Constructed in the Old Nags Head style of the 'unpainted aristocracy,' this house, known to friends and family as 'The Coast Guard Station,' is filled with surprising amenities.
Featuring a pool larger than the ones at most hotels on the Outer Banks, this house has been a favorite gathering place for us for many years. We are proud to be offering it as a vacation rental beginning this summer, after renovations and repairs are complete.
There is off street parking for 6+ cars. A detached garage serves as a pool room and bar, complete with flat screen tv, sofas, pool table, and bathroom. This means you can have tons of fun without worrying about waking anyone up!
The huge, sprawling, multilevel deck overlooking the golf course surrounds the house and ascends to the massive swimming pool on the lower level. There is plenty of outdoor seating, a poolside dining table, chairs and loungers. The pool is completely private and sheltered from the wind by an outer wall.
We have two outside showers, one enclosed, and one on the pool deck. In addition, there is a charcoal grill.
On the main level of the house we have a large open floor plan with kitchen, dining area, and den with two sofas, chair, and large flat screen tv. Three of the four bedrooms and two baths are also on this floor. Two bedrooms feature queen beds, one bedroom features a pyramid bunk (one twin, one double). There is also a small office area with desk, perfect for surfing the web with our free wi-fi.
Up a small flight of stairs is a second large den with dining area and wet bar. Off to itself, it's the perfect place to put, or escape from, the kids. This room has two sofas, a 42 inch flat screen, and dining table.
The master suite is located above this area on its own private floor, accessible via spiral staircase. This spacious room, with king bed and flat screen tv, has a private balcony with ocean and golf course views. It's the perfect place to sit at the end of the day with a beverage, or to watch the sunrise over the ocean if you are an early bird. This room also has its own bath.
We are a pet friendly, SUNDAY to SUNDAY rental in-season.

This house has been in the family for years. Originally owned by PGA tour winner Curtis Strange's mother, it's proximity to golf is what drew her to the location.
We love this property because it is so quiet and secluded, yet close to all of the action. The pool is huge, and therefore a gathering place for most of the other families we know that are vacationing in the area. There are so many different spaces to enjoy, especially the detached game room. We don't have to yell at our young adult children about keeping it down late at night, because we don't hear them. We also love how we can feed so many people. There are tons of places to sit and eat, which is great, because I love to cook.
Got off to a rough start..The front of the house was quite grown up,so at first we weren't sure we were at the correct house; The cleaning team was still there when we arrived,so we had a late entrance; Upon arrival we did our inspection (per contract) and found alot of food under the couch/love seat cushions, trash under beds and in drawers, broken handles on 'wet bar' (wasnt a issue but took note of it) along with a few other things, including discovering the diving board had been removed from the pool (one of the main reasons we chose this house,so I had a disappointed teenager and spouse). We emailed the owner, but received no response.Later that first evening,my kids found a large roach in their bed.(I was told later, they call them water bugs and are common there. However I've never seem any in my 6 trips to the OBX) After this,my kids and I spent the week (half) sleeping in the living room.
After WE cleaned up all the issues we found (the best we could) we did enjoy the pool, minus the golf balls that were frequently shot at us.(26 balls hit while we were there...yes we kept track) And the house itself, was best described by my husband as ' a optical disguise' ...it looks like a shack outside, but has many happy little 'surprises' inside.. including a spiral staircase in the second living in that leads to the master suite, that has a patio that you can see the ocean from.(beautiful sunrise/sunset view also)
All things considered,it was a nice trip, that could be made better with a little extra TLC from the cleaning team.
Oh,i Have To give a HUGE thank you,to the Wonderful and kind pool guy! He was polite, friendly and very knowledgeable on the local area and was happy to share his knowledge (on snakes especially) Our pool was clean and we were never 'inconvenienced' by him in any way.Thank you sir!!! (Sorry I am terrible with names)
Also want folks to know,(what I was told by someone else)The DIVING BOARD was probably removed, due to rules/laws saying you can not rent out a home with a diving board..I appreciate and understand that law (if it is a law) However,i would recommend the owners remove the picture on the web page, that includes the board.Or at lol east add a statement of WHY the diving board was removed.(It IS quite a disappointment, when you expect it).
All in All, it was Good..👙𦐽𤱓
Our stay at Seascape was a wonderful experience. My family and I had a great time.
Wonderful place to get away and relax. We had a few problems upon arrival, Cable was out but Christi walked me thru a reset and all worked fine. Master bathroom toilet wouldn't flush, Christi called a plumber and he was out the next day. Did have an ant problem in the kitchen. Would definatley rent this location again. Thanks Christi..
The beginning of this stay was not good at all for us. We arrived after driving 13 hours to find no key and it took 45 minutes to get a response to from the owner. Finally we were in to a dirty cottage. The floors and family room furniture were unacceptable. I spoke to the owner and she did arrange someone to clean the carpets the next morning and the sofas were replaced the next afternoon. So my first day on vacation was a wash as the rest of my family went to the beach I remained with the people cleaning up and replacing items. The pool was wonderful and big but I was disappointed again since the pictures show a diving board that was no longer there. First picture advertising is of the pool and diving board. I think its inappropriate to continue showing the picture if you know it was removed. All the pool furniture was dirty enough I scrubbed them before using them. Cottage has potential but first impressions, lack of cleanliness and false advertising made me rate it low.
The home is abit outdated but was clean and was worth the value, The deck needs some refinishing but the pool makes up for it. it was one of the nicer pools we have had at the banks. you had to drive to the beach but it was easier to put everything in a truck and drive over. everything was close and the sunday to sunday rental beats the Saturday rush. it was a good stay overall overall.
This was a great house for the price. We had 8 adults and it was enough room for us not to feel like we are on top of each other. The house is rather outdated, and the boards around the deck need to be redone or sanded because they were very splinter ridden. The pool was great and a great size as well. The house was a little bit further from the beach than I would have liked but overall a great trip. The house was overall pretty clean inside and well equipped.
Located on the Seascape Golf Course, this house is central to all that the Outer Banks has to offer, including a beautiful lifeguarded beach, just across the highway.
