About Pete Johnson
Hi! My name is Pete and my wife's name is Cindy. My wife and I were born and raised near Buffalo just 45 minutes from the lake. I'm a financial adviser and my wife is a retired special education school teacher. We have two beautiful children, both of whom are college students. You would think that with the children out of the house, life would be less hectic, but that isn't the case for us. Life has only gotten busier.
Pete Johnson purchased this Cottage in 2002
Why Pete Johnson chose Lime Lake
We have a family cottage five hours away but wanted something within an hour drive from home. We were looking for a cottage to vacation with our two children and we fell in love with Lime Lake. We bought this cottage 10 years ago and rebuilt it from the bottom up. Unfortunately, our lives have gotten busier and we are no longer able to enjoy our cottage as much as we would like to. We would love to share our cottage with someone who can enjoy it when we can't. This cottage would be ideal for a couples get away or a family vacation. The cottages are all in close proximity to each other, and the neighbors are very friendly. Lime Lake is great for Winter sports like ice fishing, snowmobiling and skiing in nearby Ellicottville. In the summer there is boating and jet-skiing as well as fishing and swimming. There really isn't a comparable lake.
What makes this Cottage unique
The great views from the living room and the front porch. The cottage is right on the lake. We just updated the paint and revamped the rooms in the entire cottage. Its the closest lake to Ellicottville. Newly remodeled with a new second-floor bathroom and some great new living room hardwood floors.

Nice place for low price
Some week before our vacation between Christmas and New Year, we started to look for some place to stay near Holiday Valley for 7 people. Not many choices left and everything was kind of expensive. This place looked nice with nice surrounding and kind of cheap. So we reserved it but were worried that we would be getting into some dirty place (which happened to us in Myrtle Beach). When we opened the door, we knew we made the right choice. The place was clean, nice up-to-date furniture with three bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs. Large porch facing the lake, I can imagine to be a popular hangout spot in summer. With 2 feet of snow and subzero temps, we didn't get to enjoy it much. One thing that could be better is the gas fireplace that is used for heating. The lowest setting makes the room and upstairs hot. So when we were inside, we had to occasionally put it on pilot. Also, it was not clear to us how to leave the place cleaned up or whether to wash the bedsheets (which we didn't do, run out of time). Maybe the instructions were there but I couldn't find them. These were just small details, we had great time.
Thank you for staying with us. We will work on better on site instructions for how to leave the place. No need to wash sheets. Just broom or vacuum clean is fine.
Fair vacation spot
View of the lake was beautiful. The owners were quick to respond to any questions. The house seemed a little unkempt. The sheets on the downstairs bed were not clean. The glass doors do not lock. The neighbor dogs bark excessively. There isn't much space to put your own items in the kitchen, as all of the cupboards are full. There were many items left in the frig. And, as stated on previous reviews, not a good place to swim at the dock, but easy to go out into the lake. We did appreciate the paddle boat and kayaks for our use.
So sorry you did not enjoy our beautiful cottage the way we and so many of our other renters have. In response to some of the above, the glass doors do lock, but they lock on the right side of the slider door. The sheets were cleaned and always are. I was in there adjusting the electric panel above the bed and may have ruffled them in the process. We have full cupbords because we advertise that you do not need to bring your own plates, pans, cups etc. The fridge had condiments for tenants to use until you either took them or threw them out in your infinite wisdom. Most tenants appreciate having them for their use. As far as the dogs, unfortunately we can't control other renters pets. We hope you still had a good time either way.
Clean and comfortable. Great Lake view!
We enjoyed the house. It had everything we needed. Great Lake toys, boats, deck seating. Tricky parking at first but worked it out
the place was very nice.
If I was looking to stay in this area again I would definitely look into this cabin.
We had a wonderful time at Lime Lake. The hosts graciously allow guests to use their assortment of watercraft, including 3 types of kayaks, a rowboat, a paddle boat and a little sailboat, all of which we enjoyed. Peter was available for any questions. The cottage dock is at a narrow inlet area with lots of boat traffic making it not the best place for swimming, but we boated out and swam elsewhere. There are pleasant country roads for biking in the area, and my sons took the pleasant drive to Ellicottville and tried the Holiday Valley mountain bike trails. We also tried their zip line/adventure park and had a blast, if you're looking for things to do nearby.
The cottage is charming, and everything was very clean and seemed recently updated. The first and second floors are connect by more of a ladder than a stairs, which was fine for us, but if my sister-in-law with bad knees had made the trip, she would have had to go around outside to get to the second floor. My only other complaint was that the hot water would erratically and unpredictably change to cold and back again, only a very minor issue. The large deck off of the kitchen is lovely for watching the lake and eating meals.
We liked the place. Our family enjoyed and would certainly consider to come back. It could have been
Our beautiful cottage sits directly on Lime Lake, with access to the boat launch and docks. The cottage is also a scenic 20 minute drive from Ellicottville, offering a great selection of bars, restaurants, and other attractions including Holiday Valley and Holimont.
