We especially love the location of our house nestled within the natural beauty of the island. We are a short walk (or bike ride) to the beach and only 1/2 block from the shared pool (kiddie pool too), bath house and magnificent dock complex which over looks the Kiawah River. Great for fishing and crabbing too !
We love morning strolls to the dock, calm and peaceful, spying for dolphin and shore birds feeding at the river, what a way to greet the day or in the evening watching the sun set over the river!
Kiawah island is an exclusive private island, located approximately 21 miles from historic Charleston, South Carolina. The island offers over 10 miles of sandy beaches, world class golfing on five different courses and two tennis villages.

As a Landscape Architect / Environmental Designer both my husband and I loves the great outdoors and also love to be physically active. It is so much fun to explore the island, always changing and very dynamic. We love to bike, sail, paddle, run, hike, walk and just BE.
Sandy Lastein purchased this cottage in 2003
We love the beach and river and that the island is so well designed with nature and good stewardship of the land in mind.
We have been vacationing on the island since 1986 and finally decided it was time to purchase a cottage ourselves.
We have built such great memeories with our family here. Every visit we bond closer. We just love that we can park our car and bike everywhere and that we can all do something different because of our unique location. You have the beach or the river, you can bike or swim, or shop or explore or simply read a book in the hammock on the deck.
This cottage was exceedingly warm and welcoming! With 4 children I was worried I'd be afraid of the kids touching everything, but I wasn't. We felt so at home, and enjoyed the time there so much. Very, VERY family friendly and close to the pool which was a big hit with the kids!
My family of 3 and my best friend's family of 2 had plenty of room in this cottage! It is so close to everything that we were able to enjoy the beach, pool and views of the river. Don't pay attention to any negative reviews. The furnishings were nice and place well kept. I have already recommended it to another friend looking for somewhere to stay at Kiawah. We only wish we could have stayed longer!
Nice, clean cottage and great location! My husband and I had plenty of room for us and our 3 pre-teen and teenage kids, plus nice, hot showers, and very comfortable beds with plenty of extra pillows and blankets if needed. With our rental bikes, we barely got in our car at all once we parked it in the driveway. We liked being on that end of the island, close to the river and a little more private. Our beach weather didn't turn out great, and some of us are not big on the beach, so to have the river activities (crabbing, fishing on the pier) was a huge bonus. We wouldn't stay anywhere else from now on. Just wish we would have brought our kayaks, but they are available for rent at several places. All appliances worked great, and it was super to be able to do laundry. Kids even made friends with some others in the area and biked on their own to park, ice cream, etc. Owners are very nice and made sure we had what we needed. Coming back.
Kiawah Island is very nice place to visit. The home was comfortable and located within a reasonable distance to Charleston and other areas one might want to visit while in that area. It is very close to the pool and the river. Crabbing & fishing were not good from the pier, though. According to the locals & those who have been visiting there for years, it typically isn't good there, so plan to bring your boat or go charter fishing/crabbing. Nice places nearby to rent boats for a day or a half day. No fishing/crabbing supplies at the house, just a rusty old crabpot that was in terrible shape and could not be used. Cookware in the home was in very bad shape, old tiny TV in living space, old furniture & bedding, . . . just some basic things that would have made the home more comfortable. Having stayed at my Mom's 3 bedroom condos for years on the Outer Banks of NC, I'd have to rate the home as very nice; but average as far as accommodations go. Decking on the front and back is in very bad shape; but screened in porch is a nice area. Owners are very nice people to work with.
We thoroughly enjoyed this cozy cottage in Kiawah for a getaway for our family. Great location - beautiful pool, dock for viewing sunsets and fishing and fun bike trails. Not a bad drive to beaches and Fresh Fields shopping center. Cottage was very comfortable and clean. Plenty of room for our 3 kids and us!
