Why Patti Burk chose Montana

We came to Whitefish for numerous years before building this home. We would come on weekends and summer vacations. This is a well loved home!

What makes this house unique

Lots of deer to watch, and a couple of bald-headed eagles like to perch in the very tall tree out on the left side of the house. They like to swoop down in front of the deck to fish in the lake!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I had a feeling that it was going to be perfect for our family when I spoke with the owner on the phone. She wanted to make sure hat everything was what we asked for and it was. All eight of us flew into Glacier National Airport, hit the grocery store and headed to,the house. Whitefish Lake was gorgeous from every angle as we rounded the lake,to the end of the road where the cabin was. It is on the quiet side of the lake, about a ten minute boat ride to the lodge. We walked into he house and stared through the floor to ceiling windows at an incredible view of e trees and water.the house was beautiful and perfect for our family of six adults and two children. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook and the beds and bedding was wonderful and every bedroom had a view of the lake. I have even emailed Patti to ask her where they bought their bed in the master bedroom because my husband slept so well. The house was immaculate and there was lefty of room for our family inside and out. The dock was great for a boat and is on a quiet bay that was safe for water sports for the kids. We did a lot during the week, we went to Glacier Park,Flathead Lake, rode the lift to the top of the ski lift, hung out in town for lunch and cocktails a couple of days, boated to the lodge for lunch, dinner and cocktails at different times during the week. But our favorite days were when we spent Te afternoons on the boat ,barbecuing on the deck and talking till the sun set. It was relaxing week for all of us. We would love to come back!

Beautiful lake, beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

We (husband, myself and two daughters in their twenties) recently stayed for a week in this home and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The view of the lake was incredible from all bedrooms and from both the upper level great room and lower level family room/den. We alternated days of floating on the lake (highly suggest bringing a few of your own inflatables) and partaking in activities in the Glacier National Park area (red bus tour, hiking, white water rafting). The park is about an hour away so you may want to combine some activities into one day to save on driving time. Whitefish Lake is crystal clear and refreshingly cold. The house itself is great - very comfortable beds and a kitchen that is better equipped than mine is at home. We passed many happy hours sitting on the deck overlooking the lake and just enjoying eachothers' company. Patti and her husband were very easy to work with and have thought of everything in providing comfort for their guests. One night there was a wind storm which knocked out power (and downed a couple of large trees which luckily missed the house!) However, in spite of this - or maybe because of it - we had a fun evening playing pool and board games. We highly recommend staying here!!

An Amazing Experience

  • 5 of 5

The journey to the Burk's house began with a scenic drive along the western shores of Whitefish Lake. The views of the lake provide the proper introduction for what lies ahead. We found the house to be exactly as described by the advertising. The home is very well apportioned with comfort, convenience and spectacular views of Whitefish Lake. Patti provided an information manual for the house that explained every possible situation one would encounter in a strange place. If there was a question on any specific function, it was explained in the manual. Nice touch. There is an easy walk down a few stairs from the lower deck to the shoreline of Whitefish Lake which provides an excellent view of the western shore. There is a sizeable library and pool table in the rec room for a rainy day. This house is an amazing place for a relaxing vacation for any size family. We had dinner at the Whitefish Lake Golf Club restaurant. This is not a typical golf course snack shop. The food and setting was excellent.. We enjoyed touring the surrounding area and would consider a return to Montana in the following year. The Burk’s house would definitely be our preferred place to spend the time. Thank you Patti for your hospitality.

Star gazing, sunsets and mountain views at top of list at this lakefront home

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a fabulous family vacation at the Burk's home while attending our son's country wedding in Whitefish. Home included all our needs; lakefront property with swimming, clean and well kept to avoid allergens, lake views in every room, 3 bedrooms and rec room with pool table for fun evenings! If you or your loved ones have allergies-this is a rental home for you...clean, well stocked house supplies and very cared for. We rented paddle boards to enjoy the water at local shop which even delivered-nice! MacKenzie River Pizza a favorite restaurant for gluten free pizza!

Nature, star gazing and sunsets at it's best at this lakefront home with shorefront and dock access. Highly recommend. Thank you, Jolene

A perfect place to get away

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I shared Patti's house with our daughter, her husband, and their 12 and 10 year old sons. It was a perfect place for our vacation. The house is spacious, comfortable, and in a perfect location on Whitefish Lake. Sitting on the front porch places you in the woods, while the back deck overlooks the picture perfect lake. The home is welcoming and visitor friendly - the owners provide plenty of coffee for the Keurig coffeemaker and cooking is made much easier by the extensive collection of spices. We were provided with plush bathrobes and thick towels. The household manual that we received contained detailed instructions on everything from operating the TVs to docking a boat. Patti contacted us often - before our vacation to see if we had any questions, upon arrival to make sure we arrived safely and had everything we needed, and after we arrived home.

The house is a 20 minute drive from the town of Whitefish with its shops, farmers' market, and restaurants. Whitefish has a good independent bookstore and an active arts community. We went into Glacier National Park twice ( take the red bus tour along the Road to the Sun) and rented a pontoon boat for a day, We caught lots of fish from our private dock, loved the pool table, and enjoyed the collection of board games.

Whether you choose to fish, to enjoy the rigors of hiking, to spend time in town, or to just curl up with a favorite book, this home on Whitefish Lake is a gem and exceeded all our expectations. It was a difficult place to leave. We would love to return there some day.

Our second stay at this property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for the first time two summers ago and decided to try it again this year (albeit in late June vs. late July). Once again we had a very enjoyable stay. The house is very clean and comfortable for our family of 4. We rented kayaks and brought our bikes, so there is a lot to do if you are active. The paved road leading to the house does not have much traffic so it is perfect for bike riding. There are also well maintained hiking trails nearby. We went up to the ski hill and tried the zip lining, which was excellent. The views from the deck are outstanding, so even if you are not too active, it is a great place to just hang out!
