FLORENCE ITALY PERFECT BARDI APARTMENT
Savor all that Florence offers from a superb central location that also features a spacious private terrace for enjoying the Tuscan sun. The ideal location of this apartment puts you right in the center of Florence.
This apartment is in a wonderful, central location, steps from the Ponte Vecchio bridge. This is the popular Oltrarno area of Florence.
It overlooks a very interesting historical and artistic Florentine landmark, the Vasari Corridor, an aerial passageway built by Cosimo di Medici in the 1500s to connect his nearby Pitti palace to his offices in the Uffizi.
Although the post-war construction in Florence lacks the charm of the older buildings, the building is handsome, fits well with its older neighbors and the apartments are well laid out and efficient.
The building interior hallways are clean and freshly painted. There are several steps up to a small elevator.
The apartment is located on the 5th floor (North American designation, 4th European), there is an elevator.
There is a small foyer when you enter the apartment that has a little table and mirror. The bedroom is directly in front of you and is spacious and charming. The bed, which can be prepared as a dual-king or 2 twins, is a standard Italian-style thick mattress, no box spring. An Italian dual-king is a bit larger than a queen bed. Very nice antique marble-topped dresser. Night stands with little bedside reading lamps.
The cosy living room is down the hall; it is cute & bright. There is a nice white leather sofa and two upholstered chair. They fit the space nicely and provide good seating. One side of the living room overlooks the street, Via de' Bardi below, with tall windows that go to the floor. The other corner of the living room has French doors that open onto the terrace. The floors throughout are original terrazzo marble.
The terrace is the most charming feature of the apartment. Large and well maintained, it has a bistro table with two chairs. On sunny days you can extend a canvas awning over most of the length of the terrace. If you have your heart set on finding a small, well located, nice apartment with a good terrace the Bardi apartment fits the bill.
A second set of double doors lead from the terrace to the kitchen. The terrace is a wonderful spot for meals or cocktails outdoors on balmy days. Church bells toll and it's a wonderful sound while you sip your morning coffee or dine al fresco.
The eat-in kitchen has a gas range, small countertop oven, toaster, under-the-counter refrigerator, pots, pans, utensils. Italian and American style coffee pots, microwave. No dishwasher.
The bathroom has a shower, sink, bidet and toilet.
The living room and bedroom are air conditioned. With windows open you will experience some noise from pedestrians in the street down below since the popular Ponte Vecchio area gets crowded. It is five floors up so that helps, also the living room and bedroom have double glazed windows that provide good sound insulation. If you sleep with the windows closed at night noise is not an issue. If you keep the windows open you would need to be comfortable with city sounds.
The washing machine is on the terrace. There is a drying rack for clothes you can put on the terrace.

1. Overall, how did you find your accommodations? The accommodations were wonderful. Juliano met us when we arrived, showed us around the apartment and provided numbers that we could reach either he or his son if anything came up that we were unsure of or needed. They had lovely candy and chocolates for us and a great bottle of wine. He truly made us feel welcome in his home. The apartment and terrace were very clean. There was nothing that we wanted for. If we thought we wanted to cook something we had everything – pots, dishes utensils etc. that we needed. The ambience was exactly what we wanted for this time in Florence. We felt very much a part of the locale. 2. What did you think about the location and the surrounding area? Loved the location. It is a very safe area and was walking distance to everything that we needed. We did three day trips and enjoyed the 20 minute walk to the train station. It is steps to Ponte Vecchio where there are always lots of crowds but once inside the apartment it is very quiet. 3. Any tips for future guests including nearby sites, restaurants or shops? The grocery store is right next door and has lots of wonderful prepared things that you can just take home or anything that you need to make meals at home in the apartment. There is a fantastic coffee bar a few steps across the street and to the right as you exit the building. The coffee is great, there is a bakery on sight and the pastries are melt in your mouth delicious. We found many wonderful restaurants nearby. There are many in the historic center area, but we preferred the ones nearby the apartment. They were more intimate and authentic feeling and the food was amazing. There was lots of shopping nearby. We found that we most enjoyed shopping in the area by Bardi and Pitti and also near the Westin area. 4. Would you recommend Italy Perfect to a friend? I would and have already recommended Italy perfect to several people. The service that we have received through Lisa and Pat in the office has been very prompt, friendly and no matter what questions or concerns we had during the planning and booking stages they were always very professionally handled. We had no doubt that we would be getting exactly what we were anticipating, and we were not disappointed. We look forward to using Italy Perfect again and would feel very comfortable trying the same service in their other locations. Thank you all so much.
