Beautifully decorated, quiet home in the Kona Highlands. Away from 'resort style' living, this very local home is the ideal place to get a true flavor of living in Hawai'i. A house that dreams are made and realized. Located in the cooler elevations, it tends to be less muggy and hot. You can relax on the lanai, barbeque and watch the sunset. Only 10 minutes from the airport and easy to get to. Beaches and downtown Kona are less than 15 minutes away. Two bedrooms, kitchen, and bath upstairs. One bedroom, kitchen and bath downstairs. 1 Queen Airbed and 1 twin futon available for your use. We have a complimentary Concierge service available. Specialty services are available and paid to the provider at time of service.

Aloha! E Komo Mai! Welcome to our Hale! We are the Northon Family, Jeff, Yukiko, and our children Nicholette, Alyssa and Jason. We have worked together to bring this wonderful house together so that it may be used as a retreat, a vacation house and eventually, Jeff and my permanent residence. We hope to share the love we have for our home with you and give you a chance to experience the wonderful island of Hawai’i.
Currently, we are working and staying on the Mainland until the children finish High School.
We purchased this house with the intent to move back to Kona after the kids grow up. We have remodeled this house for comfort and beauty and want to share it with those that can appreciate Hawai'i and its inhabitants.
This house is located in the Highlands where the air is cooler and crisp in the evenings but still warm by mainland standards. It is a place where the *rush* of being on vacation can be let go and one can truly relax to the sounds of nature. Being among the Locals, it is very different than the 'Resort Style' living, coupled with the Concierge Service, it is by far, the 'best of both worlds'!! This house is a place where dreams are made and realized.
Look no further!! This is the place you will want to stay. Close to everything Kona, great neighborhood and the host is awesome!!
Clean and easy. Great interaction with landlord in answering questions.
The house was perfectly located, and you could find everything you might possibly imagine. It was really clean and it was perfect for resting in the evening after long days visiting the Island.
Yukiko was very helpful and always replied promptly to any question. She made our lives easier.
I highly recommend it and I wouldn't doubt it to go back to this wonderful house.
Thanks for allowing us to stay there!!
This is a great vacation home! very close to the airport and downtown Kona. It has everything we need! I will definitely live there again if I visit Big Island in the future!
We have stayed in several Vacation Rentals and this one is the best so far! The place is stocked with everything you could possibly need! The kitchen is fully loaded with even tupperware type containers to use for leftovers! It was very handy and there was even filtered water in both the upstairs and downstairs refrigerators ready for us when we arrived! The kids stayed upstairs and we had our own little retreat downstairs. (We have older children) It was great! It was nice to be away from the bustle of Alli'i although you have to account for extra time during "rush hour". It took a little longer to get anywhere but being from the DC area, it was nothing! Yukiko was super helpful and she was very accommodating in allowing us to keep our bags on the property as we had a late flight out. It made the logistics so much easier for us! Thank you Yukiko! It was the best vacation we've had yet!
I also want to say that the beds were super comfortable and the towels were great too! We picked up passion fruit off the ground and they tasted better than the fruit we bought at the farmer's market! Everything was really clean and neat. Try the TK Shabu Shabu restaurant in town, it is lots of fun! We took the Fair Winds trip to Keaulakekua Bay and it was the best! The funniest thing we did was snuba on the Fair Winds trip! You gotta try it!
Just as the title of this review indicates, the Kona Green House truly provides you with a feeling of home. Our flight was late arriving and by the time we reached the house we had been traveling for more than 12 hours. As you can imagine we were ready to relax, have a bite to eat and go to bed. And that was exactly what we where able to do. The concierge service had done the shopping, install the food in the refrigerator and/or cupboard and as a bonus had created a very festive arrangement of fresh local produce. Needless to say it was perfection. The owners have really gone out of their way to provide you with all the creature comforts of home. So if you are the type of traveler that enjoys emerging your self in the local way of life, this is the house for you. Situated in a lovely neighborhood, up the mountain from the airport and some of the best beaches on the planet, it was perfectly placed for easy access to both Kona and Waima.
We will definitely be returning. Thank you Yukiko for yourhospitality!
The house was clean and very comfortable all the amenities were great, we really enjoyed the living room with the comfortable couches and big tv. The lanai was perfect for bbq so we spent a lot of time outside. Super quiet neighborhood in the middle of all the activity. I couldn't have picked a better place to relax on my vacation. I will definitely be staying in the green house on my next vacation.
There are so many wonderful adventures that you can have here in Hawai’i, that it would be difficult to list them all, however, here are a few that we have enjoyed.
1) Dolphin Quest: Take the time to learn all about the dolphins and interact with them. It is fantastic to be able to touch them and learn about them.
2) Kohala Kayak and SUP: Sean, of Kohala Kayak is a wonderful guide and teacher of Stand Up Paddle. He also does Kayak trips and other water activities. He is knowledgeable about the area and is a very patient teacher.
3) ZipLine: This is quite the adventure and very fun.
4) Mauna Kea Observatories: This is a fantastic day trip. Be sure to take the time to adjust to the elevation at the store for at least an hour before continuing up to the Observatory. There are tours available if you do not want to go up yourself.
5) Paleaku Peace Garden: A wonderful place for looking at different plants and scenery. They have a garden representation of the Milky Way, which is pretty cool.
6) Akatsuka Orchid Gardens: This place has an *amazing* collection/display of orchids for sale and display. It’s on the Hilo side of the Island.
7) Hawai’i Tropical Botanical Garden: Located off of Hwy 19 near the Hamakua Coast. The drive going to the garden is also quite beautiful.
Well, there are lots more adventures available, but, half the fun is finding them!
You may also contact Kona Concierge to book and plan other available adventures of your choosing.
