About Michael Johns

I live in Alabama, but North Carolina is my second home. I began vacationing to the area about 10 years ago while in college at Auburn University. Hiking, snow tubing, and escaping the hot humid summers down south were just a few reasons to start. As the years went by I became more knowledgeable about the area and shared the knowledge with family and friends. My family and I have been blessed with many wonderful memories in the mountains of North Carolina. We hope to have many more to come.

Michael Johns purchased this cabin in 2016

Why Michael Johns chose Asheville Area

I decided to buy this property because of the outstanding mountain views, beautiful cabin, and central location to many area attractions. No matter what time of day or season the view is always spectacular. One step inside the great room and I knew this was my dream cabin. All the beautiful interior wood from floor to wall to ceiling is very impressive. Also, the property consists of over 2 acres at the top of a mountain ridge. The property offers an abundance of privacy and is only a short few minutes to downtown Marion. (Just 10 minutes)

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is spacious, but cozy. It is decorated with casual elegance and the furniture has been chosen with comfort in mind. The cabin features three floors. There is one bedroom on each floor for maximum privacy. It is not only close to Marion, but to many other attractions like Pisgah National Forest, Lake Lure, Lake James, Mount Mitchell, Blue Ridge Parkway, local wineries and vineyards, waterfalls, tubing, kayaking, swimming, Chimney Rock, Biltmore Estate, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, Boone, Blowing Rock, and more.

Picturesque Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Had an amazing family wedding weekend at the Appalachian Dream. The cabin was spotless and beautiful, and the mountain views were absolutely stunning. Michael was so kind to leave coffee and a fruit basket, along with a welcome packet that helped you find any information you could need. Would love to stay again one day in the future.

Amazing cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We were so sad to leave this little slice of heaven. It's large enough for plenty of people to stay comfortably, but also very quant and cozy. I wish we could've stayed a little longer. Great owner as well! Fast response time and very accommodating. Thank you for a great stay!

Still worth the drive!

  • 5 of 5

My original dates were in March, however, the owner advised me of the icy weather coming that weekend and allowed me to reschedule for April.

My family & I stayed here in March 2016 and were so impressed with the property and experience that we decided to come back this year. Even though it rained the whole time we were there, we still enjoyed our vacation.

I would have loved to use the outdoor grill and fire pit, instead, we used the modern amenities inside the cabin to watch movies, surf the internet and play good old fashioned board games. The owner has all the bases covered! We were able to cook any meal we wanted in the fully furnished kitchen and we were only 45 minutes to an hour away from shopping and small town shops.

The cabin was clean, well organized, spacious and charming. I am certain that I will return again as I know I won't be disappointed!

Amazing vacation at this lovely cabin!

  • 5 of 5

There was 8 of us staying in this cabin and we never once felt crowded. All 4 teenagers had plenty of room downstairs enjoying the big screen TV and plenty of outlets to charge their cell phones! The adults enjoyed time around the fireplace in the great room. We all gathered every evening for a roaring fire in the outdoor pit making s'mores and laughing. The kitchen had EVERYTHING we needed to make all of our meals. The driveway is steep but it did offer entertainment everytime we went out for the day and came back to the cabin. Our driver was a pro by the end of the week. We had 8 people in a packed van and had no issues getting up or down the driveway. A few of us walked it a couple of times to burn off all the s'mores we ate! I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about this cabin. We have been in other cabins in the Carolinas and this is definately our favorite. Michael thought of everything and even gave us tons of information on nearby things to do to get our teenagers away from thier phones. :) Thank you for opening up your home to us. We had a wonderful time and now have many memories to cherish!
