The 'Library' apartment is light, clean and filled with books. It opens onto a patio and garden area and overlooks an acre filled with large oak trees. It is adjacent to the Artist's 'Treehouse' Apartment #290731 and lends itself as the place for the kids or another couple vacationing together BUT– in their own place!
WHAT'S NEW IN THE LIBRARY: new love seat sofa and duette blind in living room and 2 new duette privacy/blackout blinds in the bedroom along with the sunshades that give shaded but full view onto the garden.
Keywords: Clean, sunny, garden view, covered parking.
I am a full time artist making illuminated shell sculpture and lampshades from natural seashells. Since 1974! I still find them absolutely beautiful. Then there's the gardens– when I need a 15 minute work break I snip and pluck, rake and squirt. As much as I love to squirt water– I shouldn't be living in California!!
Desiree purchased this apartment in 1982
It suits me completely! When I first saw this house, as a private sale 35 yrs ago, I couldn't speak. It had just the kind of 'bones' I wanted in a house plus a killer view. Stunned disbelief. And bought it immediately.
–MONTEREY BAY AQUARIUM passes are included with your stay. Good for two people with a 49.00 value. Go over and over again instead of trying to see it all in one day! Plus 10% off in the excellent Aquarium Gift Shop.
–WINE TASTING is big here because we have such an excellent wine growing appellation– ask me about Tasting Rooms.
–WILD TURKEYS and deer heavily populate the area and are wonderful to observe.
–FIND AN INTERESTING BOOK and read it while you're here. Ask me for recommendations and tell me where your interests lie. But leave the books where you found them when you depart.
Hope this finds you well. I stayed in your Library apartment last October with my husband Fred. We were only with you about 3 nites, but we had a great stay and I know we told you so before we left. However, since back in NJ, I have often thought about what a beautiful, magical place you live in and would be remiss not to tell you how the experience of meeting you and seeing how you live impacted me in a very positive way. NJ--if you've never been, is quite different.
Not sure when we'll get the chance to get back to Carmel Valley, as you well know there's a lot of world to see (we leave for Spain next week). In any event, I just wanted to tell you how fantastic it was to meet you and learn a little bit about your life--as well as poke thru a few of your books!
My wife and I stayed in the "Artist's Library " for a friend's wedding recently and absolutely loved it! The unit has plenty of space and is adorned with great art and tons of books which really give the place an awesome energy. The exterior garden area is serene is very well taken care of. It felt like the Shire! Desiree, the owner, was wonderful in every way and really made sure we had a nice stay. Everything about our stay was top notch, we only wish we could've stayed longer to enjoy the scenery and maybe read a book in the garden. We will definitely be back! Thank you Desiree!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Artist's Library. The location is tucked away from the main road but still very easily accessible. It is a beautiful, quiet, peaceful property and the little apartment we stayed in was perfect for us. Desiree was extremely kind and very accommodating. We definitely recommend staying here if you're visiting the Monterey/Carmel area!
Desiree's Library Apartment is set in the most beautiful landscape, surrounded by gorgeous oak trees and a truly beautiful garden. It is peaceful and nicely removed from the crowds of nearby Monterey.
The apartment itself is nicely laid out, with a table, sofa, kitchenette, and a VERY comfortable queen bed, as well as a bathroom with tub and shower. This apartment is clearly well-loved, with gorgeous wood floors, and attractive decorations that add to the charm. My husband and I are big readers, and it was great fun to be surrounded by loads of good books on the shelves! In addition, Desiree herself was very welcoming and accommodating, and was very quick to reply to text messages. We hope to return in the near future!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for my birthday and it was perfect. The property is beautiful and quiet and the apartment was perfect for the two of us. My boyfriend did some great biking and we spent a day in Monterey, Santa Cruz and Carmel. We had a amazing stay and I was sad to leave. Desiree is a great hostess and I would definitely recommend staying here if you want a nice, relaxing trip slightly off the beaten path.
The Artist's Library/Garden apartment is located in a super private, gated property that is absolutely beautiful and only about a half-mile from the heart of Carmel Valley. The apartment itself is charming and unique, with every nook and cranny filled with books. The black-out shades also provide ultimate privacy.
My girlfriend and I used the apartment as a jumping off point to visit various beaches/hikes in Big Sur on Saturday and Monterey on Sunday. Desiree was also wonderful from the start, greeting us and giving various recommendations around town, as well as entry to the aquarium. It all made for a perfect, relaxing weekend - highly recommend if you're looking for a place to stay anywhere in this area!
Cozy, comfy and charming cottage. Desiree has done a fantastic job with decorating- very eclectic.
Tons of books- I found some from my childhood :)
Desiree was a great hostess - she met me and showed me how everything worked in the apartment.
I would highly recommend staying here.
