About Yukiko Northon

Aloha! E Komo Mai! Welcome to our Hale! We are the Northon Family, Jeff, Yukiko, and our children Nicholette, Alyssa and Jason. We have worked together to bring this wonderful house together so that it may be used as a retreat, a vacation house and eventually, Jeff and my permanent residence. We hope to share the love we have for our home with you and give you a chance to experience the wonderful island of Hawai’i.

Currently, we are working and staying on the Mainland until the children finish High School.

Why Yukiko Northon chose Kona Coast

We purchased this house with the intent to move back to Kona after the kids grow up. We have remodeled this house for comfort and beauty and want to share it with those that can appreciate Hawai'i and its inhabitants.

What makes this house unique

This house is located in the Highlands where the air is cooler and crisp in the evenings but still warm by mainland standards. It is a place where the *rush* of being on vacation can be let go and one can truly relax to the sounds of nature. Being among the Locals, it is very different than the 'Resort Style' living, coupled with the Concierge Service, it is by far, the 'best of both worlds'!! This house is a place where dreams are made and realized.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Perfect stay and excellent value

  • 5 of 5

We used the Kona Greenhouse as our 'headquarters' when we relocated to the Big Island two weeks ago. It's perfectly located to run every errand in Kailua-Kona and beyond. Palani Road, Henry Street, Alii or Makala, we were always a quick ride in the rental. Waikoloa and Honokaa to the north or Captain Cook and Ocean View to the south, the Greenhouse was super convenient. So many beaches are close by that I can't imagine a better spot to be.

The TV here is beautiful, but we only turned it on once, as we were usually at the beach. :)

I needed aloe for a sunburn one day. It was here. I needed a printer one day. It was here. The Greenhouse has so many thoughtful appointments. Clean, nicely furnished and bright and cheery, too. We truly lucked out with this property, because we couldn't have asked for a better location or a nicer house to start our new life here on the Big Island.

The house is as cute the pictures shown -- we loved it here and think you will, too.

So happy we chose the Kona Greenhouse!

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful home, excellent location, the perfect elevation -- not too hot, not too cool. The owners have provided all the information and amenities we could need and them some. This was the perfect home for us to use as our central 'hub' for activities throughout north and south Kona, up into Waimea, and the rest of the Island. Highly recommended.

Fantastic house for the family

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfectly located, and you could find everything you might possibly imagine. It was really clean and it was perfect for resting in the evening after long days visiting the Island.

Yukiko was very helpful and always replied promptly to any question. She made our lives easier.

I highly recommend it and I wouldn't doubt it to go back to this wonderful house.

Thanks for allowing us to stay there!!

Wonderful VRBO!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in several Vacation Rentals and this one is the best so far! The place is stocked with everything you could possibly need! The kitchen is fully loaded with even tupperware type containers to use for leftovers! It was very handy and there was even filtered water in both the upstairs and downstairs refrigerators ready for us when we arrived! The kids stayed upstairs and we had our own little retreat downstairs. (We have older children) It was great! It was nice to be away from the bustle of Alli'i although you have to account for extra time during "rush hour". It took a little longer to get anywhere but being from the DC area, it was nothing! Yukiko was super helpful and she was very accommodating in allowing us to keep our bags on the property as we had a late flight out. It made the logistics so much easier for us! Thank you Yukiko! It was the best vacation we've had yet!

I also want to say that the beds were super comfortable and the towels were great too! We picked up passion fruit off the ground and they tasted better than the fruit we bought at the farmer's market! Everything was really clean and neat. Try the TK Shabu Shabu restaurant in town, it is lots of fun! We took the Fair Winds trip to Keaulakekua Bay and it was the best! The funniest thing we did was snuba on the Fair Winds trip! You gotta try it!

There are so many wonderful adventures that you can have here in Hawai’i, that it would be difficult to list them all, however, here are a few that we have enjoyed.

1) Dolphin Quest: Take the time to learn all about the dolphins and interact with them. It is fantastic to be able to touch them and learn about them.

2) Kohala Kayak and SUP: Sean, of Kohala Kayak is a wonderful guide and teacher of Stand Up Paddle. He also does Kayak trips and other water activities. He is knowledgeable about the area and is a very patient teacher.

3) ZipLine: This is quite the adventure and very fun.

4) Mauna Kea Observatories: This is a fantastic day trip. Be sure to take the time to adjust to the elevation at the store for at least an hour before continuing up to the Observatory. There are tours available if you do not want to go up yourself.

5) Paleaku Peace Garden: A wonderful place for looking at different plants and scenery. They have a garden representation of the Milky Way, which is pretty cool.

6) Akatsuka Orchid Gardens: This place has an *amazing* collection/display of orchids for sale and display. It’s on the Hilo side of the Island.

7) Hawai’i Tropical Botanical Garden: Located off of Hwy 19 near the Hamakua Coast. The drive going to the garden is also quite beautiful.

Well, there are lots more adventures available, but, half the fun is finding them!

You may also contact Kona Concierge to book and plan other available adventures of your choosing.
