Our visit was everything we hoped for - lake access, relaxing and so much fun! We loved having the private dock, and although you had to cross Garrett Highway to get there, it wasn't an issue for us. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit, and were able to spend most of our time outside, which is what we wanted to do. The owner was very responsive to all questions we had, and was great to work with.
We have been to Deep Creek a few times, but never with a dog and so house hunting had one more requirement. Internet for those of us who while on vacation still needed to connect with work or college, enough beds for 6 adults, some kind of pool or ping pong table for rainy days, hot tub for some in the evenings, and lake front. Our Lake Front had all of those and is pet friendly.
The house is on Garret Highway, which since it had been about 5 years I didn't remember how busy it was. We had to cross Garret Highway to get to the dock. If you cross at perhaps 8 a.m you can get there safely, but at other times with my elderly mother, it would have been too precarious. I say this because while yes, you just walk down the driveway and cross the road, it is a busy, busy road with a 40 mph speed limit...18 wheelers also fly down that road.
Having said that, we did have an easy solution. We went to the state park where there is a lovely beach in one area, and nice trails for hiking with the dog in another area. They also have a nice nature discovery center for kids toddlers to probably 7th grade would enjoy it the most.
If you buy a pass for the week it is 40 dollars for a car (out of state) if you just go a day or two it is 5 dollars per person per day, so do the math to see what makes the most sense for your group.
The kitchen is a nice size, but limited with pans and bowls for cooking. Also, you might want to bring some pot holders. There is a nice fire pit outside, and a great hot tub. The internet works well, we used fans for the hotter days and those helped greatly. There are also many books you can read there.
To play pool you need to play with half a pool stick, so it doesn't hit the wall; feels weird but was quite fun actually.
When we first got there there was a horrible smell. We thought a cat had sprayed, but it was mold or mildew. The owner sent a company that brought in an industrial dehumidifier, and then more was going to be done the day we left prior to next group coming in. The large dehumidifier helped wonderfully. Kevin, the owner is very helpful and responsive.
We enjoyed our stay very much because we felt so relaxed. The beds are super comfortable. We did one day rent a Pontoon from Bills Marina, and that day got my mom to the dock
Best part was the dock for swimming and fishing. The hill to the dock is steep. Close to everything. Short drive to deep creek state park and swallow falls. Enjoyed hot tub and fire pit. Home did get pretty hot a few nights with no air conditioning in August. If you like to cook I'd suggest bringing your own supplies, what was there was minimal. Nice being able to bring our dog, she enjoyed the yard and swimming off the dock. Overall had a great time but the home itself is older and would be so much nicer with just a little extra care.
Very nice and relaxing was my stay
I was there to unwind and that's what I did.
Beautiful view of the lake. Nice pool table downstairs.
Nice and private. Close to shopping and to the Lake park.
I needed a place with 3 brs that allowed pets that was close to Deep Creek State Park since that is where the Savageman Triathlon is centered. This is a central location to all the state parks, Wisp, restaurants and entertainment. We didn't get to fully utilize all the amenities because we were only on there for 2 nights, but would rent again for a winter getaway.
This was our first time visiting Deep Creek Lake as a family. We had a wonderful experience, and were so very happy with OUR LAKE FRONT home. Sitting on the porch and relaxing was so nice, as well as swimming from the dock. Our teenagers had a blast with the stand up paddle board that we rented for the week. We were so happy to bring our family dog along with us, too. She especially enjoyed watching all of the jet skis from the dock. Some highlights for our family were: the pool table, visiting State Parks (including the great water slide at Dan's Mountain), the WISP mountain coaster, Brenda's Pizza, and Perkins. We all can't wait to visit some time soon again, and would certainly recommend it to anyone.
