countryside between the Amiata and the Val d'Orcia is undoubtedly one of the nicest in Tuscany. In particular the panoramic views we have from Castagnatello are truly stunning!

A fantastic property in a stunning setting.

  • 5 of 5

My daughters and I spent a fantastic week in the Noce cottage. The property was of a very high standard, with great kitchen facilities and a balcony overlooking the valley below.

The pool was also of a high standard, in a lovely garden setting and also with great views over the valley.

Our hosts Nathan and Gaia were very helpful and friendly, full of useful local information.

There was plenty to see in the local area, but we also managed day trips to Siena, Florence and Castiglione della Pescaia.

The Perfect Place for a Holiday in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

We spent a fantastic week at the Castagnatello country house. The apartment was lovely and we particularly enjoyed eating on the veranda outside with beautiful views of Seggiano and Monte Amiata.

We had some regenerating days at the pool - which is spacious, clean and offers a stunning panorama as well.

Castagnatello is also perfeclty located to visit all the Val D'Orcia historic towns: we especially loved Pienza and its famous cheeses!

I would definetly recommend Castagnatello for a relaxing holiday in Tuscany.

OUR LOCATION:

Castagnatello is wonderfully located between the luscious Amiata Mountain and the enchanting Val d'Orcia.

Val d'Orcia is renowned for its traditions, gastronomy and fine wines. Every historical town has something beautiful to discover:

you will enjoy exploring villages like the romantic Pienza, renowned for its cheeses, Bagno Vignoni known for its Roman Spa, the medieval towns of Montalcino and Montepulciano where hidden cellars in narrow streets offer superb wine tastings, and Rocca d'Orcia with its imposing ancient Castle still dominating the valley.

Tuscany and the Val d'Orcia are celebrated for their fine wines. Some of the best wines produced in our area include: Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano and Montecucco (...our friendly neighbour is a known wine producer of the Montecucco Wine!).

Visits and tastings to wine producer estates and cellars can be easily organised.

If you are looking for nature and sport activities, the nearby Monte Amiata is a wildlife rich natural park with several hiking trails, a go ape rope-park, bicycle trails and BBQ areas.
