I am an investor with 2 beautiful daughters. We love to travel, we love nature and we live life to the fullest!
Cindy Velasquez purchased this house in 2011
Private homes are a rarity on Sail Bay so when i came across this unique opportunity i couldn't pass it up. Close proximitey to major attractions, the airport, downtown and beaches make this place amazingly convenient. The sunsets are amazing! And Sail Bay is a very peaceful part of our beach community. So you don't have to hassle with loads of tourists! Mornings and evenings are very quiet in this home.
Sand, water, and the boardwalk are right out the back door! Unbelievable Sunsets! Long peaceful morning walks on the sand or the boardwalk...by yourself or with your favorite person and a warm cup o'Joe! Let's not forget about all the amenities this house comes equipped with too!
We had a group of adults and all thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house. Clean, comfortable, great location, beautiful views and plenty of toys to keep us busy. Cindy was always available and easy to get a hold of if we needed anything. Would definitely recommend!
The "great rooms" upstairs and down were generous in space. Being so close to the beach yet not on the path was a real plus. We so enjoyed using the kayaks bikes and paddle boards. That saved us a lot of money from renting. The household amenities were a plus; so many conveniences I can't begin to list.
The only downside were the poor quality of mattress in the pullout sofa downstairs and the oven did not seem to heat up very well.
Working with Cindy, our host, was a huge joy. She genuinely wanted to make our stay as comfortable and carefree is possible.
I began planting the seed of surprise in December. My oldest son who lives in San Diego was turning 40 in March. Yikes!!! Getting his NC brother and family on board, considering weekend sport activities, was my challenge. It Worked!! I looked at the VRBO site for days. Keep in mind, I never did this before....always stayed with him. 🤔 However, his house is under major renovations. When I came across this home on Mission Bay, I knew it was absolutely perfect for a long weekend gathering. Having two young grandsons, geared me to a home that offered something for all ages under one roof. Bringing the "kid" out of all of us...leaving the rigors of everyday life behind. Shuffleboard was the # 1 hit of the weekend. We all agreed the warm inviting decor and breath taking view of the bay, the minute you walked through the front door, brought a feeling of relaxation and peace to everyone.
My daughter-in-law made up a story to get my son to the house Friday morning. For me, it was waiting for Santa to arrive. When we opened the door, he was in shock to see us and to hear he was staying at the house for the weekend. Only gets better!! My son has wanted to take his brother, and hockey player nephew, age 7, to a SD Gulls game. So that was surprise # 2. I had ordered tickets for Friday night on line for the 3 of them. The stadium was 10 min from the house. Wahoo!! We settled in to enjoy all the eminities the location and home had to offer including the incredible sunset on the bay Friday night. On Saturday we enjoyed Ping pong, biking, walking, shuffleboard, beach toys and people watching from the deck and patio. I ordered food from Phil's BBQ for surprise #3. While my son was kept very busy playing on the patio his close friends arrived and gathered on the first level of the house. As we scurried by the dining table his wife called him from the deck for his help. My wonderful daughter-in-law, Kelsey, videoed his sudden surprise as he walked up the stairs. Our youngest guest was 1 month old. 👶🏻 It was surreal to see his friends with children of their own. All amazing parents. Although, the marine layer was not kind on Saturday and Sunday, it didn't prevent us from enjoying the bikes, kayaks, paddle boards, and playing in the sand. Having a locked gate by the main front entrance of the house and one for the beach access was very comforting with a 3 yr old. It was a wonderful weekend being under one roof. We were all sorry to have it end. The Big Surprise!
I am reluctant to give a super glowing review; mainly because I am selfish and want this place available when we can manage to come back. The house, the grounds, the location were all absolutely gorgeous. We had a small beach ceremony with the reception set up on the back lawn facing the beach. Cindy was awesome to work with and assisted us with anything we needed. Some of the family took out the paddle boards and kayak; others used the bikes. In all it was the best mini weekend with family, a wedding, and comfortable accommodations. We would come back in a heartbeat!
Our stay at this tastefully decorated (yet ultra comfortable) home was a great fit for multiple generations. The younger set enjoyed all the toys (paddleboards, foosball, kayaks) while the older generation who are less active loved feeling a part of the activities from the deck that gave them a sense of being right on the sand with the rest of the group. The home is on beautiful Sail Bay which is ideal for heading straight to the water or taking a long walk or run bayside. There are numerous restaurants within walkable distance including Rocky's (known for the best burgers in San Diego), and if you have a car (or want to take a quick ride via Uber or Lyft), the location is centrally located and close to many incredible San Diego restaurants, including downtown and North Park. Our stay kept everyone happy, no matter their age or activity level.
This beach house, while unpretentious on the outside, is beautifully modern and impeccably decorated inside with all of the amenities that you could dream of. My family surprised me with a birthday beach get away and couldn't think of a better place to spend it. Three bedrooms have a beautiful beach view and one is great for a quiet retreat with its own bathroom. The other two bathroom are marvelously preserved retro. The gourmet kitchen is fully appointed with new appliances, and the game room downstairs has fussball and a huge TV for the sports fan. Perhaps the best part of the house is its location. You walk out of the back onto the sand, and there is a walking and bike trail that loops around the bay, or takes you to Pacific Beach. It is supplied with bikes, kayaks, and everything you need to have fun at the beach. Rather than going out in the evening we loved cooking in the gourmet kitchen and watch the sunset from the inside or porch. This is a great retreat for families sleeping 8 very comfortably, and the home is so spacious that we never felt crowded in the least. This is a place that wonderful memories are made, and I am certain you will want to return again and again!
kite boarding on the bay is one of SD's premier new sports! paddle boarding, running, biking, skateboarding kayaking...all right out your front door!! body surfing, skim boarding, boogie boarding, surfing are just a few minutes away on bikes! Hiking Torrey Pines preserve is amazing, Seaworld is almost across the street and you have to check out the Mission Bay Aquatic center to rent sailboats, jetskis or water ski boats!
