Overview

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This treasure is unmatched for a traditional retreat to the beach. A mile south of downtown Cannon Beach and less than a city block’s walk to the sand, you can enjoy easy access to whatever your heart desires.

The Horner Beach House was built in 1928 to take advantage of the best view of Haystack Rock and the Needles. One of the original homes on the hill, the view includes an expansive panorama of the ocean as well as easy access to the beach. The house has just undergone an extensive remodel, preserving the beach cottage ambiance while ensuring that modern amenities make your experience comfortable.

There are several nesting pairs of bald eagles living in the hills behind the beach house. They fly directly overhead on their way to hunt on Haystack Rock. A fantastic spectacle! Haystack Rock is the best place on the coast to see Tufted Puffins from April to August. The Rock also hosts breeding Western Gull, Pelagic Cormorant, Pigeon Guillemot and Black Oystercatcher, Halequin Duck, Brown Pelican, and Peregrine Falcon seen in summer and Greater Scaup and Surf Scoter in Winter.

About Peggy Amato

When we were kids we used to go to Cannon Beach because our neighbors had a house there. Relatives from North Dakota were treated with trips to the beach whenever they visited. After the death of our father, our mom bought this house in 1974 looking forward to spending her retirement at the beach she so loved. It was a favorite spot for family and friends alike.

Mom wanted to share this beautiful spot with friends and began renting. We are happy to continue making the house available for others to enjoy.

Peggy Amato purchased this cottage in 1974

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this cozy cottage. The views & location of this house we're even more impressive upon arrival. The house is really just steps from the beach! The heating instructions were very confusing but everything else about the house was great. I wouldn't recommend an elderly person stay in the upstairs bedroom due to the narrow steps & low ceiling leading up to it but there is a main level bedroom. I'm so glad there are owners out there that open up these amazing homes to travelers. I never thought I'd get to treat my parents staying in a million dollar beach house with spectacular views!

As advertised this is an amazing view and an amazing time! Perfect location for Haystack and The Needles. Wonderful restoration of this historic residence. Thoughtful décor and accommodation. Every need has been anticipated. Relaxed and private atmosphere. The beach and the town of Cannon Beach is quintessential Oregon Coast. A truly amazing gem not to be missed

This has been my best experience in a vacation home. I can't recommend it enough. The views are gorgeous, the location is amazing and the home is so comfortable. I cannot wait to come back again.

Exactly as advertised - cozy, great view, VERY nicely kitted-out

We usually visit Cannon Beach twice a year, including Spring Break when it rains most days. Finally, we've found a lovely, comfortable place with views so good that it doesn't matter if the weather keeps you indoors. But still an easy walk to the beach. The kitchen is extremely well stocked; you could cook Thanksgiving dinner here! The recent improvements show first-rate craftsmanship. All-in-all a very pleasing place to relax with a book, play a game, nap, or just while away the hours watching the waves crash endlessly onto the rocks and shore. And we appreciated the general lack of beach cabin kitsch. It's tasteful and simple. She's a keeper!!

AWESOME Beach Cottage!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a perfect beach cottage with amazing views of Haystack Rock and the Needles. The house is perfectly located; close to beach public access and close to town. The house is well stocked with pots/pans/glasses/dishes and spices!! We enjoyed the comfy beds and the deck outside was a perfect place to enjoy a glass (or 2) of wine! We had a great time in Cannon Beach and LOVE Villa Horner. We hope to come back soon!!
