About Philip and Joanne Ghinn
We moved to Spain to enjoy a 'better life'. We spent several months deciding where to settle and decided this area was the best place due to the unspoilt beauty of the area. We enjoy living in our villa in the Winter and move out in the Summer.
Philip and Joanne Ghinn purchased this Villa in 2005
Why Philip and Joanne Ghinn chose Roses
We wanted to find a unique property. For us the location is the most important thing. We wanted to find the perfect combination of beautiful views and total privacy. It took us several months of searching, but eventually we found it! We renovated the property throughout. We never tire of the views and when we move back after the Summer we appreciate the beauty all over again! To see the Mediterranean in front and the sun set behind the Pyrenees to the side with nothing to obscure the view is amazing.
What makes this Villa unique
Total privacy, fantastic views and peace and quiet. It is very unusual to find a villa where it is not overlooked by any other houses with such amazing views. The villa is directly located next to the countryside.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Beautiful location. Ideal for our family break.
We had a lovely short break with our 2 children. The villa is located overlooking the whole of the bay of Roses. You see the sun set over the mountains too! The pool is beautiful and totally private. There is a large top step where the children paddled, even in March! The villa is tastefully decorated and the kitchen is well appointed next to the barbecue area. There is a large shady area to sit and eat. The weather was amazing considering we visited in March.
Our week here was just just glorious. The villa is high on a hillside overlooking the town of roses. You are at the end of a no through road next to a national park, so wonderfully peaceful yet not isolated. The views from the pool , sun terrace and virtually every room inside are simply stunning. You can see for miles , from all along the coastline to the mountains. Inside the villa is modern and high spec, with bags of space. Philip and jo met us at the villa and were very friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate in recommending this villa.
Fantastic Villa and Setting
The property had excellent facilities and was maintained to a very high standard. We had a very friendly welcome from the owners and were told to contact them if we had any problems. The swimming pool was attended to twice during our one week stay. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of a private setting with fantastic views. The local restaurant, the Balkan, was very welcoming and food good. We spent a day visiting in the local National Park and also a visit to the Greek and Roman cities at Empuries. The family went paddle boarding and did a diving course and we enjoyed a half day boat trip.
We would thoroughly recommend this property .
Had a wonderful family vacation. Perfecto!
Beautiful villa with everything we needed.
Lovely home with beautiful views.
The view of the sunset over the infinity pool is quite amazing, we can't get enough of it. We took more than 100 photos of just the sunset alone! :) Views of the mountains and the Mediterranean are beautiful as well. The location is perfect, very private and peaceful and close to many medieval towns which are one of the coolest places to visit. Thank you Phillip and Joanne for sharing your lovely home with us!!! :)
Located in an elevated position in Mas Fumats, standing on a 2000 square metre plot which forms part of an old olive grove, the villa and pool are in a totally peaceful and private location, overlooking the Bay of Roses. Mas Fumats is located on a sunny South-facing hillside in the foothills of the Pyrenees, amongst olive groves with National Park all around. It is an ideal location to escape the crowds, but to be only 5 minutes drive to the fishing port of Roses and the nearest beaches, restaurants and supermarkets.
Roses town has all the facilities you would expect of a modern resort with plenty of bars, restaurants and nightclubs. The vibe is very family-oriented and friendly. The beach is sandy and safe for children, and at one end of the town is the busy fishing port where you can buy fish and seafood just off the boats.
The Bay of Roses is a beautiful bay of sandy beaches stretching from L'Escala to Roses. The beaches vary from sheltered family stretches, with lifeguards, sunbeds and all facilities, to wild natural areas where the windsurfers and kite-surfers come to play.
The Cap De Creus with its stunning rocky coves and sandy beaches is approximately 15 minutes drive through breathtaking scenery. Take a drive to the lighthouse at the most Easterly point in Spain where it really does feel like “the end of the world”.
You can visit the popular seaside town of Cadaques, where you can see the former home of Salvador Dali which is now a museum. Cadaques features on thousands of Costa Brava postcards and the town is full of artist's shops and good restaurants.
To the North of Roses you will find an unspoilt headland with spectacular scenery and small coves, including Cala Montjoi where you will see El Bulli, the world famous restaurant.
There is a very large protected area of natural wetlands within a few minute's drive. The 'Aiguamolls de l'Alt Emporda' are an important habitat for many species of birds and very popular with birdwatchers.
Figueres, about 20 minutes by car, is a traditional town where you will find the main Salvador Dali museum. Other historic towns and villages are all around. The small city of Girona is about 40 minutes by car.
Aqua Brava water park is about 5 minutes drive and is great fun for all the family.
Empuriabrava is approximately 15 minutes away. Here you can hire a boat to explore the canals, or try sky diving either from a plane or in the indoor wind tunnel.
If you are looking for restaurants you are spoiled for choice in this area. The world number 1, El Celler de Can Roca, is in Girona but you need to book early! Closer to Roses there are any number of traditional restaurants in the local villages or along the sea front serving fish caught that morning and fresh local ingredients. In the villa you will find our recommendations for the best restaurants to suit all budgets.
