We had this villa built because we cannot imagine a better place to vacation than St. John. Our 'Almost Heaven' has a spectacular, panoramic view of surrounding Coral Bay and the neighboring Tortola and Drake's Passage.
Thank you Clancy's for sharing your beautiful home! The villa was so luxurious, the attention to detail with décor and amenities takes it to a new standard for other vacation villas - don't think any can compare!
We stayed here over Thanksgiving - what a wonderful location at any time of year! To escape from the cold in New England and arrive to beautiful sunny skies on St John - that was certainly "Almost Heaven", And the house was fabulous with the most breathtaking view of Coral Bay from the veranda. Having breakfast out there every morning listening to the birds was all I needed to relax. This property is so well equipped with everything you need, and more. The pool and hot tub are amazing. We enjoyed the restaurants in Coral Bay and only went to Cruz bay once during our stay. The North Shore beaches are fabulous and all within easy reach of the property by car. We would definitely plan on returning.
* Well-equipped kitchen, pool, towels, etc.
* Fabulous views
* Air con in all 3 bedrooms was welcome
* Scary driveway (4WD is mandatory)
* About 20 minutes to the North Shore beaches
* Liked the funkier, less touristy atmosphere of Coral Bay, but if you're looking for a lot of nightlife, you may want to be closer to Cruz Bay.
We would stay here again.
This is the third year in a row my family has stayed at Almost Heave, The house is very comfortable, the view of Coral Bay is amazing. It is close to everything in Coral Bay and since St. John is a small island it is very easy to get to Cruz Bay. The pool is amazing. It has wi-fi, TV, cooking utensils. And the caretaker, Sylvester, is just a call away if you need anything. We love this place and plan on returning.
We spent a week at Almost Heaven. With our daughters and son-in-laws. Two of we couples were celebrating our Wedding Anniversaries. The view is magnificent. Every morning sitting on the screened veranda, watching the sun come up over Coral Bay, drinking our coffee. This Villa is located high up on the side of Bordeaux Mountain. On this side of Coral Bay you catch the cool breezes. It is not easy to get to, even with a four-wheel drive Jeep. The road is rocky and very rough, and is up and down. Not for the Faint-of-heart. You have to back down the driveway after you have turned around. But it is worth it. Our visit was quiet as there were no neighbors.
The swimming pool is very large and well maintained. Nice reclining lounges. The Villa has all of the conveniences you need. The mattress in the Master Bedroom is very comfortable. Our daughters did complain that the mattresses in the downstairs bedrooms were not comfortable.
When you go to the Beach, the owners have provided Beach Chairs and a Cooler. On the Patio is a nice clean Grill.
We would recommend that the bathrooms be furnished with washcloths, at least two per person.
We could have used a pair of binoculars, in order to see more of Bordeaux Mountain and the Beautiful Coral Bay.
The caretaker, Sylvester, was attentive to our needs. We did notice that all of the floors needed to be thoroughly mopped and scrubbed. The counters and coffee table also needed to be scrubbed down.
Every convenience that you need is in this Beautiful Villa.
We found some great restaurants close by. Aqua Bistro, Indigo, Miss Lucy's. And a good fully-stocked grocery is located next to Aqua Bistro.
One of our daughters has stayed here before. If we ever get back to St. John this is where we will want to stay.
We spent two weeks at Almost Heaven to celebrate our 50th anniversary and we had a wonderful time. On previous trips to St. John, we stayed near Cruz Bay and we seldom had cooling breezes in the afternoon/evenings. While Coral Bay is much smaller, we found we prefer it to the Cruz Bay area.
The screened porches allowed us to eat breakfast while enjoying the cool breezes that gust across Almost Heaven which is located high on the side of the mountain. In the evenings, the cool breezes and screened porches allowed us to have drinks and relax in the comfortable furniture when not using the incredible swimming pool. The house is very well maintained and since there was just two of us, we had lots of room to spare.
The appliances are top-rate, including new washer and dryer units. Having safes in the bedrooms was a great feature that we enjoyed since we had been robbed at a rental property in Costa Rica a few years ago. At Almost Heaven, we felt secure.
The outdoor grill is excellent. We cooked steaks and chicken on it multiple times.
There are not a lot of restaurants in Coral Bay but once we found a good store, we cooked out more often and avoided extensive restaurant dining, along with its associated costs. You might want to try "Skinny Legs" for great hamburgers and hot dogs if you do want to eat out.
The road up to the villa is not really too bad, you could probably make it with a 2-wheel drive vehicle. However, to get to the house itself, you *must* have a 4-wheel drive vehicle since you go "off-road" to get to the villa driveway. The more we drove it, the more comfortable we got with it, but it is a daunting trek.
We will rent Almost Heaven again in the future. It is beautiful, peaceful, well-maintained and will give you the perfect place to stay and relax.
We have been to St John three times and have stayed at Almost Heaven each time. The house has a magnificent view of Coral Bay along with many amenities including a fully stocked kitchen, gas grill, air conditioners, beach chairs, coolers and washer and dryer.
We enjoyed morning coffee and watching the sunrise on the screened in porch. After snorkeling during the day at the beach we returned to the house to relax in the hot tub while the kids swam in the pool. We prepared evening meals on the gas grill and enjoyed cocktails on the porch overlooking the breathtaking views of Coral Bay and Tortola.
The house is conveniently located to many beaches, restaurants, shops and a market. We hope to be back to the Island again soon and look forward to staying at Almost Heaven!
