The rental offered all the amenities and more. They provided everything you would find in your home. It is a true "home away from home", with all kitchenware, towels, outdoor bbq grills and patio set, washer and dryer, ocean playing equipment accessible on the property. It's a few steps from the beautiful Kailua white sand beach, literally 1 minute walk. Across the home is also a park. We got up early enough to watch the sunrise. The home is one of the best places to stay. We saw the owners once and that was it, but they were accessible when needed. I plan to rent this property again and again and recommend this location to others. The only thing that was missing was a conventional oven, but all other items were available in the kitchen. By far, one of the best places to stay.
We loved staying in this one bedroom apt that is literally across the street from the best beach on Oahu: Kailua Beach! Great swimming, body surfing, walking, running, and so much more! Well appointed kitchen and clean, attractive and useful furnishings. Worked well for us as two parents and young adult daughter. Responsive and gracious owner who lives on site when something needs attention. Highly recommend this place and we are definitely coming back!!! Thank you!
It was easy to communicate with the manager, and we found everything just as described when we arrived. The home was very clean and spacious, and all the appliances and furnishings worked great (with the minor exception of a couple burned out lights). There were plenty of clean towels, and we were thrilled to find such extras as a baby playpen and rack and shower by the laundry room. There was secure parking and none of the neighbors was a problem.
As far as the location, you couldn't hope for more. Kailua Beach Park across the road, has one of the best beaches we have found on any of the islands. A long beach with a gentle slope and no rocks in the sand! That's truly a rarity. The drive to Honolulu is only about 10-15 minutes (avoiding traffic), so you can reach anything you might need.
I highly recommend this place. Would stay here again if we return to Oahu.
To begin, this home is just across the street from the beach! If it's beach time you want, this is the place! Even though it is so close, it is also so quiet. This home is very spacious and comfortable. What impressed us the most was the thoughtful details. The kitchen is very well equipped including a "utility drawer" with some tools that no one would pack but could come in very handy. We were glad to have the flashlight when we set off at 5:30 am for the pill box hike to catch the beautiful sunrise. Our granddaughter enjoyed one of the movies in the nice collection of books, island guides, and movies. The beach equipment is varied for all ages and interests. The laundry room is super clean and convenient. It is also very close to an excellent restaurant for lunch and dinner and also to a fun small market and pizzeria. Also across the street is a large park with beautiful trees and walking paths. If you ever want to get out of the sun and sand but still have a place for the kids to run around or just to take a very nice walk or run the park is great. Recommend this home highly!
This place was a super find! It was perfect for our "home base" on the east side and was seriously just across the street from Kailua Beach. It was uber clean, very well appointed, and the most comfortable bed we had all vacation! And the AC was *perfect*! The photos do not do it justice. Our family of 3 stayed here for 3 nights, and with the gated driveway and private parking spot in a sea of desperate parking space seekers, we felt like "the Privileged" in Kailua. ;) The pull-out sofa made a comfortable bed for our teenaged son, yet the place was roomy enough to have space to stretch out in the rest of the common areas. The homeowners were very helpful and very communicative, without being intrusive in any way. I wish I could move in!
We stayed at this property for a week in June. It was our first vacation rental experience, but we felt confident in the many positive reviews from this property - and we were not disappointed! It literally was only 'steps to the beach' and right across the street from Kailua Beach Park. Even though it was located on a more main road, we never really noticed any noise inside. The property was spacious and as-described, although I don't think the photos do it justice!! It was great! The owner was very nice and was able to help and answer any questions we had. While this property is the lower level of the owner's house, we really did feel like we had the place to ourselves. The bed was comfortable and air conditioning units in the living room and bedroom were great, although the one in the bedroom was a bit loud at times, but not enough to be bothersome or keep us up.
We really enjoyed the location in Kailua - you can't beat how close it is to the beach, especially considering how little parking there is around. It was definitely worth it to have the private, off-street parking! It felt much more 'local' than Waikiki and the large full kitchen was perfect for eating meals, which was a money-saver. We did eat dinner one night at Buzz's. It was good, but quite expensive - although probably par for the course for the island. We stopped at Costco on our way in from the airport and we did make trips to Safeway almost daily as the prices were closer to what we were used to and beyond some basic spices, the kitchen was not stocked with food items or condiments (although it does have all of the pots pans, plates, silverware, and every other non-food item you need to prepare a meal!) We went to the Farmer's Market at the elementary school on Sunday, which was really fun. The produce was more expensive than at the grocery store, but there was prepared food and smoothies for purchase and live music..
While a little drive away from locations like Hanauma Bay, the Polynesian Cultural Center and the North Shore, we felt like it was worth it to be out of the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities. And the Pillbox Hike - breathtaking views!! The beaches really are beautiful. Overall, we will definitely be recommending this rental to our family and friends!
