About Anna or Chuck

My wife & I met and married in Mill Valley 40 years ago. She owned the downtown flower stand for many years. There will be fresh flowers when you arrive & probably some fresh berries when we make or weekly trip to the local Farmers Market.

We know & love Marin County and want to make your stay a memory to last a lifetime

Anna or Chuck purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Anna or Chuck chose The Bay Area

This apartment directly adjoins a wonderful hiking trail on the lower slopes of Mt. Tamalpais. Our son gives bike tours of Sausalito or San Francisco and we can arrange a mountain biking guide for you. Or you can take a walk to explore Mill Valleys world famous lanes & paths that start just outside your door or.

A 5 minute drive takes you to downtown Mill Valley, it’s about 20 minutes away from ocean beaches, Muir Woods, or San Francisco. Or take a 40 minute drive to Napa/Sonoma-- the heart of Wine Country.

What makes this apartment unique

Mountain solitude on a 3/4 acre lot directly adjoining a wonderful hiking/biking trail. This sunny site overlooks majestic Redwoods with soaring ravens & hawks. A place to relax or a jumping off base from which to discover the San Francisco Bay area--or both.

Beautiful, Private, and in a fantastic location. If looking to get off the path, this is perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Anna and Chuck were fantastic hosts. My girlfriend and I were up for a long weekend to run the Marin Headlands half, and explore some of the surrounding scenery. We didn't need much, but really appreciated knowing Anna and Chuck were within reach if needed. They were welcoming, flexible to our scheduled for a late arrival, and the unit was perfect for our stay. Near by waterfall, hiking paths, and access to Muir Beach made this the perfect stay for us.

Thanks to the Utzman's! We'll be back!

Great place in the mountains.

  • 5 of 5

This was a nice to place to stay. Chuck and Anna were great. They responded quickly to any problem or question I asked. This is a great location from the city. We went to napa one day, we went to muir woods, we went to the city another day. Perfect driving distance from all. Especially to get to the redwoods. I loved waking up to the trees and the sound of the waterfall close by. The road turns into a one lane closer to the home which I'm sure makes people who aren't accustomed to those type of driving conditions nervous. Its all part of the adventure. We had a long, much needed girls weekend and we both had a good, relaxing time.

Beautiful Location, Fabulous Hosts

  • 5 of 5

We visited this property over a year ago (August 2015) but we cannot stop talking about it and wishing we could go back.

Chuck and Anna were so great. They offered several tips for our and recommendations for dinner. It's amazing what they have done with the property, it is amazing to "see the redwoods from halfway up," as they said.

I am a scaredy cat/white knuckle driver and while the road is very tricky, I just took my time and it was totally worth it! The trail from the porch is fantastic and the proximity to Stinson and Mill Valley and Mount Tam ... sigh, hope we can go back sometime soon.

It was a lovely weekend. We highly recommend this property.

Hard to drive to

  • 3 of 5

I have mixed feelings writing this review. I am sure the property and surroundings are lovely. Trouble is, the road to get there is very very narrow and twisty. We had to back up dangerously when meeting oncoming cars. Didn't want to drive it twice so we cancelled on the spot. Owners seemed surprised, I guess they are used to it.

I ended up forfeiting 2 nights' lodging cost.

I believe the property description should reflect the long flight of stairs and the road conditions; until it does, perhaps this review will be informative.

In summary, I can only recommend this rental for those who are adventurous and have rented a sub-compact car.

Beautiful home, fantastic hosts

  • 5 of 5

Not only was this home gorgeous, but Anna and Chuck were fantastic hosts. They are very kind, and helpful for whatever is needed. They went above and beyond!

I will say the surrounding roads are a bit tough to navigate, but it isn't serious enough for you not to enjoy your stay. This home is perfect for anyone looking to relax and enjoy some quiet time. Not a long drive into the city either, if you want to sight see.

Wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Beautiful location in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

Chuck and Anna were welcoming hosts for their beautiful property. The unit had all of the comforts of home, except air conditioning which got a bit tricky with 95 degree days but we managed. It's in a beautiful location with easy access to wooded hiking paths as well as a 15 min drive to Muir Woods. Mill Valley is a cute town and close to interstates for access to other cities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.

For a hiker or cyclist this is a premier location. The path from your apartment connects to Mill Valley’s world famous mountain biking/hiking trails. Walk up the street a few blocks & see the steps of the Dipsea Trail—walk down into town or hike to Stinson Beach or Mt. Tamalpais.

Take a 15 minute drive to the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, or a 40 minute drive to Napa & Sonoma Wine Country.