Quite often agencies tend to make the property sound better than it is but not this time. The interior, the location and the owner were excellent. The terrace adds to the property and is a great place for breakfast, and afternoon cocktails. Having a clothes washer helped greatly for our 21 day stay. Italy Perfect did a perfect job arranging our trip and providing the details to assist us with our planning. Only good things to say about this trip.
This apartment was very pleasant, with the definite advantage of air conditioning. Daytime temperatures around 40 celsius. Centrally positioned at the end of Ponte Vechio. Fabio and his father were most helpful.
The apartment was wonderful in every way. The location of the apartment is perfect for exploring the city center and Oltrarno. The elevator is charming and then stepping into the apartment we felt that we were in our your own little jewel. The rooms are as they are pictured, and we found them so much more perfect in person. We were so lucky to have found such a great place. The balcony is a wonderful liittle hideaway above the city. We enjoyed eating out there, taking in the sunset while listening to the city below.
There are many restaurants and a grocery store a few steps away from the front door. We loved the close proximity to the city center but were more enhanced with the Oltrarno area right outside out door. We loved walking through the streets looking into the workshops of the craftspeople and the great restaurants and gelato.
We would recommend taking a tour from Context Tours. We took two tours - one of the workshops of Oltrarno and one of life in the 16th century city center. A few restaurants that we would recommend are Trattoria 4 Leoni, Trattoria Sant' Agostino and Gusta Pizza in Oltrarno. In the city center, stop for cappuccio at the bar of Caffe' le Logge (via Porta Rossa 44r) and paninis at Vecchio Forno (via Guelfa, 32-34r) before or after seeing David. There is also a great little gelato place across the square from 4 Leoni - as everywhere else in Florence.
Our hosts for the apartment were extremely attentive and checked in with us via email during out stay. They went so far as to recommend there favorite restaurants in the area. It was a level of service that was very much appreciated.
We will recommend Italy Perfect to friends because the staff did a great job of providing details on our stay and useful information about our location. We loved having the cards for the apartment location and taxis. We laminated them to carry with us. I will also recommend the Bardi apartment because it is so perfect! Thank you!
We enjoyed or stay at the Bardi apartment. It was very clean and comfortable with all the household items needed for daily living. Very conveniently located to services and the museums and sights of Florence. Our host, Giuliano, was very helpful in explaining everything and even provided flowers in celebration four 50th anniversary. We were in email contact with his son, Fabio, who provided helpful information on restaurants and answered our questions. I would certainly stay there again.
This is our second trip back to Florence and one of the reasons we wanted to return was to once again stay in this wonderful apartment. The location and the apartment bring you a truly magical experience. You are in the heart of Florence when you stay at Bardi, yet high enough from the busy streets below to be undisturbed. The apartment itself has everything a couple could require. We spent a week there but could quite happily have spent a month. The attention to detail goes well beyond anywhere else we stayed during our two months in Italy and remains our favourite. Our host Giuliani was very helpful and he was always a phone call away if we needed anything. To sum up, if you're coming to Florence and you want somewhere that feels like home, this is your apartment. Writing this review has caused my wife to get 'homesick' for Bardi. That's saying something!
We decided to return to the Bardi apartment for another week and were extremely happy we did. The apartment looks better than ever and the location is really first rate for us. We love Firenze and plan on staying in this apartment every time we return. The owners son couldn't have been more gracious and helpful. Everything worked like a charm. Most of our evenings were spent on the terrace listening to the sounds of the city. Very pleased!
