RIGHT on the beach.... Fenced in yard with grass for dog.

  • 5 of 5

Star of the show was level fenced yard with sod; walk through grass to get sand off your feet. Dog was not sandy after going outside to potty. After staying here I am not sure I will be able to adjust to a vacation where I have to walk the dog on a leash to potty.

House is RIGHT on the beach. At a really high tide the waves were hitting the sea wall, great sound. No steps into the house makes it easy for those of us who are not able to climb a lot of steps. Only a few steps down from the sea wall to the sand and waves. Perfect for 3 adults and a dog. High tide not a lot of beach, but there are very few people on the beach. Not even close to a public beach or public beach access. So very few people.

The two best parts of this was fenced in yard with grass for the dog and how close we were to the waves. House is an older cinder block home but in a great location and well maintained. Not a large house but with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths it works great.

It rained and was cold for 1/2 of our trip and if there were more people or even a 2nd dog it would have felt cramped when we could not go outside. But if you can get outside then it was outstanding. Kitchen was well stocked with crockpots, coffee maker, blender, mixer etc.

Only 5 minutes to publix.

House is older and not every outlet worked for electronics and not great lighting; did I say that it rained for 2 days making it dark. Honking fast internet. Xfinity had just installed fiber and boy was it fast.

No master suite but there are two bathrooms. Plenty of linens and a washer/drier to wash all those wet towels.

Very dog friendly.

Felt right at home.

The owners were very responsive and accommodating.

Great beach home!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd time renting this home for our vacation. The fenced in yard is great for my Bassett hound and the views are the best! Beth is great and I will most certainly rent from her again. The beds are very comfortable. It's a nice ocean front beach home that's affordable, clean, and it's on the quiet end of the beach. 2 thumbs up!! Thank you so much Beth! We will be back again soon 😎

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Beth's oceanfront beach cottage is a true gem! The fenced in back yard is such a blessing for dog owners and speaks to how pet friendly her property is! Beth does not have breed restrictions and only asks that you sign a hold harmless agreement - SO REFRESHING!!! The aesthetic beauty is undeniable. You will wake up to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, watch the tide come in and out all day, rest under a full moon that dances on the water and see all sorts of God's natural wonders! The color of the water is so very majestic and the shells on the beach are innumerable. This is by far our most favorite beach on the east coast! Beth's cottage is cozy and very accommodating, we wanted for nothing and only left to go to Publix so that I could cook meals. We never had a need or a reason to leave her cottage otherwise. It is the perfect size and oh SO comfortable. We were at home. If we ever win the lottery, we will make her an offer she can't refuse! :) We can't say enough good things about our experience at Beth's. We saw the most amazing wildlife and we were blessed with sunny days the entire trip. We will definitely be back! Beth's home is our kind of jam! Beth is very nice and she is only ever a text or a phone call away! Much love, Beth, it sucks to be home!

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic property, well equipped and cozy. The owners worked crazily to save their property. They went to great lengths to protect their home. Perfect for couples with small children and pets. We stayed there during the building of the wall, lots of teamwork and great efforts put forth by all. Plenty of beach time, the Tide fluctuates with the moon, so certain times may have limited access, but that goes with the flow. 5 stars*****

Exceptional Relaxing Oceanfront Cottage bike riding distance to St.Augustine SoFun!

  • 5 of 5

We had an exceptional week in this cozy oceanfront cottage. It was so charming. South Ponte Vedra is like having your own private beach. The house was clean & comfortable & well stocked. We bicycled into St.Augustine everyday for lunch & sightseeing on the nice bicycle lane on both sides of A1A which made it very safe. So fun! We also enjoyed kayaking and hiking in Guana State Park which sits directly across A1A. Surf fishing was also great. We cooked our catch on provided gas grill. The yard is fenced in on the Oceanside of the house which made it really nice for our golden, Roxie. There is a nice big enclosed back porch which is great for hanging out or reading a book or watching the waves. Great restaurants abound nearby as well as in St. Augustine. If you want to "unplug" and relax, this is where it's at! Biggest problem was the week passed way too quick! We will definitely have to return!

Pictures are deceiving

  • 2 of 5

I was a long term renter at this property from January, 2015 to March, 2015. The owners are being disingenuous with the pictures posted on VRBO. A sea wall has been built 35 feet from the back of the house (yes, i counted); there is no beach during high tide (which is why the sea wall was built), and there are VERY steep stairs to access the beach, when it is accessible during low tide.

Other issues with the house include: moldy bathroom tile and shower curtains, peeling paint on the porch, a bathroom that is so repulsive it is not even pictured as part of the property when visitors view the page on VRBO, rust on the porch, and general filth in areas of the house that need attention, such as blinds, windowsills, cupboards, etc.

I realize that this property is directly on the beach. However, the pictures are entirely deceiving in that they do not show the true appearance of both property AND beach. I have MANY pictures of this house's filth and grime, as well as of the very steep stairs leading to the beach from the newly erected sea wall, but, unfortunately, VRBO does not have an option that allows reviewers to post pictures.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately this past winter our area experienced some climate and environmental changes - obviously out of the homeowners' control - and local residents were in danger of losing their homes. A State of Emergency was declared for our beach and many of the residents had to construct sea walls in order to protect their properties. The stairs were built to code with standard rise to run ratio and should not be more difficult to navigate than any other staircase. This particular guest was made aware of the changes prior to check-in and was given the opportunity to receive full refund and stay elsewhere but she declined. New photos have been added to our profile and all are current and up-to-date. The home is also cleaned between guests by a professional cleaning service. However, the homeowners do not get the chance to check behind the the cleaning team every time a new guest checks-in. If we had been informed of the unacceptable condition of the home, we would have been more than happy to have cleaning service back out for a deeper clean. Unfortunately this guest never mentioned during her two+ months stay that she was unhappy with the property until after she left.

Why Beth Donovan chose South Ponte Vedra Beach

Beautiful secluded beaches and close to great restaurants and historical attractions in downtown St Augustine.

What makes this bungalow unique

Watch the sunrise over the Atlantic ocean from the master bedroom, have coffee on the private verandah, then enjoy a relaxing day at the beach. For dinner, take the short drive to Cap's on the Water for oysters and cocktails or stay at home to cook out on the grill.
