We are from Winter Springs Florida and self employed. Moving toward retirement and love to golf, ride our bikes, antiquing, garage selling, and enjoy good food, and wine, and sightseeing and traveling.. We decided to try renting our place and share its joys, but it is our second home and when we rent we want to be sure to select only those individuals and families that will take care of our place and preserve it and want to come back and have us want them back. We do have strict rules about pets and its not that we do not like pets but pets are not for everyone and we want all our guest to be comfortable and not have to worry about caring for their pets and our place at the same time.
Jim Gurley purchased this cabin in 2008
We came to this area during one of Florida's Hurricanes and loved the cool mountain breezes and gorgeous sunrises and views and scenery that make you want to stay longer.
We had this cabin custom built for relaxing but we do have stairs connecting the firepit and lower deck and the 4th BR which is on the ground level. If stairs are a problem or if you have young kids this is not a good selection for you. We love the elevation changes but its not for eveyone.
So peaceful...the sun rises 15-20 minutes later than normal as it has to peak over the mountain to our east. The birds are always singing and flowers blooming. The patio wraps around the cabin for convenience to the hot tub or just getting something cool or hot to drink and eat on the patio or in the hot tub.
The fire going in the fire pit and music on the patio while sitting on the patio or in the hot tub make for a romantic and tranquil experience.Read a book, play pool, polish horseshoes, games, take a hike, relax with your friends and chosen partner...you don't have to go any where else to have a memorable and enjoyable time when you are at our place in the great smokey mountains.
This cabin was in the perfect location between multiple towns with food, shops, parks, etc. We went to the Polar Express in Bryson City our first night, Peter's Pancakes and shopping in Cherokee on day 2, lunch in Sylva and then drove through the Smokey Mountain National Forrest on day 3. We had 4 adults, 2 teenagers, a 5 year old and a 2 year old. There was plenty of space for everyone. We will definitely be back! We would recommend this cabin to everyone!
Throughly enjoyed being at Birdie Ridge for our family Thanksgiving! Lots of fun was had by all in the hot tub, playing pool and darts but the highlight was using their Kareoke machine. Plenty of blackmail material to last years! The Gurleys have truly created a haven for good, clean family fun in the mountains! Comfortable beds and furnishings and a very well stocked kitchen! Thanks for sharing your home!💕 💕We would highly recommend and will be back again another year!
As soon as we walked in the door, we were ready to move in! We were there celebrating our father's 80th and sister's 55th birthdays. No one wanted to leave on our last day. It's a beautiful home and plenty of room for 6 adults. The floor plan is awesome and no matter what room you were in, it felt very spacious with the high ceilings both upstairs and downstairs. The double decks had plenty of room, easy to spread out and not be on top of each other. The themed décor throughout the house was exceptional, the kitchen and bathrooms were well furnished and the beds very comfortable. The downstairs was perfect with the kitchenette, fireplace, pool table, TV and even a karaoke machine! Jerry and his wife (the property managers) were so gracious with their time in walking me through everything, providing suggestions for things to do in the area and were very responsive if I called with questions. It truly felt like 'home'! The only suggestion we would make is to consider placing more stable seating around the fire pit. Although the wood furniture is perfect for the theme of the house, the weather (or perhaps age of it) seems like it's taken a toll on some of the pieces where they were broken or somewhat unstable to sit in. Overall, we loved the house and definitely look forward to coming back!
The whole experience was fantastic! The cabin is exactly as described and even better looking in person. All finished are quality, and the cabin was extremely clean, and stocked. No detail missed. Jerry was very informative, and helpful upon arrival. Lots of interior space, as well as outdoor deck space. The property is very private, with convient access to 74. The local towns were great, with plenty of activities and great food. The Gurley's home was above and beyond what I was expecting, and am looking forward to our next stay. Thank you again!!!
The pictures do not do this cabin justice. It is beautiful! Lots of privacy. They provide just about everything you need. We even found some first aid items in the master bath. It is close Harrah's Cherokee Casino and there is a quaint flea market about 5 minutes from the cabin. The cabin exceeded my expectations.
This is the perfect cabin for a family vacation! It has everything you could possibly need! We found ourselves wanting to hang out there most of our trip! From pool to darts to hot tub there is plenty to do! The location is great as well, short drive to Cherokee. The cabin is absolutely beautiful! We will definitely be coming back here!
Turn Right off US74 at mm76.5. Bradley Branch road. Continue about 1 mile to the gate at Grand View Estates. The entrance is now lighted at night for your convenience. Gate code is necessary. Once thru the gate make an immediate Left on Green Wing Knob. Follow road up, right, down, then right(personal gate), up, and up then left to 311. Parking on 2 levels and room to turn around at last turn. From the gate to our property is a short distance...maybe 1/4 mile.
Other local attractions include Harrahs Casino in Cherokee 10 minutes away with Ruth Chris, Breo gambling and big name entertainment. Sylva and Dillsboro have restaurants, movies shows, shopping ...15 minutes away. Rafting is 5 minutes. Hiking and waterfalls are all within minutes.Tranquility on site.

The train ride in open train from Bryson City is always a favorite.
Our favorite restaurant is LULU's in SIlva.(15 minutes)
