The Artist's Library apartment is light, clean and filled with books. It opens onto a patio and garden area and overlooks an acre filled with large oak trees. It is adjacent to the Artist's Treehouse Apartment #290731 and lends itself as the place for the kids or another couple vacationing together, BUT– in their own place!

My Artist's Treehouse and Artist's Library couple-size apartments are at the top of the most popular in the Carmel/Monterey Peninsula area. Experience them.

WHAT'S NEW IN THE LIBRARY: new love seat sofa and duette blind in living room and 2 new duette privacy/blackout blinds in the bedroom along with the sunshades that give shaded but full view onto the garden.

Keywords: Clean, sunny, garden view, covered parking.

About Desiree

I am a full time artist making illuminated shell sculpture and lampshades from natural seashells. Since 1974! I still find them absolutely beautiful. Then there's the gardens– when I need a 15 minute work break I snip and pluck, rake and squirt. As much as I love to squirt water– I shouldn't be living in California!!

Desiree purchased this apartment in 1982

Why Desiree chose Central Coast California

It suits me completely! When I first saw this house, as a private sale 35 yrs ago, I couldn't speak. It had just the kind of 'bones' I wanted in a house plus a killer view. Stunned disbelief. And bought it immediately.

What makes this apartment unique

–MONTEREY BAY AQUARIUM is the #1 attraction in Monterey County.

–WINE TASTING is big here because we have such an excellent wine growing appellation– ask me about the 20+ Tasting Rooms within a mile.

–WILD TURKEYS and deer heavily populate the area and are wonderful to observe.

–FIND AN INTERESTING BOOK and read it while you're here. Ask me for recommendations and tell me where your interests lie. But leave the books where you found them when you depart.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Hi Desiree,

Hope this finds you well. I stayed in your Library apartment last October with my husband Fred. We were only with you about 3 nites, but we had a great stay and I know we told you so before we left. However, since back in NJ, I have often thought about what a beautiful, magical place you live in and would be remiss not to tell you how the experience of meeting you and seeing how you live impacted me in a very positive way. NJ--if you've never been, is quite different.

Not sure when we'll get the chance to get back to Carmel Valley, as you well know there's a lot of world to see (we leave for Spain next week). In any event, I just wanted to tell you how fantastic it was to meet you and learn a little bit about your life--as well as poke thru a few of your books!

Thanks again,

Nina"

Sweet little cottage in Carmel Valley

  • 5 of 5

I had a wonderful stay at the Artist's Library while visiting friends in Carmel Valley. The setting was lovely and peaceful, and the grounds, with live oaks and a spaciousness that came with being a little gated compound on a quiet street. Desiree was so affable and charming, and it is so easy to fall into conversation with her. She really wants her guests to have a great experience, yet affords privacy as well as hospitality. My Carmel Valley friends were happy that she treated us to some homemade rosemary shortbread, too. I'd happily come back for another stay!

Wonderful Stay! Very comfortable and quiet. Would recommend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the library and were so glad we didn't stay in the noisy wedding venue hotel in Carmel Valley. It was nice to come back to the peace and tranquility of the lodge. The bed is very comfy. The grounds are beautiful and we would sit out in the evenings with a glass of wine in the serenity. There was a good size bathroom with full comfy bath tub and shower. The lounge and kitchenette were very handy. We could toast begels in the morning with our coffee and and sit out on the patio. We even had an evening meal and Desiree had a little "Fairy" collect all the dirty dishes and return them clean! She is a great host. I would definitely recommend this spot to others!

Full of personality and very cozy

  • 5 of 5

Great landing base for my short trip to Monterey. It felt isolated enough to feel like a getaway, but was close to everything I wanted to do.

Desiree was a great host; super personable and easy going. I've already recommended this accommodation to friends. :)

What a cozy and peaceful location. We loved our visit and would recommend this location to anyone visiting the Monterey Peninsula. Great communication with the owner both before and during our stay.

A little slice of heaven

  • 4 of 5

A clean, well-stocked studio. I would give it five stars but it is basic. It was just as described. The garden is beautiful and the library ambience is nice. It is quiet, safe, convenient and restful and was one-third the price of some of the hotels we looked at. The proprietor is friendly and helpful.
